Television Billions - new Showtime series

It was always a bit soapy with the Bobby, Maggy [I don't even get what's her stance is in all of this at the moment] and Chuck; with Bobby and his wife and all the purely ego driven actions. And while it's a good and entertaining show, it never was GOAT material and had plenty of moments where you had to suspend your disbelief.

I'm not that concerned about Spyros, not everyone can be a dominant player like Chuck and Bobby, there have to be some lesser guys and I think it's good to have someone be the buffoon, the slimy guy who leeches off of the real players.

Not sure what your problem with Taylor is the writers will either explore an inner moral conflict that arises as the character gets sucked deeper into the morast of corruption or they will have Taylor embrace the dark side and become a genuine player which will eventually lead to conflicts with Bobby.

I think the character you should be much more concerned about is Wags. He's supposed to be the company's no 2 but all we see is someone who must be doing coke 24/7 and who goes ballistic at everything and everyone without really offering much or anything in terms of genuine insights or leadership.

Want to revise any of that, considering the latest episodes... It's getting pretty silly.

Yeah. I still don't mind Spyros. But the rest of the story is just bad, starting with Axe hand delivering the poison and then leaving a petri dish with his finger prints in someone else's hand and the Asperger love story.

Spending 1.5 seasons on making a stand by making Taylor TV's first non-binary rock-star, we're then given a scenario where their first love interest is an odd-ball, geeky Billionaire. If the best they can do with the character is "This guy is an ethical Billionaire so taylor would dig that"... Ooof. The only way it makes any positive sense is if Oscar is the guy to break their heart.

Spyros wearing that fricking Porsche jacket was pathetic. He's just a less self-aware Louis Litt at this point.

Season 3 has been awful. I have faith that the writers might be able to tie a bow around it all. There's quality in there. "I hate every pore of you" is one of the funniest lines in any season. It's all gone downhill though.

Tbf, Dollar Bill wrecking Spyros’ Porsche was pretty epic.

I think the low point of the show was probably in Ep04 when Axe "baited" the charity board into investing. Really painfully moronic writing.

Binge'd (looked a bit Chandler from Friends without the apostrophe) the first 7 shows of series one yesterday.

Don't really understand where the empathy is supposed to come from. It's basically a jealous guy stuck in a low-paid boring job, going up against a hugely successful business man (read: the American dream) simply because he's hugely successful.

It's really simple – if he had any evidence of illegality he'd never let his wife work there … but he does!

And the frustrated guy is obviously willing to do anything to get that conviction – which will probably force said successful businessman to break the law staying ahead … which will lead to his downfall … which will lead to him taking his accuser down with him!

Just a stab in the dark.

Nice acting but there's no meat here. No "hidden past" no "secret" to uncover. No tension. Just the inevitable. He's simply going after a guy because the guy is more successful than he will ever be … AND because he fecking can!

I don't understand what's so scary about Axes threats. They act as if he's a mob boss when Axe tries to intimidate them.
I can't see where the threat comes from.

This series took a nose dive with both engines out . No character to root for at this point. I hope everyone gets busted and rots in prison.

EDIT:
I almost threw up and turned it off at 'That makes you so special, Dudley'. Did Donald Trump took over the writing team?

You negative bastards...

The show is still fecking great in my opinion... Loving this season so far, and it's still one of the best things on tele

This season is absolutely rubbish, cant believe how bad it. The latest episode rendered the first two seasons pretty much pointless?

The absolute insanity of Bobby shouting down a Mobbed-up Russian Oligarch... After hearing that he has dismembered people before. Sheesh.

No idea where the show goes now.

Hoping to see Bobby in concrete shoes at the bottom of the Hudson, Chuck in jail at the hands of Connerty, and Taylor making an emotional play that sees AxeCap lose half their fund in one hit, with Mafee blowing off Wendy's desperate advances as he walks out having shorted every single one of their market plays on his way out the door.

There was a time where you wondered where the show is headed (maybe an epiosode or 2) but wow the last two episodes were great. Season finale was brilliant as well. Has no one else seen it?!

I have, they really changed the dymanics of the show and got it going again.

After two and a half seasons of Chuck versus Axe, now they have different fights on their hands so the story is longer about their battle... Though I'm sure it will return eventually.

I could have seen Chuck's downfall from miles away. Was always going to happen, sort of reverse to last year's final episode

This season was looking like it had fallen apart midway through, but it recovered and set up the next season to be awesome. That final scene was great, and I was desperate for it not to end.

Nice finale. Hoping Axe and Rhoades team up next season as a single unit, which I think is very likely.

Axe helping Rhoades trace the money and Rhoades helping him by not letting Taylor's company become big

Chuck being set up was blindingly obvious but overall that was a really good finale and I like the way it's set up going into another season, a nice change of direction.

It was looking for the first half of the season like the show had lost its way but it definitely recovered.

Loved it. Wendy smiling at the table as Axe reveals his plan.......

Clancy Brown has been a great addition to the cast this season.

Did Kate realise telling Bryan would lead to him inevitably telling Jock, or are we supposed to believe she was surprised? If the latter, how did Kate get away not getting sacked along with Chuck?

Nah she probably worked it there and then so probably started leveraging as soon as she left the bar.

She's always maintained she'd look out for number one first and foremost so its not surprising.

Anyway great season and finale... That last scene was class.

MVP overall was definitely the Legend that is Ben Kim

Terrible season. Not beyond saving though. They've given themselves a solid set up for the next season.

Hopefully they'll get back on track.

They need to quit shoehorning in reality from now on. It's as if they saw how perfectly Entourage did it and just throw people in with no real need for them. I don't think there was a single worthwhile cameo.

The owner of my company wasn't a bad cameo, especially since the hotel in which the scene was shot is known for the 'power breakfast.'

I suspect all of the cameos are paid-for to increase personal brands. They've all been shite and unnecessary.

I thought the season started and ended well. Some of the middle episodes were a drag but overall I thought it was a decent season. I kind of enjoyed the celebrity cameos but everyone is different I suppose.

Loved the final scene, gave me goosebumps.

It’s a show based out of New York and New York, as an entity, plays a large character in it. The service industry cameos have mostly been spot on and relevant regardless of if they were ‘paid for.’

I understand the principle. It's just done in a very Hammy fashion.

Entourage is the high watermark of that real-world crossover. Ballers does a decent job mostly. Billions gets it wrong more than it gets it right.

Turned into a flashy fancy soap opera. I'd probably watch it, but I expected more from this show.
