Easily our best midfielder by far. Still not convinced Fred is a long term solution in midfield. Run alot, tackles hard, but he's still very poor on the ball.

Do you ship him out if we get an offer around 50M for Fred and who would you sign to replace him?

Has the knack of doing several of the mindfeck misplaced passes Sanchez used to do for us during every game, but he is a super positive player that is all action for the full 90 minutes. Also a lot quicker than I expected. He is quite similar to Pogba in that they both will have a low pass completion ratio but at the same being the only ones in our team capable of putting out decent numbers in terms of goal contributions. I just wish we got to see both flourish in the same team but Pogba seems like a goner unfortunately.

Really it's sad that we might never see them play together, there was a time when we could boast Rooney, Ronaldo, Berbatov and Tevez in our starting eleven. Now the state of the club means we get one world class attacking player and our other one wants to leave.

Can't see why not. Under Jorge Jesus (bare in mind that Jesus is actually an amazing manager) he played ton of games behind the three attacking minded player + striker, playing alongside William Carvalho for lots of games, while Podence (who's at Wolves now) or some other player would player behind the striker. On top games, he would be back at pure AM position, since he is a more tactical player.

He was always like that: likes to gamble with small odds on vertical passes. The truth is, you just need a couple of them to happen to completely break the opposition defensive lines.

Pogba will play for us again before the end of the season. Despite all the shit going on, there’s the Euros this summer and Pogba will need minutes to build his match fitness. And from our perspective, we need to fight for a CL spot, so even if he is leaving it’s in Ole’s interest to play one of our best players, once available. It’s mutually beneficial for him to play for us again before the season is over.

Wasn't Messi last season or the season before the player that lost possession most or something like that? It's a natural consequence for attacking players that are trying to make things happen.

I'm delighted with him and it just goes to show what a massive impact having a good AM can do for our attacking play. In this games of defensive opposition it's a lot less about tactics and "patterns of play" and a lot more about player quality.

As good as he's playing on the pitch - he's brought a buzz and an excitement off it that we all needed.

I actually feel excited to watch us again when he's playing which is what it's all about. That lift in morale is something that can be pretty powerful for the players and the fans.

Absolutely. Players should be making more runs too as they know there is someone that can actually find them.

Think Mata might benefit off of him too, when played on the right wing he's excellent at making runs behind the fullback even if he doesn't have the pace.

i agree. Pogba will be back on the pitch in March for sure. It is basically the end of the season, even if he isn't motivated, with the Euros looming around, he will be back to show he is ready for the tournament and for the transfer market.

I don't actually mind considering he already contributes way more than any other attacking player we have. And misplacing passes was pretty much the only thing Alexis did for us. Most of his misplaced passes you could actually see what he's trying to do but still there's loads of that are just WTF. But he has exceeded my expectations already. Long may it continue.

Why does Ole have to play him though? He still has to be picked he can’t just play because he wants too. If I was Ole if we’re out the running for top 4 I wouldn’t use him at all.

He is our best player on paper. And Ole will play him if his job is on the line. As someone said, both profit from playing. Pogba will show his motivation in training and Ole will start him again, because he knows Pogba wants to be match fit and he wants to reach CL qualification for next season. Ole isn't as unselfish as some think.

Chong is not signing an extension and still is in the squad most games, getting minutes yesterday as well.

For me Bruno has brought the excitement back... we have been bored shitless for to long watching mediocre players like Lingard Pereria Fred Scott McT . finally some real class quality who grabs your attention and gets you out of your seat when he has the ball. I did fear he would be another Di Maria or Miki but this guy feels and looks different class. He could just be teh difference between top 4 and top 6.

A top team cannot only rely on their attacking trained patterns, because sooner or later there are going to be teams that adjust well to those patterns and will cause entropy on our attacking game. For those games you need players that think outside the box, that try different things, even if most of the times even his team mates are not tuned with him.

That's why having top players up front is very important: top players have good vision of the game so they can completely anticipate this "outside of the box" set plays.

Harsh lumping fred and mctominay in with lingar and pereira. They play a different role and are miles better.

Completely agree. The more a team sits back the more important individual quality and creativity is imo. In a more open game, tactics matter a bit more in exploiting space and positions. We tend to be good at the later but poor in the former. Bruno changes this.

I’d argue that it’s good planning to bring in a player replacement 6 months prior to replacing that player.
None of us know what the plan is, but if Pogba goes, it’s extremely likely we will get in another midfielder.

if you want to use signing Bruno as a way of criticising the club, so be it, but appears to be a strange stance.

Way to twist an argument. We all know Bruno should have been here in the summer. The point is this team needs a lot more creativity's than just Bruno.

