Soviets used torture people by depriving them of sleep. You become delusional. Eventually you would admit to anything just to be able to sleep.

Rumours that the British did it in NI as well.

It's a very common and old practice as a torture but also in warfare. An interesting example is harassing fires who are used to prevent enemies to sleep and increase stress levels.

Honestly, I don't think any of our players should be criticising someone else for underperforming. No one is consistent enough to warrant being on that high horse.

The last player we had who'd be within their right to criticise teammates/management is probably de Gea prior to the 2018 World Cup.
Just have them all sit in silence and wallow at how equally shit they are, then.

Seems a bit bizarre for him to be having a go at the manager as well as the caption. He should probably first and foremost ensure he improves his retention of the ball. His entire game is relying a little too much now on putting away penalties won by others. I like Bruno but I do hope he realises he himself has to improve plenty and the whole Bruno effect of last season hasn't given him a sense of entitlement.

Bruno hasn't been at his best but this nonsense he only scores penalties ....forgetting all the assists even the ones not counted like his cross that matic tapped to Maguire to score against Brighton and countless others. Yes he's not yet fit and could benefit from running less and conserving energy but...we'd be absolutely fecked without Bruno.

Take that match against Brighton for instance, he lost the ball alot and cost us a penaulty but....
1. He also assisted for Rasford's goal(amazing ball into space that took 2 defenders out of the equation).
2. Assisted(not counted as Matic touched the ball before it landed on Maguire.
3. It was his well taken corner kick (god were we horrible at set pieces before he came) for Maguire's handled headed ball that earned us the penaulty.
4. Scored the resulting penaulty at the final whistle.

Against Tottenham it was Bruno's layoff to Martial in the box that resulted in the trip and he scored the resulting penalty. Yet go ahead leave out the assists and game intelligence and talk about him only scoring the penalty. Many of our fans don't really understand the game.

It's obvious We need a change so I won't blame him for criticizing his team mates even if it's true. Most have been here for years and look like the type that need to be encouraged. Otherwise it's the same old every time. A few good performances followed by everyone playing half a sleep in the next ones. And for those who say "He needs to play better", true, but he is by far still the most important player and at least he's shown the passion and willingness to change things around. That matters A LOT. If the players didn't even feel bad nor felt like they have to put things right then enjoy ManUnited being the 6th best team in England for years to come. It all begins with the mindset.

Is it just me or has anybody else noticed his game changed, or perhaps dropped, as soon as Pogba came back in the team since last season? It is like he lost his fluidity, he started dropping back more. I don't believe it is coincidence. Both look to me incompatible. I am not saying any one of them is bad or something but it is possible that two good players can be incompatible.

Same here. Imo Pogba is not happy that he s no longer the "star" of the team and it s creating tensions. Don't forget that Pogba has his clique in the team.

Though times ahead and difficult decisions to be taken.

I agree. It is the attitude that never been reported for a very very long time for united. If a player is kicking butt - which the manager supposed to do - then yeh I support the player, even it means he is kicking an already embarassed player then be it. Kicking has to be done.

I think trying to come at him when the whole team has been utter shit is nonsense. He is by far and large the best player at United. Pogba should in theory be that guy because one can argue he is more talented but he is just not.

Watching United play since last season and this ALL of there best opportunities in game come from this mans boot(s).

He is the last player to worry about in this squad and United have a lot of problems needing to address both in players and staff.

I love Ole the player and the person but this make pretend that this man is a viable head coach is nonsense. He is not cut for this level at all and it is holding United back both now and in the long run. Just my two cents.

* Also him calling out the players and staff was the right thing to do. I can only imagine the last time these players got kick in there ass or the "blow dryer" treatment if you will. Accountability is needed and he let them all know that including the coach who at this point he probably himself sees won't be here much longer. As he said there needs to be some awareness for the club you are playing for. This is Manchester United we are talking about. To lose 6-1 and to play as they have played not just this season but in the last long years is unacceptable.

I’ve been waiting for you to defend him. I completely agree. Criticising him for hammering Maguire, Lindelof and Ole is out of order. Him criticising them isn’t. I mean, he’s the best player and we just lost 1-6.

He will be at this club long after all those players and coaches you mentioned will be. They need to understand the club they are playing for.

Bruno almost single handedly changed United last season when he signed. If not for him they do not sniff the CL. Even. at the moment when he is not performing to his usual world class ability he is STILL providing goals and assists. Thats what he does he is a difference maker.

He attempts passes and shots others on this team would try and that's what separates the good players from the great players. I am sure if he wants he can spend all game passing the ball around the pitch side to side and back and having 100% pass accuracy but then lets see how many goals United score. I would also be willing to bet they still concede as much as they are now.

