Bluemoon goes into Meltdown

Seems to view the possibility as a lot less likely. I don't think it's a laughing matter, we're not in the market for a new manager this summer, strikes me as possible he could end up there. Not likely maybe, but possible. And it's a frightening possibility.

Is it? I can't say I'd be that worried, to be honest. He's a fantastic manager and everything but we're already up against Mourinho so it's hardly a new problem. And it's not as if we're talking about Guardiola at City when they had near-infinite spending power and could blow everyone else out of the water in the transfer window. If anything we're now the financially stronger out of the two clubs.

If there was any truth at all about Pep wanting to manage United at some point then he'll know City first is a no-go.

Of course it's not. There's no way we wouldn't sign Aguero for example.

And Matt Busby himself played for City and (possibly captained?) Liverpool.

I love how Kompany says that it's the right time to play us, when it's possibly the worst possible time to play us seeing as we're playing our best football in years and scoring for fun. What exactly is his logic?

His logic is a win in the derby against an in-form United side that is above City in the table would be the perfect way to bounce back from the prior results. If our next game was at home to Leicester, for example, then City would be expected to win anyway and if we did so it would not really mean much other than the three points and would unlikely have much impact on momentum for the following game.

That wasn't underwhelming from what I remember. The underdogs won the league on the final day of the season and it caused more of a stir than City winning the league last year.

I literally have no recollection of it. That season couldn't end soon enough and Moyes leaving + SlippyMe was where it all ended for me, roll on the World Cup. I only know they won it because people keep referring to "the defending champions".

Maybe I scare easily. Or maybe I'm naive enough to believe Guardiola might have something that transcends the ability to buy the best players with the wads if cash thrust into his hand. Probably a bit of both.

Either way, how much money City have is, for the purposes of this discussion, not a variable. Whether they have Guardiola, Martinez or Klopp will not determine the amount of money they have to spend. So the question is, with X to spend, would we prefer them to have Guardiola or some other manager? I'd prefer the latter. And beyond that, I'd expect Guardiola to have them competitive even without spending a fortune.

I can't remember if you are the guy I quoted but that's pretty much what I'm saying. The year Blackburn won it was much more memorable than City winning it last year in my opinion.

The Match of the Day intro is really the only evidence that they won it..

Disagree with that completely. Busby is from a massively different era.

Signing Van Persie from Arsenal was huge, but to sign a player direct from Liverpool or City would be outrageous and doesn't happen.
Even less chance of it happening with a manager.

Unless you're talking a 5-10 year gap managing someone else in between, but either way, it's definitely one or other for Pep.

How come you're not one?:)

I have a similar situation.
I love United, he likes Liverpool and hates United.
He's a big Hajduk Split fan, I'm a Dinamo fan (biggest Croatian derby and rivalry)

As for Bluemoon, they're funny, they think we're obsessed with them and our game vs them is a cup final when the truth is Liverpool game is our biggest game and they're still just our lousy neighbors trying to be tuff. Basically they're still a small club, just lucky enough to be loaded with money if you ask me.

I'm not sure. He always says that he gave me the choice to support who I like and not force Liverpool on me. He regrets it now though. My 2 younger brothers and I all support United. When I was younger, we get some weird looks when he's in his Liverpool jersey and his 3 kids follow him in United jerseys. People thought we were going to attack him.

I think if you support 2 teams he hates then you probably decided to do that to annoy him. :)

This year we were all desperate to beat Liverpool to make up for last season. They did well (mostly) and we were poor. We had a score to settle. This week, no one is mentioning that City are champions. We don't care and everyone else has forgotten. It would take 50 years and £50 billion of oil money to make City matter as much as United or Liverpool.

You might be right but football has gotten more tribal since then. You'd imagine that someone used to the Barca Real rivalry would be cautious about managing the rivals of a club he wants to work at.

It's a bigger issue for the selling club (and the player himself) than the buying one, I think. Would we buy Aguero? Yes. Did anyone bat an eyelid that they were after Rooney (the first time he threatened to leave)? No. But would they ever sell us Aguero? No. And would it have been 10x more humiliating if Rooney had joined City rather than, say, Chelsea? Yes. Obviously the preference would have been for him to leave England but if he had to go elsewhere in the PL Chelsea would have been less awful than City.

It's a slightly different dynamic with managers. I agree Guardiola wouldn't work at City if he actively wanted to go to United. The question is, does he? Is it a case of, if both offers were on the table and all else was equal he'd choose United? Or is it the more extreme, he doesn't want to do anything to jeopardise an opportunity that may or may not arise in the future? I believe the first but I'm not so sure about the second. I think timing could end up being the deciding factor.