He is a great addition but we can't stop there is all. Team needs a serious amount of work still

No one expected Pogba to be out for the whole season.

And? Regardless. Pogba alone is not enough creativity. Bruno alone is not enough creativity. No one on there own is.

Look at city, you need multiple avenues to create. Why do we have this obsession that one midfielder is enough despite years of evidence otherwise?

I agree, it was clear that Ole had put his trust in Lingard and Perreira as they looked decentish in pre season only for it to completely backfire.

Exactly, which is why when Pogba goes we need to push to replace his creativity and not get stuck in this mindset that Bruno has.

Get the likes of Grealish and Sancho and this team can do it. That's 3 different avenues who can consistently create goals. Then get someone like Partey to bolster the midfield. Then we are laughing.

Yes 100% agreed. Stop keeping faith in players that have not delivered, now Lingard and Perreira have got a kick up their back sides, I hope they can buckle up and find a new club for themselves.

Grealish and Sancho would be amazing. It would be a dream summer.

All the concerns over his ability to perform in England because he came from the Portuguese league seem to have flown out the window by now after 3 MOTM performances in his first 3 Prem games for us.

Those concerns were always off the mark given that we've already signed starters and quality players from the Portuguese league. If a player is truly class, they'll be able to kick on in different leagues regardless of how small or weak the league they come from is.

Just look at Fred and Haaland as very recent examples of that coming from Ukraine and Norway.

Only thing I'm disdappointed with when it comes to Bruno is why we didn't sign him earlier during the summer window

Been a pleasure not seeing the likes of Lingard and Andreas on the team sheet by default anymore and have some actual quality there instead

The difference one player has made to this team is huge. Martial can even joke about his pass being 95% accurate. You can see Martial seems to be happier knowing there is someone who can play a good pass into him.

Players elevate their game playing with better players. Another top AM and RW we can really see this team developing.

To be fair to him, our players arent used to sprinting ahead for a through pass whenever the midfield has the ball.

Was several times Bruno tried but the front 3 werent moving.

I hope they will understand that now and just start whenever they see Bruno is about to get the ball.

Fair points. I suppose it depends on how Pogba applies himself in training. However if his set on leaving we shouldn’t do him a favour. Ole banished Herrera last season when he didn’t sign.

You also need to attempt those kind of passes a few times in a game to give the opposition something to worry about.

Can't keep recycling the ball and then expect defenses to break down by themselves.

From the bits I have seen, I honestly think the whole club is going to benefit from his introduction.

The attacks look more fluid and his incisive vision means the likes of James and Rashford can make acute runs behind the defence and open up the oppo more often.

If he can stay uninjured and fit, utd look like they can have a rosier future.

I'm impressed with him so far, hope it keeps going and only gets better.

I really hope Bruno and Ighalo can create some magic together so we will be sorted for rest of the season and then we can address Striker/RW issues in the summer along with a ACM if Pogba leaves.

I think @SportingCP96 said that he was a bit different to the Spanish style CAM that have a level of finesse to their passing & I kind of like that so far.

Whilst Im only judging him from his first 3 games here - his passing seems to come through more of a sense of consistent effort and an ability to try something different in a time of need than necessarily try something that is guaranteed to work 100% of the time.

This is wonderful to watch & it would only be better when we have a player who has the ability to play some consistent passes through the pitch as well because it gives us a wide variety of creativity rather than just one.

I've unfortunately never wanted Pogba back more so than now to view him in the same team as Bruno Fernandes - with all the flaws it may have defensively, it's not their fault - it's the fault of the defensive midfielders. That's a bloody world class midfield including players like Fred, Mctomminay & Matic.

That will be quite deadly when we get Rashford back, he is the perfect set-up for those two.

Kudos to Solskjær and Ed for taking the gamble.

That was the best from Guardiola's Barcelona: not only they had clockwork passing players, Xavi would do the deep pass attempt here and there, while Iniesta suddenly carried the ball forward and made risky quick thinking passes and Daniel Alves went full speed attacking mode trying to dribble or outrun everyone ahead of him.
Without these three guys providing unexpected and risky movements, I'm pretty positive that that Barça team would still be a fantastic machine, but they would have shared everyone's else problems against teams who were well drilled on lower defensive blocks.

Love watching this guy play. We need the strikers to make moves in anticipation of his passes. I don't care how many times he loses the ball, as an attacking player you need to take risks. This summer we need to get a right winger in to balance the attack.

A while back a lot of people pointed out his wage. Almost no one brought up the possibility that he might have asked for a lower wage. Food for thought.
