Well no, it's not. If you actually look at the figures, our FFP situation is only going to continue to improve.

Well you'd probably know the figures better than us but do you believe that you could afford the investment neccessary based on your performances this year and the age of your squad?

Easily. Look at how much we spent this season. That figure should be able to increase each season as our revenues rise and FFP restrictions are no longer in place. As to whether we can spend successfully, of course that's a different matter. But the finances are there to do so. Plus, it is around now that the foreign talent we have imported for our youth squads should be maturing and getting some minutes in the first team. I have faith that a couple of them at worst will be able to do a decent job in the squad for next season. Lopes, Denayer and Iheanacho will hopefully get opportunities next season.

Seems like most of BM want him gone.
Most of us have seen it coming for a while - one or two just starting to notice.
But Pellers hasn't got a clue and I think he actually wants to be put out of his misery with his lifeless assistant. No passion on the pitch - none off it. Get rid NOW

four four feckin' two *shakes head and walks away*

Didn't they win the league playing 4-4-2?

He has to feck off as soon as possible but those pricks of players are as guilty as him. They play when they want, and they're ready to drop games to have their point.

This is the best one. Mancini in!
Admit we made a grave error 2 years ago and :

- Dispense with Txiki. Anyone who pays nearly 70 million for Bony and Mangala needs to be got rid of.

- Crawl on bended knee to Milan and beg Mancini to come back. Promise him full control of all footballing matters including transfers in and out.

- With bobby's approval invite offers for Hart, Kompany, Dzeko, Clichy, Fernando, Kolorov, and Jovetic.

We made a mistake. Time to admit it and pray that Mancini will come back to save us again.

Now they're not even going to get top 4...
i honestly dont believe that we will get a CL spot with this clueless c**t in charge i dont care who id be happy with Kidd but for fecks sake do something City

A few of them are even calling for Patrick Vieira to take charge. That would be interesting.
Get Vieira in, tell him who won't be here next year and only play the players who are 100% willing to fight until the end of the season. Unfortunately, that might be the kids if todays showing is anything to go by.

Great result, I think everyone in the premier league will be happy with that other than the relegation battlers. If Man City can get dragged down into the fight for fourth place that will be great for us. 2nd 3rd 4th spots are wide open now.

City will have to keep winning trophies in order to have to not worry about making FFP wont they? Isnt TV and prize revenue your best earners?

Manchester City, a team who 15 years ago were on the brink of Division 2 football are now looking to get rid of a manager who won them the title last year.

Bit ridiculous isn't it. He should be able to have another season even if they finish fourth.

That's football fans for you.

It's worth pointing out though Pellegrini has never entirely convinced a fair section of City fans, myself included, especially the ones bitter over Mancini's exit. The people calling for Pellegrini to go now, I bet a fair few of them were never singing his praises even after the title win. Personally, I'm a bit indifferent towards the situation right now. I do not think Pellegrini deserves to be sacked but at the same time I do not think he is the man to take us forward - kind of a Catch 22 situation. Would not complain whatever action the City board takes.

No chance, Im gonna stick money on Ancelotti being next manager.

Yeah, it seems likely. Real don't look like winning anything this year (imo) and neither do City, so perhaps it's the obvious move. Ancelotti is obviously used to working at clubs where he doesn't have full control either (Chelsea, Real), so might suit both parties.

TV revenue is but there is not much difference between the league places - not enough for it to make the difference between passing and failing FFP, you'd like to think. Provided we get top four each season we'll be fine.

Sounds like posts on the caf recently

Football these days, so plastic..no offense mate

How can they sack the man who brought them the title last year for most likely finishing second, that article by Jamie Carragher that stated they want to be Chelsea sounds very accurate now

(Also what kind of image are they setting out for potential managers that finishing second is a sackable offence)

True, but I do not think just because City fans remember us when we were playing shit football and happy just to see the players get stuck in means we should settle for anything that happens from here on in because it remains an improvement. If the fans are as passionate as ever they want to see their team doing as well as possible and personally I'd be more concerned if City fans never questioned the team or the manager simply because they can recall the days of Lee Bradbury or Bernardo Corradi.

