I like him as a manager, although I do find him weird at times. I'll be interested to see how he does in the Champions League.

Controversial call here but, I'm going to risk the wrath of the cheeky la's here and say, it's going to go tits up in the coming months

They're going to be well out of the title race by January and a good 8 points adrift of the Top 4.

Not really. If You buy a Heskey, you kind of know you fecked up the transfer.

When We buy diMaria, Falcao, Herrera, Blind, an Rojo; we can say that we have a pretty good summer.

Nope. See the likes of Sturridge and Shevchenko as examples of both (a transfer that was expected to fail turning into a star and a transfer expected to be a star flopping).

How much work has he had done on himself? Is he a movie star or a football manager?

He's had his teeth done and almost certainly utilises tanning beds, like I said above, I like him as a manager but he's a strange man.

Likely to appeal to try and appeal to Americans, the teeth at least. Not a bad idea marketing-wise. We've done the same by getting a manager in who looks like he's just stepped out of a Lynch film.

Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema going at that defence?!
Kroos and Khedira bossing their midfield and a soul destroyed Gerrard.....

It'll be a slaughter

I don't know.

At Anfield they'll be running around like mad things and not giving Madrid a moments peace and at the Bernabeu if they can stifle them then it'll work.

Madrid are in trouble at the minute as well, their new signings aren't as good as ones they've sold (Di Maria > James) or they haven't properly bedded in/may not fit in (Kroos vs. Xabi Alonso) so they're not the force they were last season.

If Ronaldo isn't arsed then they won't score nearly as many either.

People wrote off Barca against city last season similarly to this post, and they beat City comfortably. Madrid will beat Liverpool.

So his comments about it being harder to qualify for the CL the 2nd season in a row. Lowering expectations in case the transfers go belly up or trying to make himself look beter if he does get them in the top 4 again?

Making himself look better.

It's a sure thing they are going to do well in the group stages including the games against Madrid. I wouldn't bet against them winning it at anfield even. I don't think they have the depth to go lot further into the comp., though.

His decision to rest Sterling for Ludo somebody. Over confidence?
Naïve. Villa at home is a bigger game really. Not good record against them, him personally not a good record against Lambert. Ludogorets isn't a better team than Villa. They'll have to travel and they're probably going to be nervous. A game Liverpool should win comfortable. Don't see why Sterling couldn't have played both games at this point of the season.

I agree. Or at least started to ensure they had their best team out there, then have the game wrapped up by 65 minutes and take him off then.

At Anfield? It's no foregone conclusion if they arrive in poor form and Liverpool show typical home form.

I'd sure enjoy the meltdown if Liverpool don't make the top 4. The Bren would have 100 other people to blame all ready.

I suppose he could just look at the excuses on here for why Liverpool did get into the top four and spin them into reverse...is that how it works?

Nah, Bren will blame half the refs in the league, the FA, the groundsman, the envelopes he wrote his players' names in, anyone but his squad, their performances and himself.

Here we blamed the squad, the performances and the manager.

United not being shit this season will be a good one yeah.

Oh yeah, all those managers who blame themselves and the squad for being poor. Which ones are those again?

Decent piece on MNF last night by Carra and Nev about how Agbonlahor marked Gerrard out the game and Liverpool struggled to create much. Coupled with the fact Villa just sat deep and hit long balls to launch counters, it seems the blue-print on how to beat Liverpool is clear (thanks Jose?).

Hopefully other managers adopt the same tactics and take many more points from them. Should be easier to pull of now as well with Slippy G looking his age and without the genius of Suarez. Up to Brent to find a solution and quick.

Pellegrinis City side did exactly the same earlier in the season, without the unpredictability of Suarez and the telepathy from Sterling and Sturridge it's all a bit flat.