Given the fact he's likely to stick around at Bayern for the time being anyway, all this is quite irrelevant.

I would like City to shell out a fortune on a steaming pile of horse manure.

Bit like Liverpool did on Andy Carroll.

I can see City shelling out for Sturridge at some point. Pretty sure he'll count as club grown for them, and without being the main man up front there'll be less pressure on him than there is at 'pool.

Same story, he didnt pressure me to be a Hajduk fan when I was a kid, so when I started school one of the 1st words I heard there was Dinamo so from then on I was a Dinamo fan (although at that time I didnt even watch football :) ). He regrets it now just as your dad and he is always on about how in fact deep down I'm a Hajduk fan cause him and his dad, my late grandad were Hajduk fans. But he knows you dont change few things in your life and favorite football club is one of them.
He buys my baby girl lots of Hajduk stuff but she's a girl and probably will hate football so I dont care. If I'll have a son that will be another story. He'll be a Dinamo fan since the day he will be born. :D

As for United, I think it was vice versa, he started to support Liverpool just to annoy me. :D

Only matter in which we get along is the national team.

San Marino?

I don't even have that because my Dad was raised in England. He thinks the Irish team is rubbish. I do too but it annoys me when he says it.
He does defend the English national team sometimes but that's an impossible task so he doesn't do it too often.

£42m for Managala.

I found these online (obviously).

£28m on Bony, £16m on Javi Garcia, £30m on Fernandhino, £26m on Jovetic. Our record isn't spotless either but it is noticeable that none of the players since Aguero are 'big names'. Either that's deliberate or winning the league twice hasn't massively improved how easily they can attract the top players.

Had a nosey what them lot have been saying about us (ragcafe, facebook etc) they now have it in their heads that their a superia team to us. They genuinely think they have the devine right to beat us and they are better than us in every aspect.

For feck sake City! Why do you do it to us? We really need to stop arsing about and put that shite back in it's place, nothing worse than uneducated, over excited united fans. Embarrassing!
Even there players are coming out about sticking it to us.... especially bog brush head. They still play long ball to him and at the minute it is working and they are picking up points, however I think we will go there and show them that we are still superior, lose against us and Chelsea next week and they will back battling for 4th place if Liverpool get their act together.

3-1 win for us
Nothing worse than a rag who hasn't a scooby about football in the slightest trying to debate a derby result. Honestly, one of them even compared them to Barca, they actually said they play in the same style as Barca and will dominate us. It's either a blue on the wind up or it's a pissed up Andy Tate. Fair enough they beat Liverpool, Spurs are known bottlers this time a year and come on, no disrespect, it's Aston Villa! I watched their game on Saturday and it bored the life out of me!

Bitter blues. Nothing new there. The hatred runs deep because of long inferiority.

It's brilliant, literally no one remembers the league win except their own support. We do actually have to thank them for that win, can you imagine what it would have been like if the dippers had won? We'd be having it mentioned repeatedly for 10 years.

Oh how they make things up. Who has compared us to Barcelona.

That guy who marukomu cited is great. Illiterate as hell but nothing worse than uneducated united fans.

Hey bitters who are reading this:

ralph-waving-Simpsons-gif.gif

Relax, we all know you're still just our lousy neighbour.

You're some kind of comedian?

Just being realistic mate. The comment that you play like Barcelona, was and is hilariously stupid. And presumably that's why someone on Bluemoon picked up on it. Without any judgement whatsoever on how good/bad/indifferent United are, they are NOTHING like Barca.

And I only just realised it was you who suggested City fans made up this comparison, whereas as you can see, they did not.

Maybe he meant we play the similar style.
If he didnt mean it I mean it.

Most clubs are nothing like barca so you discovered nothing new there.

Maybe City will have problems with our posession style football maybe they wont, we'll see. If they'll play flat 4-4-2 it will perfect for us I think.

Ya since the 'Aguero days' they have spent something like £250 million but only added 1 starting XI player in Fernandinho or Fernando, which ever one usually plays.

They could be at fault for their own fall. £250 million on top of a title winning squad is a scary thought but they some how managed to feck that up

Oh and superia team.

I couldn't stop laughing at this either, instantly what pop into my head was some middle east City fan trying to fit in on the forum by making them believe he's actually from Manchester by typing how they speak