It's interesting because as an outside looking in, I don't think Pellegrini is that great of a manager, you could do better. But there's something to be said for loyalty, he won you the title after all, surely you have to stick by him -- even if it's only till next Christmas.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I think few people doubt that we can spend more in the summer to fully rebuild the squad but if City get it wrong and have a few years away from major trophies or even the top 4, they won't have the same resources that we would.

Now they're not even going to get top 4...
Well, if they don't start winning they could easily drop out. If we win tomorrow we go two points behind and if Liverpool win monday they go four points behind, and their form is much much better than City's.

Not being in the CL would definitely hit them much harder than it has hit us. Smaller stadium, less fans worldwide etc. Not sure how their finances actually look, but they'd definitely have to restrict their transfer budget.

Their form is wobbly, but I still think it's extremely unlikely they'll fall out of the top 4. They are much better than we are, so if anyone is going to drop out, it'll be us. Liverpool have been great since we beat them, and Arsenal are turning it on at the right time. City are still strong, and I see them as far too strong to slip out of CL contention.

That's how it goes usually. Pellegrini will get sack (if they lose to Barcelona) in next two weeks, some temp guy will take charge of the team and all the sudden players will start performing. Blaming the system ex manager etc etc for a rubbish season. City will finish second - Pellegrini being the scapegoat for all the failures.

I can't argue with the points on the board, but we have been performing pretty awfully this season. City have been wobbly, but they have generally performed much better IMO. Their current squad is arguably coming to the end of its cycle, but I'd say it's still stronger than ours

After their first title win, I thought City made the same mistakes we did in the transfer market, but they don't have a Sir Alex to make up for it and likely never will.

They spent big money on average players and are heavily reliant on a few top players to bail them out. You can't keep making these mistakes and no matter how much better they claim to be with regards to FFP they won't be able to correct these mistakes in one window anymore.

Bony was a weird buy. Not really top class, don't understand why City bought him.

I'm not really sure if they are much better than we are. We're terrible, don't get me wrong, but City has been terrible as well for a while now. The table doesn't lie - if you take the last 6 matches (standard on the PL website) we got three more points than they did. On form they will drop out of the CL places. I don't think they will, but I don't think that it's "extremely unlikely". Liverpool and Arsenal are showing good form and if we start playing well (and beat City) it could quite easily happen.

I think it was around matchday 17-18 that I picked City to miss the Champions League spots. Big step in the right direction for them to today. Although I picked United, Arsenal and the now unlikely Southampton, I´ll gloat if it happens.:D

I'm trying to think of a side that has been so abysmal in defending their title.. Blackburn perhaps?
They need a centreback, a defensive midfielder, a goal scoring midfielder to replace Toure, a better version of Navas and a genuine partner for Aguero. That's not even going into strength in depth.
Players that they need to make some kind of impression in Europe.
They have an aging squad that can't be replaced over a few seasons like Utd are trying to do since their finances won't allow it. They'd have to spend even more than the amount that brought them UEFA sanctions.

As you say, the table doesn't lie. We're close to them, and could be even closer by tomorrow. Whilst it's not impossible, I just can't see City falling away so drastically. I'd definitely love to be wrong though!

Even when they play poorly, they still have a number of matchwinners in that squad. No doubt they'll do what we've done plenty, and win plenty of games by playing like shit.

I did forget they've still got to come to Old Trafford. Our record in the derby is garbage, but we must be a due a win against that lot!

I genuinely forgot about last season.
Don't know if that's a good or bad thing!

Tbf, we lost SAF and got Moyes. It was always going to afffect the team. City haven't been through anything close to that kind of change. Also we were never even in the title race so to say we were defending it is a stretch. It's probably more fitting to say thay we threw it away and ran like it was a bomb.

more like we lost it and have no idea where we put it down.
