He can't be instead of Pogba, because logically it wouldn't make sense due to how massively different they are as players.

Pogba could be a nonsense story. What if Mata was in Mourinho's plans, Matuidi would make sense.
It could be, but there's just a ridiculous amount of smoke, and I'm not one who believes in these smokescreen theories. We might not get Pogba, but I think its quite obvious we're interested.
Mourinho loves this kind of player, so we probably will.I really hate this kind of player. Hope we don't get him.
I cant see this as a priority signing since Jose could not know PSG were signing the Sevilla player. This is purely taking advantage of a situation imo.
Matuidi is miles better than any midfielder we have, yet some dont want him.
Assuming it would be 4-2-3-1 it's Krychowiak and Verratti in CM with probably Pastore at #10? I thought Krychowiak was his direct replacement?Matuidi isn't leaving because of Krychowiak.
I also think he would be an upgrade given the fact United has lost the battle midfield in many games.

Why not both?He is an upgrade but he isn't sexy at all, I want sexy.
Quite strange if we're going for matuidi. I really rate him but we have a slightly inferior and younger version of him in schneiderlin. Unless Mourinho too somehow seems schneiderlin's best role as that of a holding mid, it's a signing that'll put schneiderlin out of the 1st team reckoning and leave our #10 with a lot of creative burden. Given its likely to be Rooney for a good while and we don't have anyone else in the squad atm who can take up the mantle, it's not a good idea imo.
I'd much rather we get a more creative CM.
Yeah thought this too. DIifference is James for Pastore.Assuming it would be 4-2-3-1 it's Krychowiak and Verratti in CM with probably Pastore at #10? I thought Krychowiak was his direct replacement?
I think he means 4 positions not necessarily 4 players. If Matuidi is the 4th one then Schneiderlin, Matuidi, Carrick, Schweini for midfield two and Rooney/Herrera for no. 10? Mourinho talked about 4 primary targets to strengthen of which 3 are done and 4th is in progress. Other transfers which may happen later will be because of some players leaving. So if Matuidi talks are really in advanced stage, it can't be both him and Pogba.
Doubt it given the number of CMs already at the club.I think Mourinho wants both.

Yeah, could be James as well. They also have Rabiot and Motta to play in CM.Yeah thought this too. DIifference is James for Pastore.
As a PSG fan has Matuidi declined since a recent injury as some posters have said?
I was so eager for us to buy him two years ago but for some reason I'm not really excited now.
Fellaini, sure. I don't see BFS leaving though. I think it'll be BFS/Carrick + Schneiderlin/Herrera + Rooney/Herrera as the 3 CM options. With matuidi coming in, it gives us 6 players for 3 spots which is fine. 7 is overkill seeing as we'd be bringing a starter in.I could see Fellaini and Bastian leaving and being replaced by Matuidi and Pogba

Don't think so. Jose today said we're looking to get the 4th one soon not before end of August which would suggest there's still work to be done(Pogba most probably). On the other hand this one seems to gather pace pretty fast and can be wrapped up even at the beginning of next week.Seems likely that he's the 4th. Hope it's enough if so....
It's more likely that they'll play 4-3-3 with Krychowiak in behind and Matuidi and Verratti in front. Matuidi is at his best making bursting runs up the pitch to support the attack while Krychowiak is much more defensive. Their defensive midfielder last season was Thiago Motta, who must be about 400 years old at this point. I see Krychowiak as his replacement.Assuming it would be 4-2-3-1 it's Krychowiak and Verratti in CM with probably Pastore at #10? I thought Krychowiak was his direct replacement?
Probably plays a part. He's also just not as good as he used to be though.Probably because he'll seem like a poor man's Pogba now.
