Ok well look at the stats this way....

One goal was a penalty

One assist was a square pass to Pogba 30 yards out.

One assist was a great pass to Rashford, but seriously you aren’t expecting an assist from it. It didn’t even create a chance.

One assist he just managed to toe the ball away from the defender after a poor pass to him....it just happened to fall to Rashford.

On top of that his general performance wasn’t great throughout the month.
His general performance is never good dating back to last season against crystal palace after the restart. There is not a single game I watch from him that is 10/10. His greatest strength for us is his determination and Bravery on the ball. He just tries things which is good against lesser teams. Our record against the big sides this year is poor because we are wasting the little opportunities and time we have on the ball.

he needs to refine his game and show more patience. It also doesn't help that a midfield of Bruno, Fred and Mctominay suck at ball retention.

I think in big games he has to keep it simple sometimes. All these blind passes puts extra pressure on us.
Totally agree with this. I don’t want to be critical of him as he’s our best player and transformed us into a good team but his passing is so wasteful at times it really costs us in the tight games. Same for the other attackers the tricks and flicks rarely come off

Nothing wrong,he had a terrible game. Hes our main man but let's call it as it is when he plays poorly as he has in recent games.
How many stand out players were on the pitch today from both sides? Shaw or Lindelof maybe that’s about it, nobody had a great game let’s not batter Bruno when he wasn’t as bad as anyone else..

Clearly needs to be dropped for the bigger games; play him to stat-pad against mediocrity, but someone with better football IQ - and the technical capacity to implement it - like VDB would be a better selection against decent opposition.

Yep.

I think, to defend him, he has to make these risking passes that dont always come off.

We criticized Lingard and Perreria for just keeping it simple and passing backwards.

Bruno tries these risky passes that dont come off, but that is better IMO than Lingard or Perreria.

Sometimes he could be more aware of the space he is in. Like for example against City in the Carabao we had a three on two or a three on three and he tried a first time pass, when he should have held onto it and ran forwards.

I think he needs a good rest though and to be more patient.

Give me an example. I’ve seen players lay off the gas and play deeper. But Scholes, Modric, Kroos and Thiago’s passing (Just examples that I’ve witnessed) could pass at 25.

He does rush a lot but he’s selection of passes from deep.. I don’t actually think he has the intelligence for it.

I criticise him playing the 10 but actually think we brought him to play that position knowing he wasn’t good enough to play the 8 in England. Our leaked scouting report did say he gives the ball away to much. Maybe I’ll give Ole credit for once.
I remember about those reports and, yeah, it seems his playing style is going to lead to misplaced passes, but also gives him the ability to unlock a good defence.

The Hollywood balls, flicks and no look passes, especially played quickly, have a higher chance of failing, but are quality when they come off.

That's why he's best as a 10, if he loses it he's high up the pitch, if it comes off, it's an excellent final ball.

Yeah it’s less risky further up but maybe it’s becoming a problem in the big games now. Alternatively though. You can drop one of the slow CB’s and trust Matic and Pogba to play behind him. Then his job becomes less important on winning a midfield battle, as he never helps in that department.

Bruno lost more possession (19) times today than he made accurate passes (18) times. This is exactly the problem. He is a big reason alongside for why we suck at ball retention.

We all know this is a player with amazing output but someone who loses the ball an insane amount of times.

Been off the boil for a while now.

Remember what we were like before he arrived? Loads of pointless, impotent possession with no penetration, excitement or creativity.

We were a dull team and a team that was ridiculously easy to defend against. At some point it seemed like everyone we played just came and set up with a low block, knowing that we'd find it hugely difficult to create anything - and knowing there was a good chance they could soak up our pointless possession before springing us on the counter attack.

Bruno changed that.

There's obviously been matches where the balance between creativity/retention hasn't been there for him - today was one of those days - but it's a complete no-brainer that he's been absolutely key to our improvement as a team.

It sure isn’t just the risky passes though, his passing technique isn’t very consistent even for simple passes that we don’t expect any decent PL midfielders to misplace as regularly as him.

Not his best day today, felt he was wasteful in possession, couldn’t influence the game and wasn’t defending Thiago properly IMO.

Turning on Bruno is pure insanity. He's our star player that pushed us from midfield to top of the league. He's not playing very well at the moment and yes there are some areas where he can improve (his risk reward decision making can be off in some games), but that's why we have other great players that should step up when he doesn't.

Simmer down he’s clearly class but he’s been disappointing
Just because he had a chance from 5 yards doesn’t mean he played well for the other 90 minutes
I have already acknowledged he was poor today, I just pointed out he still carried our biggest threat despite being underwhelming compared to usual, which proves his importance to us.

The speed with which some fans want to throw our players under the bus is mental.

Decent shot for his big chance that was saved and his free-kick didn't miss by much but the rest of his performance was shocking.

"He could never pass a ball" "Will be useless in 2 years", this forum is becoming worse every year. I can understand some knee-jerking, but some posts on here are shockingly awful.

This.

I don't mind him throwing a strop or the fact he always tries the difficult pass thats what make him important to us.

I do feel he needs abig performance in a big game just to cement himself and then he will kick on even more for us

Hopefully next week

I dunno, we've seen him back defending at LB before. Don't forget, lots of people thought he might be able to play as an 8 regularly. He can defend, its only the over ambitious passing that can be the problem.

Sometimes I wish I wasn't on this forum. Other clubs' supporters protect their players through months of shit form, ours turn on the one who has literally transformed us into a competitive team after a rough game or two. Not to mention the criticism isn't even true, it's pure hysteria.

Reactions: Crackers
Sometimes I just wish he was a bit more like Thiago. Come in to midfield get his foot on the ball and pass it around. Possesion is a good thing, not every pass has to be a killer pass. Both he and Pogba were guilty of this today but Pogba at least fixed the issue and started trying to play.

I really wish he wasn’t always playing like a 2nd striker.

To be fair it’s not his game to play like that....also as a team our tactics are direct.

He's a gambler. In high stakes games, our opportunities for key possessions are minimal. This is why he looks atrocious in big games. With large volume, a gambler can make big wins. With small volume you drive the team broke.

Having said that, we absolutely need him on the team. Someone has to play that role

Nah im not having that he did not carry our biggest threat
Our biggest threat were counter attacks taht if anything he nullified with rushing his passes

All the praise for that move need to go to shaw for busting a gut to make the overlap for that play to even happen

But is he like that every game?
He was just like this against City. Needlessly losing possession and too quick to pull the trigger. He plays like its impossible to move backwards.

He should not be above criticism just because he has rightfully transformed the team. What happens when we progress past the need of counter attacking and we want to actually be the dominant side against top opposition? Between him and Ole they have to figure out this gungho approach to games that matter.

I would like him to sometimes drop a little deeper if the game requires it. For example in the first half we couldnt get a foothold in the game and needed another body a bit deeper to help launch attacks.

He could also look after the ball a but more without losing his cutting edge

I think this bit is particularly true for now

but only until we get some better creative players to play wide (hopefully diallo is 1) and centre midfield. Then he should turn it down and trust that if there isn’t a pass on, he can drop it off to someone else and they won’t just play it back to maguire

Thank you. I’m glad we still have members who can give good honest opinions.

Too many cry babies on the cafe these days. It’s like a cult and any thinking outside the norm is some type of fake fan.

Totally agree. We need Lingard back in there.

You’re no better here for picking one of a handful of posts and condemning the whole forum though

That post quoted is a wum surely, most people are just saying he had a bad game which I think is fair
