He's a combination of excellent technical skill and a Parkesque work ethic. I will never not be annoyed that we took so long over signing him. I don't care if he's not quite as good as De Bruyne or whoever. He's brilliant and currently our best player.

That being said, he was rubbish today.

@Rozay is spot on.

Bench player at best.

Bookmarked that post.
He really said that? Wow. I mean, before he got here I had my doubts but the man has proved in this short time to be way beyond anyone in our squad. Saying he is a bench-player right now is one of the weirdest thing I've read on here.

On topic: The man has the best vision since Paul Scholes. Some of these passes he is making I've not seen anyone make for a long time, it's crisp and displays vision similar to that of Silva. Pogba to some degree can do that but he has become a bit repetitive usually going for the lob pass etc. even in really tight areas when it doesn't work. Bruno has that creative spark and eye for a killer pass. He takes risks, but he is such a consistent and effective player because of his combination of work rate, skill and talent. He runs so much, and gets in the right positions the whole game which make him have the ball in dangerous positions consistently and he'll get like 10 more opportunities in a game than other guys who can't do that. I think that's the reason he puts up those crazy numbers, simply by repeating his movement and giving himself the opportunity to fail a lot of times, a lot more than others. By doing 10 things wrong, he does 1 or two right and it's a match winning action. Opposed to a player like Greenwood right now who doesn't give himself any chances unless he is completely sure his involvement will result in a goal. It's a fine balance however, let's just hope he can continue this formula and keep the numbers up. Very interesting player, and I just love that every touch he makes seems to have a purpose.

I think Bruno's general play is being under appreciated at the moment because he plays the role of risk taker and people seem to only notice when something doesn't come off. I just can't ignore those touches and his vision which is world class even if its not completely successful every time, he is involved all game.

Bruno is no. 10 and his job is to lurk around the box and provide killer pass to forwards, 10 and 9 is the best combination. For this to work we also need to set up the team accordingly. Martial's jersey is 9 but he hardly plays as true 9. Slight left to center is his favorite place and it works for him. Where I am surprised is greenwood who should drift into center has stopped doing so in last couple of matches. Last match also he stuck on the right. That is wasteful for him and the team. Bring players in the box if we want our no. 10 to be truly devastating.

Poor guy was running himself into the ground even at 0-3.

I hope he never gets disillusioned or disheartened, because the moment that happens, we'll fall like a stone again.

To be fair to @Rozay he said he'll be a sub in 18 months and that he doesn't him as a world class player. That's fair although many would disagree.
Regarding passes I think he's still finding his feet in the league so to say to see what goes and what not. It can be frustrating to se the amoung of missplaced passes but when it comes of it's a dangerous position or an opportuinty. So I dont agree it's mostly square passes if I got that right. He's a taking risk player and if you dont take a risk you dont take the profit. :)
Of course he shouldn't take any risks near our goal and sometimes he should come back for the ball instead of staying close to the strikers the whole time.

His application is top notch, never gives up, never stops running, some players should take note.

He's evidently tired and hopefully he can pull of 2 remaining games and get a good rest until EL.

Hes got a sore back already for carrying the club. He's been amazing since he joined.

Other than KDB which midfielder from any PL side would you sooner have? There isn't one. He's been magnificent.

He reminds me of alexis sanchez. ( the one at arsenal)
All action hard working every pass forward no matter how risky and both give the ball away a lot but never stopped trying the risky pass or shot till it came off.

Yes, this man has 9G+9A in 18 appearances for the club.

And someone who creates so many chances in every game. Would love if he is bench player btw, same with Rashford which mean we have 2 absolute world class players in their positions.

Some never fail to disappoint. That was expected. Only wait until Martial or Rashford don't score for a couple of games....

There are few who make up their minds on players and keep on posting to justify that. It's becoming common theme, not saying about any particular poster btw, just general observation.

Thank you for reading what I wrote instead of what you want. Sounds simple but really isn’t on here. To summarise my post as ‘so we should just bench Bruno’ is sadly predictable on here. I could reply to someone saying that and again explain what I’ve said, which I did, yet you still have those who have clearly chosen to not process the words and come with ‘yea, bench a player with 9 goals’ or whatever.

