Brentan Rodgers

Losing to Bournemouth doesn't seem so unrealistic. Bournemouth are flying now - 1st in the Championship.

Talk of the sack is terribly premature, if not for an outrageously untenable run of defeats. He should have enough in the bank to last him until the end of the season, at which point I think Liverpool should evaluate. The title only just slipped away, after all.

In the meantime, I think he seriously needs to invest in some help on the coaching side of things. He isn't defensively all that aware, as statistics show across his whole managerial career, but if he has the self-awareness and maturity - and we all know that Brento definitely does not - to identify his own weaknesses and do something about them then I think he will improve as a coach. Doubtful, however.

Liverpool then have to do something about the transfer market. If Rodgers can't improve in this aspect then I don't think he'll amount to anything much going forward. Just a less impressive Kevin Keegan, perhaps.

Those three certainly would. I think even players at the level of Cech, Cahill and Walcott would sort out many of our problems.

Seen, but I was trying to fathom where you think adding three players at that level would take you.

The ironic thing is that his whole self-help guru image seems to blind him to his own weaknesses, rather than making him more conscious of them.

There is nothing realistic about wanting Cahill though, he was never available.

Neither was Walcott. They were just examples. Not once did I say that they were realistic signings because I don't think any of the three are.

You could probably grab Walcott and Cech with good offers. £20m for Walcott and £12m for Cech and you would have got them.

I doubt Arsene would sell Walcott for that price, especially considering we haven't seen what he can do with Ozil, let alone with Ozil and Sanchez in the same side.

Walcott was playing very very well and was scoring/assisting at a rate comparable to Bale prior to his big injury.

He did tell him to go to Sunderland. If Borini wanted to stay and fight for his place and/or pick up his wages every week there was nothing Rodgers could do. He was clear that he wasn't in his plans.

Again, this is another one of these where we ask, "Why did he buy him then?"

At the moment he's treating Borini like some player that was already at the club when he arrived and now utterly despises because he can't get rid of him. Bit rich when he actually authorised the purchase.

That's fine, it's fair to criticise the Borini signing. No need to slag Rodgers off because Borini turned down Sunderland though.

Rodgers said: "We have to recapture the team ethos. With the emphasis of the team, it is clear to me that we are searching to find solutions.

"The players are working hard, the players have given everything, they are pressing and they are working.

"In every dressing room there have always been been issues, but it is not something I discuss outside of the dressing room. The players are honest but we are not getting results.

"I can’t fault the commitment of the players because they gave everything.

"We didn’t deserve to lose, but we need to be more clinical.

"Their keeper got man of the match and that tells you everything. We created more chances against United than in the last five or six games but we are disappointed with the first and the third goal.

"The second one was clearly offside. With the players we had we did the best we could."

Started to hang the players out to dry.

Issues in the dressing room but he doesn't want to talk about that.

With the players he's having to work with, that's the best they can do.

So who was actually injured?

Just checked who they were missing.

Sturridge and possibly Flanagan who might have started.

We were missing Di Maria, Blind, Shaw and Rojo from our starting XI.

So what does he mean "with the players he has"? He just came second and then spent £120m letting just one player go...

Carrick and Rooney could also have been MOM, that tells you everything you need to know.

We put three past them, yet apparently they were better because they created (more like wasted) more chances than us? Tells you everything you need to know.

I could go on and on, he talks out of his arse, but we all know that.

You know what's better than 100 chances created? 1 chance finished.

Sterling should have done better, yes, but you can't just lay that at the door of your 20yr old winger. Rodgers should have considered that before starting the match without a striker.

Don't forget Rafael and Smalling. Smalling minus his brain fart vs City has been our best defender this season. And would have started yesterday.

So we played with 6 alternate XI players, won 3-0 and he's complaining of missing one player after spending £120m on his squad this summer.

Bet this cnut is over the moon with sulking Bibotelli's commitment.

I think the owners will look at his position in a far more objective way than pundits and the media.

If results don't improve in short order he will be gone.

He could have made it clear this was not possible, he has given the player mixed signals by actually playing him even if only a little bit, January is another opportunity to talk with Sunderland.

I get the wages bit, we have the same problem with Anderson but we just don't play him, there was also the possibility of doing some deal where he still gets a certain amount for the duration of his contract as I'm assuming Liverpool would still heavily profit.

He did make it clear it wasn't possible. I don't know what more you thought he could do, he told him in public (and most likely in private too) that he should go to Sunderland. He wasn't included in the squad until a few weeks after the window had shut either, there was no mixed signals while the window was open.

If a player is under contract and wants to stay it's ultimately his choice.

The way I see it, Liverpool are suffering from coming so close to the title and collapsing... or err slipping. Coupled with losing their best player to Barca, and their second best player through injury, the entire squad is deflated (and filled with some shite that used to play for the Saints).

They're doing the opposite of what we did when we came second to Leeds. Instead of improving their team and actually "going again", they've bought shite and are playing appropriately.

Rodger's fate will hang on the next few matches, but if they do sack him, who replaces him? Not many decent managers available in January, unless they want to roll KKK out for another triumphant return.

I don't know who'd be the interim if Brendan got the sack during the season. Stevie Me? Not so sure he's ready. Colin Pascoe would probably walk with Brendan. Ronald De Boer opened his mouth yesterday suggesting his brother Frank would be interested in the Liverpool job this time, unlike 2012.

For a start stick to his word and not play him then, January is another month, Poyet seems to be a fan.

God knows what Borini is thinking probably "He has already given me a chance this season, i'll probably get another."

So it's Rodgers' fault that Borini didn't leave before September because Rodgers gave him a few appearances after the window shut?

Christ. There's enough to criticise Rodgers for, no need to create situations were he did nothing wrong.

Liverpool are better off accepting a bid of £5-6m from a Serie A club and moving on, rather than holding out for £14m when the only clubs that will offer that kind of fee are relegation threatened teams that he isn't interested in.
