Blaise Matuidi

He's an okay option for that price - Is he better or worse than Fellaini though? Fellaini has his uses in some matches, and if he's only used as a backup

Rule of thumb: 2 players pr position.

Herrera / Matuidi or Fellaini
Pogba / Perreira
Matic / Carrick

Since when has Matuidi become a bad player? I feel we need two midfielders, he would be a nice addition to a DM midfielder.

He's not a bad player, but he's not the disciplined DM people seem to think he is on here.

He is limited, he is a good in very particular role on the left of a midfield three where he can often play as a left midfielder. If that's what Mourinho wants then Matuidi is an excellent option but if Mourinho isn't interested by that then Matuidi is a very expensive squad player(12m/year salary).

But that's just poor judgement. He's never been a DM. He pretty much always been box to box.

He's be a very good stopgap. This market is crazy so if we feel we can't buy who we want for a price that isn't insane, Matuidi might make sense.

GFF always put "the situation" in their tweets. I always say it in a deep American fan fare voice. Maybe just me. Anyway, probably won't happen but wouldn't be against it.

Yeah, people suggesting him as a Herrera alternative aren't actually taking into account how we play - or misinformed about him. I think he could be a decent enough option instead of fellaini, but would be a really uninspiring signing.

I'd rather we didn't, if we do I hope Jose realizes he's awful in a 2 with Pogba and only intends to use him in a 3 or paired with Carrick/Ander.

They play in the same French team don't they?
And not particularly successfully. Both are at their best occupying the left side of midfield. Pogba did a lot better with Kante, or any other French central midfielder beside him.

Matuidi has already peaked. I prefer Idrissa Gueye… such an underrated player.

I can see Raiola licking his chops waiting to make his move in between hysterical burst of laughing thinking about how he's playing Milan with Donnarumma.

Please no. Fellaini is better than him so I'd rather stick with him.

Don't want him...we should build the team around Pogba and with players like Matuidi we can't...look the french NT...and he's 30 ( soon 31 ), technically poor, 12M/year...

You jest, right?
No, I'm being honest. I've been watching quite a bit of PSG for Pastore/Verratti these past few years and I've never been a fan of his. I'm not the biggest Fellaini fan either but I've always been of the opinion that he's better than Matuidi.

€10-15m is absurdly cheap in today's market. But in my squad he'd be sitting firmly on the bench. Similar all-action, semi-defensive role to Herrera, and he's about one tenth the player Ander is.

With our money, my attitude is always that you either shouldn't buy at all (and more often than most I like this option) or spend the money to get someone top quality. Given that we can't rely on Carrick being able to play a lot next season, this is one position we definitely need to be adding to. And really it should be a proper DM anyway, not another sort-of-DM.

Seems a pointless signing in some ways, essentially he'd just be a squad player and surely we have bigger things to worry about than adding an expensive squad player, when we should be focusing on actual starting 11 improvements.

This. Let's fill our number 7 and number 9 shirt to some worthy players first and then worry about 18 or 22 or whatever

We were linked last season as well so probably one of those yearly events.

Don't think he fits the DM role we need, he's always bombing forward with no end product. We need a disciplined DM to come in and do what role first and foremost.

Would offer more depth to CM, but feel with his age and wages wouldn't be worthwhile as he would limit Pereira's game time.

He is better than Fellaini, but for the sake as a squad player its easier to stick with Fellaini than pay big for another bench warmer. You could argue that Fellaini offers more impact off the bench by heading up top and using aerial ability.

For me, not worthwhile. For competition/rotation in CM, I'd much rather Renato Sanches