Maybe there are a few better players than Rashford in his position, but who are the players who are significantly more world class than Bruno in his, considering his per game stats?

I have no idea, that's why I said if we have someone who can bench Bruno then we will be is brilliant position. Bruno is good enough to start for any team in the league (except 1-2), when you have that sort of quality on bench that means we will be competing for league titles.

So poster x said "he will be a sub in 18 months", poster Y said "Poster X said Bruno will be a bench player"

Seems accurate to me unless we have missed something here.

He was known for giving the ball away at Lisbon and the same thing is happening here. But we didn't buy him for ball retention we bought him to do things other players can't and create out of nothing, which is precisely what he has given us so far. He is an outstanding addition to our club.

I'm sick of watching him contribute to nearly every single goal we score and running his socks off every match for 90 minutes. Bench him for Andreas or Lingard at least they will keep it simple.

Who would be starting in our midfield ahead of him? which midfielders do you think we will have that will keep out someone of his production level? 7 goals, 7 assists in 12 premier league appearances. Do teams usually have this on the bench?

Poster Y sad "Poster X said Bruno is a bench player at best."
That's not what poster X said.

considering we still have 2 PL games to play, it is not something impossible for him to reach double figures (in goals or in assists). It would be ridiculously good for such a short period of time

If people watched Ole's interview then it's obvious he doesn't give a feck about these pass completion stats or any player losing possession trying to create chances. He said "at worst you are losing possession, work hard and win the ball again" and I don't disagree with that.

Lingard.

De Bruyne will be a bench player within 18 months.

Need's a competent backup so he doesn't have to play every game next season. The madman has basically played every minute since lockdown and he's still chasing down the CBs when we're 3 - 1 down in the 90th minute.

Im inclined to think that the drop off in his performances is purely down to fatigue.

But it wouldnt be the first time that a player arrives and is good for several games then their performances drop off due to inferior coaching being received!

I mean Bruno definitely has his floors and I wouldn't call him world class but he is a great offensive threat. Unless he is on an extreme purple patch, his productivity has been great for 2 years now. I do feel commentators exaggerate him a bit and give him MOTM too much but one cannot deny his impact. Like a lesser Lampard but may be able to match him in years to come

Imagine if we would have had signed him last summer.
We would have confortably been 3rd and close to City in the table.

Some of you deserve the shit we had under LVG and Jose. Seriously

Bruno should be replaced with Lingard  Get outta here.

Anyway, Bruno is needing a rest. Im wondering however if were gonna just push through the next two games with him, then rest him until Europa league QF. (hopefully next game we can have it done by 60 mins)

Thing is though we know he’s better than he’s shown the last couple of games as he was playing considerably better. Clearly he’s a high risk player but it seems when he’s tired that becomes more problematic as his simple game deteriorates too.

I think it’s silly to say he can’t be world class though, as on current showing there is no one in the premier league except De Bruyne who can replicate Bruno’s goal and assist stats.

Nah there's nothing to be fair about with that, it's an incredibly stupid opinion.

In fairness, if you had only watched the last three games he's been pretty terrible. If the prediction was for 18months time then let's wait and see - any poster is allowed an opinion.

He's not been at his best the last 3 games and still has 2 assists and a goal.

I mean yeah it's up to him, if that's his opinion then ok.

I just find it baffling.

He was poor today, well taken penalty though.

Totally understandable, give he’s been playing every single game. Why does Ole keep burning good players to the ground? Last season with Rashford. Should have been taken off after 60 mins atleast, but no.

sure it was a joke

Give him the whole damn week off, when he walks into the dressing room on Sunday give him the armband. Simples.

Don't think Ole trusts anyone else to play in Bruno's position. Personally I feel you could have rested Bruno by pushing Pogba forward and playing another of our deeper midfielders, but maybe he doesn't trust them either. I'd like to see Bruno given a rest but I'm not sure it'll happen with only 2 games to go.
