Brentan Rodgers

Agger seemed to really love Liverpool so it's weird that he left because he ws dropped a few times. Must have been a real clash with Rodgers, which happens I guess, but why go to Denmark?

He said Brondby were the other team he'd ever want to play for except Liverpool.

That's pretty cool then. I'm sure he could've earned a lot more money elsewhere.

Yeah I'd say he could have, though maybe the small transfer fee means Brondby can afford to pay him a bit more. Have to respect Agger though, he's not one of those guys who pretends to love a club only when it suits him.

Fair play to Agger, though, wasn't it said that he was breaking down physically, at least to some extent?

A rare Liverpool player I didn't dislike immensely.

He said that yeah, though he also said later it was because of his fall-out with Rodgers. So either he couldn't say the real reason to the official site when they interviewed him or there's a bit of truth in both reasons.

He did have the chance to move to City (possibly Barcelona too) in the past though so definitely not just in it for the money anyway. One of my favourite players.

"We're reintroducing the principles that brought us the win ratio we've had over the last 18 months," he said.
"Our game was based on high intensity but, apart from that Tottenham game, we've moved away from that."

He's aware that he is to blame for that, right?

"But we introduced a raft of new players - you lose the core of players who were important, and that's obviously a factor and then it becomes a bit broken."

What core of players? Isn't it just Suarez?

He does himself no favours really, Rodgers. Absolutely choc full of shit.

I'm guessing he means injuries, because the only other important player to our squad who left was Agger.

Not saying injuries makes it a better excuse though, just saying that's what I think he means.

Yep, just dotting the i's and crossing the t's. Even if they find we don't meet FFP City and PSG have paved the way for expensive lawyers to come in and quell any eyebrow raising.

How have they done that then? They copped it big style if I remember correctly

And we should all hope Liverpool, and United included that they don't find a way of quelling anything to do with FFP, if they do then there will only be one outcome in future transfer markets.

Not sure how badly Barca, City and PSG are feeling any 'brunt' of FFP so far. Where there's a cent there's a way:

Obviously didn't fancy legal action on that side of FFP, but they are going to have to grow some balls, and get some good lawyers in future, because there is no doubt they will be challenged at some point over it.

The sanctions on PSG, and City were fairly good this year because it crucially hindered them badly in the transfer market, and long may it continue, because unchecked they will just dominate the market, and ultimately football, which can't be a good thing for two clubs that really shouldn't be at the top of the game, for me it's like putting a F1 engine in a Renault Clio, just not right.

I agree with FFP and am glad we've been working on merchandising side to ensure we meet it too. But if we don't then the bigger fish will show us the way out of the quaqmire should we need it.

Agreed, though personally I think FFP needs some adjustments. I'm all for stopping oil clubs from buying success but FFP in its current format is going to make it impossible for smaller players to break into the status quo.

Unless you've tried to fix a broken plane in mid air then you can't laugh at Rodgers for saying that Liverpool are broken.

He's winging it.

Steve's had him nailed from day one, Brendys quarkometer has been exposed to too much Beta-carotene since he's has a bit of success.

Mighty Red already gets enough stick over on RAWK, now he's tasked with warp driving the merchandising aspect? That could be a disaster.

Someone left a water bottle on his chair?

Not at all anything to do with a player that was directly responsible for 50% of your goal output Brentan.

No, nothing at all to with that.

I can see his point about core players missing in the sense that this team has quite a few new first team players so they might not be so good with that high intensity game but then he is the one who wants to play all the new players. He has the option of playing mostly last season's lot who are quality at the high intensity game with 1 or 2 new players so they pick it up.

Finished 2nd last season then replaces most of the team with players who performed lesser than Liverpool and expected the same result.

It's not the players that got them second, it was the manager. Ask any Liverpool fan, just like Ferguson finished second before going onto to win the league and starting an era of dominance, Rodgers finished second and will go onto win the league and be the next Ferguson.

Yeah, seemed like Barca were all over him for a time.

I really doubt they were. It seemed more a case of Liverpool fans going "our players are so good Barcelona want to sign them!" Agger is an alright defender on his day, but surely not someone Barcelona could have more than a fleeting interest in at the very most, and more likely none. He hasn't even been good for the last couple of years.

Not sure whether they made a bid or not but it wasn't just English media reporting it, Catalan media did too, and Agger has mentioned the interest.

I think Agger is a lot better than you say, but even if he's not it's probably worth pointing out that Barcelona aren't exactly fantastic in the centre back market...when they buy Vermaelen, being interested in Agger is hardly unbelievable.

Rodgers is going to be the next Ferguson?

I'm speechless

Well, Barca brought Vermaelen when there were better options so I wouldn't put it past them.
