Can't see him amounting to much from here, wasn't even good in the Eredevise.

From 900 goals at youth level to Stoke  Now we finally get to see if he can do it on a cold Tuesday night...

He obviously has talent, just the wrong mentality.

He obviously has talent, just the wrong mentality.

Frank de Boer said it was mainly a fitness/physical problem with him. Injuries have played its part and it's not like he has a bad mentality or something, not at all, but he's just never got into a physical shape where he was able to play full throttle for 90 minutes. Played on talent his whole career, at Barca he didn't need great physical shape, never played a full season as undesputed starter at a club to build up that 100% match fitness.

De Boer was pretty impressed by the footballing side of him and he played some pretty good matches for Ajax, but he just lacked that engine (which de Boer thinks he potentially has if he's superfit and works his ass off). Problem is he's pretty expensive for Ajax and they have great youth prospects coming through, otherwise they would've kept him for sure.

I think the biggest surprise about all of this is the fact that he's only 23!! Seems like he's been around forever!

Don't think he was overrated as a kid. He was a great player back then.

Yeah because he made his first steps at Barca already at 17 years old. What a huge talent he was, him, Messi and Dos Santos should be Barca's mighty 3-man attack. But only Messi made it and they need to spend neary 200 million to get the other 2 players

I don't think an attack with Dos Santos and Bojan would be very mighty. Even Ibrahimovic wasn't very mighty when he was there.

That's true. He had a good season in 07/08 and did well in the cup in 08/09. Since then it seemed to go downhill and he struggled to get into the team with people like pedro, ibrahimovich and villa ahead of him.

He peaked very early. He was also a monster player with spain's youth divisions but burned out and decided not to play with them anymore. Thing is he had to compete (not always directly) with names like Villa, Eto'o, Ibra, Henry, etc. Same goes for Dos Santos, who is a great little player himself but maybe not what Guardiola wanted and maybe not to the level desired.

I always had the feeling he had a major mental breakdown once Guardiola decided to kick him out after he had a great role during the season Ibra was on the bench. He was kinda used and thrown away by Pep. He even mentioned it in an interview, said he cried during the CL final when with some minutes left another player was subbed in and he was completely ignored. He's also had bad luck with his loans. I always feel bad for the guy.

Obviously talented but his issues I think have all been mental issues. Pep is a great manager but he really destroyed the confidence of this man.

Done Dealio. Bojan

Fair play to Sparky, trying to build a team that actually plays entertaining football wasn't easy with the squad he inherited.

Heard from a happy Stoke fan

Incredibly happy with the signing, the rumours were sprouting a week or two back but things started to stall. Then they reemerged but it looked like he had to make a choice between Stoke or Deportivo - all logic pointed to him joining Depor (assumed he'd rather stay in Spain than try out such a demanding league when he hasn't exactly impressed elsewhere). Saw last night that we were once again favourites and I've just got home from work to find he's signed on a four year deal!

Hughes has really aimed to move us forward as a club, while we are eternally grateful with Pulis for consolidating our position as a top flight club we had stagnated and slowly started rolling back down the hill. Hughes has been incredible, not a bad word to say for him so far - and this from someone who was really against the idea when he was being linked with the job. Our football has improved drastically and last season was enjoyed far more than the previous one.

Not only have his signings been youthful and positive (as oppose to Pulis' technique of buying average but established players) but also very cheap. We've barely spent anything under his management (although there may be other reasons behind this) but each signing has been fantastic. It's for this reason I'm rather looking forward to seeing Bojan in a Stoke shirt and I hope that this bright talent can restart his career.

All the other teams he's played for have been near the top of their respective leagues, where the chances of regular game time are slim, a slight drop in level should hopefully do him the world of good. He'll have good competition for places too, in the attacking department we currently have Diouf, Arnautovic, Crouch (hopefully leaving), Odemwingie, Assaidi, Walters and now Bojan. Haven't a clue what formation Hughes is going to conjure up to fit these guys in, part of the excitement.

So things are looking very good for us right now, there's a lot of excitement around this signing. Also a lot of intrigue regarding where he'll play or whether he'll start from the bench. Hope we see why he was once regarded as one of the best young players on the planet.

Bojan is crap. He struggled to score in Holland which is some feat(Jozy Altidore was scoring for fun in Holland). Will most likely end up being a massive disappointment for Stoke.

Could happen that they want to see if the english league can turn him into a man. A lot of south european players have developed really well when coming to the english league. Look at Ronaldo, Gattuso, Juninho, Ravanelli, DiCanio. He will be surrounded by guys who will protect him and he will be their biggest star/name. There's a turn-around chance for him if he can find some sort of role for himself like the goal scorer or becoming a good ball transporter for Walters.
