Body Found in Tia Sharp's Grandmother's house

Had no real choice but to change his plea, they had way too much evidence against him. He had secretly filmed her in her sleep, searched for child porn (with terms including "violent forced rape" and "little girls in glasses"), had her blood on his belt and on a sex toy and his semen on the bed clothes where she slept. I think he also had pictures of her that appeared to be taken after her death.

After all that his lawyer pleaded mitigating circumstances because he hadn't planned it and he "probably" loved her. It's sick.

That's what lawyers do. You need a strong stomach to be a criminal defence attorney.

He won't last long in the nick. Dead within a few months I reckon.

It's a popular conception that nonces get targeted in Prison. I'm sure they do, but it's rarely successful. Not like in films at least. Huntley's still going. As is Ian Brady. Roy Whiting got attacked but is also still alive. They generally die from killing themselves more than being "got"

I'm assuming this guy will be locked up in the equivalent of a maximum security prison, along with hard drug dealers, murderers, rapists... the typical max security prison crowd. This caliber of people (emphasis on people) get together and mark child molesters and killers for extermination?

You couldn't make it up

I don't blame the lawyers, that's their job. It's just the notion of the family having to hear that he "loved" her, it's grotesque.

Why?

Didn't know prisoners were so righteous.

He's a sex offender; a "beast". They usually come in for special attention from the other cons. He'll be segregated as far as they possibly can, but he'll be a target all right. All it takes is for the screw that's watching him to turn the other way for a moment, and it's curtains.

It is grotesque and must have been awful, but the lawyer has to play the hand he's been dealt. Such a plea in mitigation would do nothing to sway a judge or jury to sympathy, unless, and I repeat, unless, there's been expert testimony to the effect that the guy was deranged and in his own sick mind, "loved" the poor lass. It's feeble and distasteful but if that's all you've got...

Nonces in prison are always made aware, by the screws or by other cons, that they're going to get done. Sutcliffe got blinded, and it wasn't too long ago that a paedophile was murdered at Full Sutton Prison in Yorkshire, by the same con who slashed Huntley's throat. Catweazle was also murdered in his cell in the 90s. Believe me, if the cons want you dead, then they'll find a way.

It's not so easy these days to get to a sex offender. CCTV keeps the screws on their toes and a con is taking a big chance if he offers any kind of inducement to a screw.
