Brentan Rodgers

Of those teams Rodgers is by far and away the most likely to be still in post in 5 years' times. That is a significant positive which is cause for optimism, not to mention the trajectory of the rise in quality in the past 18 months. Whether you want to acknowledge these factors as significant or not is your choice.

I consider Liverpool to have unearthed a gem in Rodgers. Not simply because he has his team playing arguably the league's best football and not just because of his ability to get players to improve but because everything about him indicates 'long term'. This isn't a manager de jour here as part of a trans-European junket. I firmly believe his capacity to stick around offers a lot to be optimistic about.

So, hows this one working out?

It's not the first time they've gone 3 seasons without a trophy for 50 years. It's the first time a manager hasn't won anything in his first 3 years at the club. Benitez didn't win anything in his last 4 years at Liverpool for example.

They must be actually on their worst run for lack of trophies ever. They've won one league cup in nearly 10 years.

ah yes, you're right. I've underthought it!
Makes a lot more sense now

But here's to them continuing the cold streak. Good job too, as last year's league near miss, and 2 semis this year could have gone a lot differently!

Taking a mid-table bunch of clowns similar to Newcastle and turning them into a unit that play breathtaking football at times despite spending probably the same amount that Newcastle do......Liverpool have basically emerged from nowhere to becoming a very serious contender to win the premier league....There's no harm in being in denial or delusional like you obviously are but Liverpool are a club to fear again even though they lost to us unexpectedly last weekend and it's all down to Brenton. Like I said - we need them not to finish in the Top 4 this season otherwise the next 10 years of PL football could be painful to watch

After them going in the lead and the raising of the arm™ I could almost hear him praise himself deep inside his maniac-mansion-sized-head:
"I just Mourinho'd Villa! No, even better...I Rodgered them! I'm such a smuck genius! They must love me! Hold on, where's the camera? Ok, now pretend you haven't seen it. Put the serious, smart face on...like on that great painting of me hanging at home. They'll love it. I can't wait to get home and listen to Hayseed Dixie's 'Wish I Was You'..."

"There are times when a manager has to hold up his hands and accept that Lovren's to blame. I'd never before seen someone shoot with his standing leg. Anyway, I was outstanding, and changed the formation 4000 times during the warm-down. ¡Hola!"

"I thought we were outstanding today. Stevie was absolutely brilliant. But here at Liverpool, we don't believe in winning trophies. Hence the song Y N W A, You'll never win anything is so important to everyone...here at Liverpool"

I feel bad for Brendan, his herpes will be flaring up again tonight.

Decent interview again from him in fairness, basically said they were junk as much as he could without saying it.

With that tan, I don't know whether to turn my monitor brightness up or down.

The only way I'd sack him is if Klopp was interested. Don't see a whole lot of point otherwise. We've done the managerial merry go round and it doesn't seem like there's anyone out there whose going to significantly improve us. We pretty much always end up in the same position at the end of the reign.

This is actually a good point. Could very well end up saving the expense of sacking a manager. Just meander on and hope for a season like last. However, there are candidates out there who are better than the one you have now.

He said recently that if Liverpool aren't in the Champions League next season that they should still have no problem signing top class players, yet just over a year ago reckoned United would have trouble signing top class players if not in the competition(having said at the time that Liverpool had had those problems when they previously failed to make the competition).

 what??

Resorting to long punts up to Balotelli in a semi-final vs a bunch of also rans in Villa. We were absolute shite. I've been a fan of Rodgers, but it's game like this which make me doubt his ability to win us trophies. I'm not really sure what the game plan was today.

Think I agree with that. I would take Klopp if he wanted the job (which I can't see being the case). A manager with pedigree and a proven record as a winner - too good to miss out on for a club like us which a year ago, would have had very little chance of attracting him. Otherwise, last season has bought Rodgers another season for me.

If he's still in a job then he really needs to get it right in the summer. Lovren, Balotelli, Markovic, Moreno, Lallana, Lambert. Last year's transfer business has proven to be absolutely atrocious.

Lovren today, athletic macho posing leaps but can't head the ball either

Gerrard was non existent until very late on.

Moreno & Lallana retain some potential for me, Markovic must be better than this surely?

Mario & Lambert were gambles that have failed - Studge's injuries are the problem there, really.

Very apt. His celebrations are very Hitler like.

Doubt Liverpool will seriously consider sacking him at this stage. In a way it is similar situation to Pellegrini where firing him at this stage will do more harm than good. Liverpool are still in with a chance of top 4 on us/City so owners will not take drastic step. Overall imo, he has done decently for them and even in summer, they will consider sacking him only if they get some good replacement.

Can't help but worry that this is all falling in line for Klopp to be their new manager, Which I would hate.

Lads it's time again for KRAP.

We must keep Klopp away from Kop.