But I mean if you guys want to send him back home to us I wont complain :wenger:;)

I feel it's actually the opposite. Bruno tended to come back and help out the midfield more when he first joined and the first few games after lockdown (so that included games that he played with Pogba). It was a few games later that he started playing almost like a second striker and barely coming back, which coincided exactly with when our performance level as a team dropped. I don't know if it was a tactical change by the management ("Pogba is back now so we don't need Bruno to come back and help play out from the back"?) or whether Bruno himself changed his positioning as his form dropped off, but it was definitely noticeable at the time. And then there was a definitely change against Sevilla where he was coming deeper again and helping out the midfield, and that was our best performance of the last two months or so of the season (even though we lost).

I'm not sure what the situation with that is this season, I haven't really noticed one way or the other.

Pogba is a big character off the field, but he's never done anything to indicate that. Indeed he's almost always looked his happiest when his team (whether us, Juve or France) have had other players stepping up and taking some of the attention off of him. It's the pressure of being 'the star' that is part of his problem IMO so he'd love nothing more than to have help in that regard.

Of course that may all change if they actually clash. Which is a possibility in the future if Bruno goes off at Pogba, but we haven't heard anything like that happening.

Nice start from Bruno tonight. Playing a bit deeper than at United but looking dangerous

He is the one who usually runs the most in most of our games. He is not a defensive midfield player. I am surprised at the amount of running he does. He is usually way forward of Pogba and he beats him every time and comes back to help our defence. yes he did not mark against Brighton when they scored. But if he does not play well we do not play well.

I see no difference from the CAM Bruno to the CM one.

He has that defensive energy of a CM that's useful. Only problem is we got to decide if his occasional risky non accurate/ chance inducing passes are better or worse from deep or from further up.

To me he doesnt lack the energy to get in to CAM positions to initiate an attack, but his defensive contribution is more useful in deep situations.

I think Portugal use him well, they have players that are capable of retaining possession behind him like Danilo and Carvalho. They trust Bruno to make the chances. Whereas with us, we don't have players that can keep the ball.

Better to have a smart, calm captain who can manipulate the referee, not shout obscenities at him and threaten his well-being. Not sure how calm-headed Maguire is, but I definitely know Bruno isn't ideal.
Much like a calm headed, manipulative Roy Keane.

He is a born winner. And that is currently nonexistent at this club at the moment.

Its one of the rare times since Sir Alex that we signed a player with this kind of DNA. Zlata was probably one.

Its what you don't see in Maguire. He looks like someone to crumble under pressure, which is something you don't want in a Manchester United captain.
A Manchester United chapter should have that winner's DNA, in line with this club's standards.
Not saying that is Bruno though, but he has the mentality of players we always looked at in the past.

However, this club has the ability to absolutely wear down both its players and managers respectively. I honestly pray it doesn't happen to him.
Mentality wise Maguire reminds me of Tiago Silva. An absolute shameful captain. His world cup behavior was the worst I've seen from a Brazil captain ever.

What you mean getting injured and then Brazil going to shit?

I can't believe fans are questioning Bruno's place in the team. He is the first name on the team sheet. The mentality difference between him and the other players in our club is quite obvious. Bruno is a winner, which cannot be said about the rest of the team.

Ole's tactics are not helping him either, his performances in a Portugal shirt this season are so different to the one of a Manutd shirt.

of course they are. We have fans questioning Greenwood, we have fans asking why we’ve bothered to buy DVDB?!

toxic fanbase.

no player stands a chance.

I agree, well if you actually think of it from Ole's point of view or a manager's point of view, you will see there is some sort of method.

The team that got him to the CL spots, he has given them 3 chances now and they have failed him. I know us fans will cry out for change after every game but put your shoes as a player.

If you were part of a team that got CL, then the manager drops you after 1 bad game? what signal does that send?

However; that does not mean they don't get dropped, its been 3 PL games and Donny will get his chance in the coming weeks, he has to take it.

People who are hateful towards Bruno must be fun at parties.
I cant get my head around it here sometimes , some people( and it is a minority) are hateful towards their own club and players. I think in some cases they should take up another past time as this one cant be good for their mental health.

Yes, it does seem that way.

As long as we're using 4231 with both Bruno and Pogba positioned centrally, it's imbalance and both of them are incompatible. A shift specific roles for each may be necessary to make the system of 4231 better... but so far it's definitely NOT working.. with Bruno's form quickly drop as soon as Pogba came into the fray.

Maybe alternatively a shift change in formation will make them more compatible? or simply change their position eg. either one of them as false RW. Who knows.

Whenever Pogba play as one of the dual CDM, our midfield loses control and defense safety anyway. Always. Before he returns, Bruno focuses on creating and attacking with the other two (Matic, Fred and McT) focuses on control, defending and getting the ball back. This also lets our three forwards to focus more on attacking.
