Every season when the pressure is off they can string some results together.

And every season this ability is hailed as the new dawn.

And every season after they crumble to mediocrity when their is a mere ounce of expectation.

There is a graph I believe.

Liverpool are in better league form than everyone but us since the beggining of the year right?

Impressive, January signing were good business for them.

Spurs are in better form this year and they've lost just twice in the last 15 league games, I'd say that's what you're looking for from CL contenders rather than Liverpool's 4 in 15.

Ok, 3rd best in the league since 2013. Given that there are 4 CL spots available, I'd say they are in or close to CL contending form since the new year.

I can't understand why people are even questioning this, it's the rise in Bullishness that normally coincides with March/April when they have nothing to play for.

RVP is a better goalscorer.

I think RVP is the better all round player, but these stats don't lie, even if Suarez's goals are more centralized in braces and hat tricks vs smaller teams.

Also, Suarez has Downing, Henderson and an ageing Gerrard feeding him. RVP has Kagawa, Nani, Rooney and Giggs.

It's not though, we have made some progress this season - that's all we are saying.
There is a long way to go to compete with the best sides in the league, it would be daft to argue against that.
However, if we can have a good summer transfer window it is a realistic option to think of challenging top 4 next season.

And it's also wrong to say there is nothing to play for - we have lots to play for, to continue to finish as high as we can, is the pressure off for winning something, yes of course, but the challenge now is to carry on, we have won three league games on the run and we need to win as many as we can between now and the end of the season.

It is. And the proof is right here in this run thats being lauded.

2 games had expectation. Zenith and Oldham.

You lost them both.

All games have expectation, the fans expect the club to win every game.
That's unrealistic but....

The run is being lauded because we are inconsistent, which merely stresses the importance of carrying on and trying to go on a winning run.

Just went to look the table. Liverpool 6th on goal difference and Everton with a game in hand. So, could easily be 7th.

So, Liverpool are where they've been for the past couple of years, with the expected no pressure run this time of year.

Away record
4W 6D 4L

Not going to play in the CL this year or for a while because they will lose Suarez if they don't make it in this year.

Every game for Liverpool is pressure, do you seriously believe there is "no pressure" on the players, especially playing at home?

Do you really need someone to whip out the Liverpool graph?

And yes, some gams have less pressure for others. Your team always plays well when there is nothing to play for. Once you are within reach of a CL spot, your team will fall apart.

Can Liverpool get into Europa League if they finish 6th?

I presume with the FA Cup draw that Wigan/Blackburn/Millwall will qualify as losing finalists/winners, meaning Liverpool would need 5th (highly unlikely).

I can't see Liverpool hanging on to Suarez without even Europa League football to offer.

Really? Or maybe the team isn't good enough yet to get in the top 4 - something most Liverpool fans, me included would acknowledge.

Hopefully we can test the theory next season.

Yes Europe looks unlikely.

I don't think Suarez will leave next season, but it's logical the longer we are not in the Champions League the more likely it will become for possibly the season after.
Even though he has signed a long term deal.

Guardian: Steven Gerrard warns against complacency

"We can't afford to get carried away," says Anfield captain

Why do some people on here seem to have this misconception that Liverpool only produce a good run of results & performances when the pressure is off ?

There's no hard evidence or stats to qualify this. All things considered, there's been no great pressure or expectations on the team, or manager, this season. For the most part we've played pretty well but haven't had the results that maybe the performances have deserved. With a couple of good signings in Sturridge & Coutinho, along with the return to form of Lucas, our results are now starting to take on a more realistic look. That doesn't mean we're all banging the 'it's on' drum. But you'd have to be pretty blinkered not to see the good progress we're currently making under Brendan Rodgers.

He thinks Liverpool are the most in-form based on 2 back-to-back victories? Both of which they should be winning anyway?

Just checking.

The year Liverpool had their best League season since the backpass rule was in force and you still finished second?

It went AWOL alright!...

Liverpool fans will be up in arms. They still think its a myth that the back-pass rule ruined their club.

Reading the past page or so I think this image is appropriate:

6 wins, 2 draws, & 2 defeats in the last 10 PL games. 4 of those games were away to United, City, & Arsenal, & a home game to Spurs.

20 points is one less than Tottenham have managed during the same period.

We're in pretty good form whichever way you look at it. Remains to be seen if we can continue it, or improve on it come next season.

I hope their mood of optimism continue's, almost to fever pitch levels come August.
In fact i hope they have a really good fecking start next year, only for it all to feck up routinely yet again.

Going to surpass our 26 year drought with ease.

Yeah, we'd regularly thrash teams all because our keeper kept hold of the ball for 90 minutes

Liverpool would regularly use the back pass to hold on to leads in the 70s/80s in tight matches. All teams used to do it.

We'd also use it to change the angle of attack. If one side of the pitch was well protected by the opposition, you'd often see our keeper race across to the other side of the penalty area & throw the ball out to the other full-back to start a move on the opposite side of the field. It actually took years for other managers to suss something out that we could see week in & week out.

Revolutionary!

We've won a lot more silverware than you did during your 26 year drought. & of course, we've never been relegated.

Not really. Only in the League cup. In fact the records are remarkably similar in all other competitions.

Both clubs won a European cup
Both clubs won another European trophy-United CWC Liverpool Europa League
United won 4 fa cups Liverpool won 3 fa cups
United won 1 League cup Liverpool won 4 league cups.

In the last 15 you've won 8 games which is decent but hardly outstanding, and in doing so you've beaten 4 of the bottom 6, a half-arsed Swansea side and a Conference side. In that time you also managed to go out of the FA Cup v Oldham and out of the Europa League v Zenit. The two good teams you beat were Spurs (the better side on the day) and Zenit (with a comfortable lead). If that's CL form then the CL challengers must be terrible.

:lol::lol:

Maybe Fergie might try it sometime instead of blaming the referees for United's habitual annual European failings.

I suspected our cock up against Real Madrid/you lot beating Tottenham would deliver some comedy gold, but never this spectacular and so soon.
And from one of our own.
RAWK are losing their edge.

It certaily doesn't take much. Almost impressive, actually.

Don't forget the fake treble and the Pepe Reina Golden Gloves.
