Well yeah, but then so are 90% of all fouls on a football pitch. From the defender getting the slightest touch in the back and going down to the attacker getting a slight tug on the counter and going down.

That's basically what football is.
I only came in to check I wasn't insane for thinking I'd seen what I'd seen. I was happy as soon as Pexbo said it looked like a dive.

It was never meant to be a moral crusade against the modern scourge of simulation.
I realise that last example was rather unfortunate
Seeing how many suggestive ways we can phrase this sounds much more fun than this conversation but I've probably already dragged us away from his performance enough.

He was good. I'm optimistic.

Bruno Fernandes: "This is what I want to do and what I need to do. Everyone knows we want to get into the Champions League places. I am here to help the team conquer this place and keep winning games."

:drool::drool::drool::drool:
Conquer this place? Yes. Inject this into my veins.

Nah why bother? Rashford's shown this season that he's world class coming from the left, and Martial clearly benefits from being central. Feck Grealish, just get Sancho on the right and everyone will be in the positions where they've shown their best football.

That would also be an option. I saw something else today that could bode well for us. in the second half, our centre midfielders sat deep as a tandem, let our wings play wide, and used Fernandes as support for the flanks . It worked. I like how solid we looked defensively and how organized it was offensively. With Rashford and Sancho back, this would be really helpful. We can't rely on our fullbacks for width as both Shaw and AWB are really good defensively, by playing with wide forwards, it protects the full backs from their defensive weaknesses.

A better pass to Martial and a proper header from Maguire could have seen him end the game with 4 assists and a goal. What the feck is this machine?

He definitely has a mentality which was missing in the team.
He directs other players about their position. One player who is always getting instructions from him is AWB. This will definitely make AWB better at attacking. He is a bit quicker with his decision making as well.
Really really good performance.
I am glad we finally signed him

Going to be so much more productive for us than Pogba ever has or ever will be. Excellent signing.

70% passing today... no good.:wenger:
Remember when people used to obsess over that? Fergie wouldve loved Bruno. Someone always looking forward, the vision and ability to play those killer passes and the confidence to always take them on. Sorely been lacking.

Why the hell should you bring Pogba when you are talking about Brunos performances? Seriously, enjoy his show buddy. Let's spare Pogba in one thread for once.

To be fair, Bruno is pretty much Pogba's replacement. So if ever there was a player performance thread to bring Pogba into, this would probably be the one

No wonder Poch wanted him. Also he'd be the "perfect" no. 10 that Mou had wanted. A "Deco or Sneijder" type, who work hard and with some grit.

I never properly watched Deco - is Bruno comparable to him?

Of our eight draws and eight defeats in the league this season, three draws and a whopping SIX defeats were against the bottom 11 teams in the league.

In those nine games, we scored just five goals (didn't score a goal in five of them) and conceded 14 goals. If we had, say, scored an additional goal in all of those games, we would be nine points better off, and there are only three games in which scoring one more goal wouldn't have changed the final result.

13th: Crystal Palace (h) - L - scored 1, conceded 2
12th: Southampton (a) - D - scored 1, conceded 1
18th: West Ham United (a) - L - scored 0, conceded 2
14th: Newcastle United (a) - L - scored 0, conceded 1
16th: Bournemouth (a) - L - scored 0, conceded 1
17th: Aston Villa (h) - D - scored 2, conceded 2
11th: Everton (h) - D - scored 1, conceded 1
19th: Watford (a) - L - scored 0, conceded 2
10th: Burnley (h) - L - scored 0, conceded 2

Bruno is exactly the kind of player we need and if having him improves our results in those kinds of games then we will have a great chance of making top four.

Slam dunk! for those "it's only Watford" posts.

Fully agree.
It feels like we've been passing sideways for 5 years now. I don't care about his passing rate, he can change the game with one through ball.
I'm very excited about this guy. Add Sancho on the right and we will look twice the team already.

If Bruno is Pogba's replacement that is another example of being terribly run.

