To my knowledge Mancs haven't been the victims of racism based on the colour of their skin..

Does being called a Manc grate in a similar manner to "Paki"? A word associated with hatred?</strong><hr></blockquote>
If you read all my posts in this thread you'd now I was called a Paki all through my life in England 'til I was 19ish. I learned that it was the ignorant and uneducated that called me that in order to hurt my feelings, but I won't rehash what I've already said.

I used to go to a Paki shop on the corner of my street in Sheffield all the time. Am I racist for using that name in that way? In college I knew a kid from Afghanistan and a kid from Pakistan, they were both called Aziz and everyone referred to them as Afghani Aziz or Paki Aziz. All we did was drop the stan! Neither of them gave a shit and they are both still friends of mine today.

The Uzbek’s, Tajik's and Afghani's don't have a problem with dropping the stan and my Pakistani friends don't either. Why do you?

Selective morality seems to be rampant on these boards and you are the CEO. When it suits ya you get on your moral high horse and damn everybody at will.

btw, in answer to your question...

When a scouser calls me a manc it does grate on me as much as when I was called a Paki.

I dislike intensely hearing the scouse accent at the best of times and when I am called a manc by one it is usually laden with hate anyway.

I consider being called a Paki in a derogatory form an admission of ignorance by the messenger rather than an attempt at insulting me. They don't have the vocabulary or intelligence to form an acceptable comment thus stooping to the insult level. I feel nothing but pity for them.

I'm neither "on my high horse" or "damning everyone at will"....I'm commenting in a discussion and you don't like my point of view....

And I agree...it is the ignorant and 'kin stupid who stoop to phrases like "feckin paki", I'm sure not everyone can rise above it in a similar manner to yourself...that doesn't make it right

Its clearly not the same re language used with people you know well...I call my mates feckin nobends..I'd expect a different reaction from a stranger if I said similar

Agreed, my tolerance has become almost sponge like over the years so my understanding of someone else’s racial injustice could be construed as insensitive.

Your point of view, believe it or not, is welcomed by me simply because we often have a differing one which leads to a juicy debate. Conversely, the racial issue is best left alone as it often turns into an unyielding pissing match and some errs can be made during interpretation.

This is a contentious issue that's run the gamut of feelings on here so I'm gonna bid adieu to this topic.

See you in another thread...

Uzbeks, Tajiks and Afghanis are the names of races or groups of people from Asia. 'Stan' means Land in Persian., eg. Tajikstan means land of the Tajiks... 'Paki' isn't a race of people.

Davo stated that its been used as rascist term, over the last few decades.

Whatever people wanna say or think, I and people who know me know that I'm far from a racist. And starting calling me HitlerElect is, to use your own word Davo, pathetic.

As I've said on countless occasions over the last 24 hours, I couldn't care less what colour, race or religion people are. It doesn't matter to me one little bit.

I get the impression that many racists would not actually admit to being so...

In fact I'd say some are not even aware that their behaviour could be so construed..

It is down to each invidual what their feelings on racism are and they will naturally bring personal experiences with them when deciding those feelings.
I grew up in a very affluent part of what was in the main a very run down town. Where I lived had no non-white residents and I never mixed with non whites until I was 12 when a pakistani became my best mate at school. We were friends until we were 19/20 and then we went in seperate directions. He was western in his lifestyle and I did not mix with any other non whites.
I have seen first hand the injustices suffered by Asians being attacked by white hooligans and I have also seen first hand white houses and people being attacked by Asians. Segregation was the big problem - Asians would not stray from the safety of living with other Asians and whites were happy to let that happen. Hopefully as time goes on integration will become more common place although in Oldham I understand in places steel fences now seperate the different communities.
Racism will always exist because there will always be bigots on both sides but it must be remembered that racism works both ways. I do feel the politically correct lobby has gone too far and now any reference to a persons skin made by a white person is immediately jumped on as racism but when I am abused because I am white it is hushed up in case it upsets the racial harmony - this situation only helps perpetuate the problem.

I can't be bothered to read thru all this, so apologies if I'm going over old ground - but what is the point of transfer listing a player if you're not going to sell him. Several people have said it's just bluff - but that seems pointless. If they want to punish Bowyer, they might just as well say that he's not going to play again in the first team until he pays the fine.

LUFC PLC have to be seen to do something to limit the damage done and that is why they are being hard on the players involved.

Talk about jumping on the bandwaggon.

I say fair play to Leeds for wanting to get rid of them because lets face it, Bowyer and Woodgate (whether innocent or not) have dragged Leeds United's name through the mud and their players are going to get stick at away grounds from now on over it.

To out it into perspective, if a MUFC player was alegedly, a racist thug, would we want them at the club? Even if it was one of our best players?

I would say boot em out!
