So if Rodgers had given him a different number, & played him in a different position, he'd have become a different player, & not the one who we saw who made Paul Scholes look like he had the pace & speed of a ginger Usain Bolt.

Yeah, OK Nuri.

Sahin is a significantly better player than Joe Allen in central midfield.

If Rodgers can't see that, more fool him.

You've gone to quite a bit of trouble to prove a point that isn't there to prove. What exactly does your graph tell us ? It shows that we led the table up until late Jan/early Feb.

Right. You do fine until it matters, then you don't.

Not hard to figure out.

Congrats on winning the '09 January trophy though.

oh well didn't work out for him, so let's have a go at the previous club.
Nice to see it's working out so well for him at Dortmund, played 1 full game in 7 and the other 6 came on late in the game.

Suggest he is finding it hard to settle, no doubt will be shipped on somewhere else and have a pop at Dortmund when he leaves.

84min sub - 77min sub - Full Game -89min sub - 82min sub - 81min sub - 82min sub

Dortmund is a special club for him. I doubt he would do that. The reason he's not playing is because Gundogan is in great form. That's the only spot Nuri can really contest.

Rodgers is as big a fool as Klopp if that's the criteria then.

No, because Gundogan is flying, and also significantly better.

The reason you are better now is because you have new players, have Lucas back from injury, and have started to play players in their proper positions - see Downing, Enrique and Johnson.

This boom bust cycle is fine to poke fun at the Liverpool fans but you guys don't actually believe it do you? Their turnover in players and managers is too high for it to be a consistent trait for the club.

Future generations will point to the "Scouse Boom-Bust Cycle" as the definitive measure of time. Mayan calendars, Stonehenge, Swiss watches and NASA all pale into significance when debating such intricate details.

Not really surprising, since you hardly played him, when you did it was out of position, and he was unhappy.

My post from above pretty much covers your point:

I found it weird he wasn't given more of a go in a deeper role, to be honest.

Do agree he was very slow.

Eh? Playing out of position tends to make it hard for players to perform at their best.seems pretty logical.

The fact of the matter is wherever he goes he can't seem to make himself a regular in the team.

He never looked like he adjusted or settled into the English game, didn't have any pace, neither was he any good at the physical aspects either.
Sure he got forward and scored a few goals, but many games for us just seem to pass him by.

The limited chances he has so far had at Dortmund suggest the same is happening there, irrespective of how strong their squad may be, wouldn't be surprised if he was loaned out to another club at the start of next season.

What really disappointed me about the lad more than anything was his workrate, or should I say lack of it, when Liverpool didn't have the ball. It's a basic fundamental requirement of the modern day professional footballer that he puts in a good shift irrespective of where he's playing. We had a good taster of things to come when he made his debut against Arsenal at Anfield. Totally anonymous for most of the time he was on the pitch, whilst The Gooners strolled around the park playing effectively against what was 10 men. He walked off looking just as fresh as he did prior to kick-off. That sort of attitude was pretty much the norm even when he did get a game. I'm sure that was a fairly crucial factor in Rodgers deciding to get rid.

Hello!! Did you not see my reply mate?! The same thing isn't happening. He's just losing out to the man in form which is Gundogan. Sahin knows the German league very well as well as Dortmund's style.

He may be loaned out but for this case, it would be more down to Gundogan being in such great form and Sahin not getting the opportunities he wants. THere's not much he can do there.

His time at Liverpool is certainly questionable though.

Wow. You're fun, aren't you?

Of course his chances will be even more limited at a club filled with better players than Liverpool. You just can't discard that

Fair enough mate.

You'se never played him!

He made his debut when he started against Arsenal at Anfield in a 2-0 defeat. He played very well when we beat Norwich 5-2 at Carrow Rd. He started the following matches - Stoke City (H) 0-0. Reading (H) 1-0. Everton (A) 2-2. Newcastle United (H) 1-1. Chelsea (A) 1-1 - He was subbed in every game after making pretty much zero impact.

You could argue that he needed more playing time to get himself back up to scratch. But the one thing that stuck out for me was his reluctance to do any of the dirty work in chasing back, tackling, hassle the opposition, etc. I suspect that probably influenced Rodgers decision to get rid more than anything.

Throw the game? Or just beaten by a better team going for the title.

Didn't Chelsea beat United home and away that year? If so then surely that had an effect on who won the league, you couldn't beat them but you expect others to.

Our games against Chelsea were a farce that year, including the worst offside call in recent memory.

I didn't expect you to win, but it was pretty obvious you threw the game. Most of your fans openly admitted to wanting you to lose, to stop us winning the title.

They got their way. But doing long-term damage to yourself by surrendering CL football, just to score some short-term damage on us was pretty small time.

There's a danger they won't make the Europa League now. Channel 5 must be worried.

They're running out of Leagues not to qualify for.

You've gone to quite a bit of trouble to prove a point that isn't there to prove. What exactly does your graph tell us ? It shows that we led the table up until late Jan/early Feb. Had a few bad results which allowed United to grab the lead. We then won 10, & drew 1, of our last 11 games. This resulted in us hitting the highest ever points total for a runner-up at the time. United won the title with one of the highest points totals for the winners. It's not like we blew away a huge lead is it ? If you want to do one of your snazzy little graphs highlighting something like that, then just go back to last season when your own team choked away a significant lead. Or go back to the time when you were a zillion points clear of Arsenal but still somehow failed to win the title

Remember all week when I was saying Liverpool chokes when it matters and you were saying, "No, that's not true" and then they lost to Southhampton because they were actually playing a game that mattered?

That was funny, right?

He'll be back to training dogs for a living before long.

There's also something funny about Sahin scoring two for Dortmund today whilst Xoe Allen gets hauled off at halftime, in light of recent comments.