We should be looking at Bruno as an extra creative player. Then Pogba's replacements should be go should be another creative player ala Grealish and then someone like Thomas Partey.

That's how to replace someone and improve.

If we swap Pogba like for like with Bruno we will not be in a position to improve considerably at all. Got to start making proper strides.

Can't go back to having one creative player.

So far so very good. Sorry to be a slave to cliche but can't help but feel the fact he can physically handle himself and his English is fairly good are two massive plus points in this situation.

Seems to have focus and drive to match his obvious quality on the ball. Already an example to the majority of the squad.

This Bruno lad is now really making me impatient by making us think how good we could be if we sign 2/3 better frontline players?

Do you feel confident we can we sign a good striker and a right winger to complement the current team ?

Fred is a creative player. Not in the Pogba or Bruno's level, but he has it in him. It's just he has to spend most of the time defending, because Matic can't hold on his own. His through ball to Bruno today, and to Ighalo against Chelsea as recent examples.

We just need a Partey to complete the midfield.

Honestly, didn't expect this. Last time I thought we got our own version of De Bruyne, it was Mykhitaryan. This guy looks better.

Just a shame Rashford had to get his massive injury the same time he joined.

Deco was more of a wide type playmaker but didn’t have the turn of pace. I prefer Bruno’s style and productivity but Deco sure was easy on the eye at his peak and probably kept the ball better. More the typical Barcelona type midfielder.

Deco just happened to play in some fine sides so gotta respect that.

Should have been bought last summer.

Would have saved us 6 months of having to rely on the likes of fecking Lingard and Pereira to be our "creative" midfielders.

This guy is the real deal. Some players just have it. Leadership and making his teammates move on the pitch. Its easier to make runs if you know you get a perfect pass. The allround movement in the final third is looking much better because he always looking for the pass no others in the team does. Great vision, top mentality and Will be a great player for us.

How can I say that after only 3 games? Well, some players just have IT.

Welcome to Brunoshow!

PS: And to all of you that keeps saying ”We should have bought him last summer bla bla” Well yes, thats pretty obvious For all of us.. but as you all know - We didnt. Or ”So bad he’s coming now when Rashford is injured” ...Like what? Haha some of you should really start meditate or something. So many in here find negatives even in the most positive things here. I really hope you dont are the same with other things in Life because then i feel pretty sorry for you.

Be happy he’s here now and improving us. Live in the moment. because you cant change present and you cant change future so just enjoy!

Can we give it to 4 players? Feels like Rashford and Fred deserve one. And Maguire is slowly taking the claim.
Yes I have a short memory, Rashford has to be the front runner. It would be nice if PoTY was a contest this season, seems like in recent years there have been few standouts to choose from.

I've never seen anything as bad as Fred when he first arrived, without that injury crisis he never gets the time to play himself out of that funk. Considering where he was it's like he's become Superman in comparison!

Excellent player, he was the difference. I think he could have been the difference with the games before Christmas. Least we know this season who's up to it and not. Bruno will be an important player for us in the next few seasons. I'm not sure if we would have broke them down without him.

I’m not sure about that mate. I was huge Deco fan and he was your typical number 10. He became more of a 8 at Barca but I don’t recall him being comfortable in wider positions.

He looks like a proper United player when you compare him to someone like Mata. He’s hard and most of his moves are directed towards scoring. You have to hope he doesn’t come on good and get lost like Di Maria, Pogba etc. Something tells me he’s got more than them, attitude wise. He looks like someone Fergie wouldn’t have minded having.

Forgot to say it was better for him to sign for Manchester United than going to Spurs to be managed by Mourinho. Probably would be playing as a striker against Leipzig and Chelsea. Good decision for his carrer.

Bruno has shown that he is a quality player and I hope he can keep it up, he makes the players around him work harder aswell. Maguire should be wary of that captains armband.

Just a question, I was under the impression he was two-footed? He seem to depend on his right most of the time.
