Television Billions - new Showtime series

Bobby better feck Chuck in the ass for this!

This is one of the most underrated shows there is imo. It's been a brilliant season and this episode topped them all.

I did have my doubts about Rhodes knowing what he's doing when he didn't listen to Wendy warning him so the end didn't come as a total surprise.
Anyway I think Axe will find a way out of this. He'll proababy use Wendy using insider info or something as a bargaining chip against Rhodes. Can't wait!

Yup, that's what I feel too. Wendy having shorted a major chunk means if Chuck is to act against Axe, he'll definitely have to act on Wendy as well

Exactly so essentially he'll find a way to get out of this. Still can't believe Axe was careless enough to do something this stupid. Sure he was angry but he's usually far smarter than this.

That episode was amazing. The last 2 minutes I was not expecting at all.

I just kind of assumed the audience was on board with it from the previous episode. The whole way through I was like 'But wasn't he doing it just to........'

Expert episode though. Perfectly shot, acted, paced, music was spot on. Loved it.

Which episode was that from?
This show is really good and at no point it seems to go down and E11 ended with high note.

It's from E11 only when Wendy finds out at Axe Capital that they're shorting it and she warns him and he does nothing despite that.

It's pretty mad that Chuck has just deliberately cost his best mate $250million or more and seemingly erased his own trust fund rather than seeing it explode into the hundreds of millions just in order to hopefully entrap Axe.

Unless he's made a short play on the side that we're yet to be told about, but that would carry it's own legal issues.

I'd spoiler that, I think a lot of people might not have seen it.
Also, yes it seems incredible he's been willing to cost everyone and himself his entire fortune and maybe even the sort of funding required to fund his campaign just to spite Axe. That's crazy anger!

If people haven't seen the latest episode they should stay out of the thread, no need for spoiler tags for anything that has aired.

It's an insane strategy, but I half expect there will be more revealed in the next episode.

Yes
When Chuck ignored Wendy I thought it was his ego that's comes in between these two.

Nah that's when I got suspicious about it. Having an ego is one thing but a reliable source telling you you're about to lose it all and doing nothing was dodgy.

Pretty good show, although like someone said it's pretty mad and shows how far chucks grudge goes that he's willing to forego all that money to ensnare Axelrod. I was kinda suspecting they were just going to take the feud to a different platform.

Annoying that I'll have to wait another year for s3

Axe is true....but we probably shouldn't. It's Charles Rhoades Sr. that tips me right over to the other side.

I think Connerty (Chuck Rhoades right hand man) is a character you can certainly have some sympathy for.....maybe Taylor (Axe Analyst, doesn't appear till season 2). There is a dearth of likeable figures now that I think on it, but it is a very money driven show. @Pogue Mahone

Tried watching this but couldn't get past the first episode. Does it get any easier watching a show where they're all such loathsome cnuts? Who are you supposed to care about?

I felt the same, but you won't be able to stop after a couple of episodes. Do it!

Can't wait for the season finale tomorrow.

The finale was today! Can't wait for Axe's revenge

It's been renewed for second season but I just can't see how Axe vs Rhoades storyline can last another season.

I was wrong on this but can they do a third season of Axe Vs Rhoades?

The Pilot is radically different from the rest of the show. It sets the stage but they knock off a lot of sharp edges. Some loose rambles to get you interested;

* Wendy the head doctor never gives another "You've got a huge dick, go sling it" speech.

* Axe is shown to be truly damaged and broken. You find out where his motivations come from and he shows a lot of softness.

* Both male leads are tortured rivals. They want to win as much as they want to see the other lose.

* Wags grows his demonic beard and completely changes character. Pretty much remains the only braggart/alpha male message in the whole show.

* Everyone is shown to be weak at some point or another. Aside from perhaps the two female leads who are the only pair that know their true selves and rarely if ever act against their own best interests.

The second season is head and shoulders better than the first too. Stick with it and you wont be disappointed.

Yea, @Pogue Mahone you definitely need to stick with this one, it's absolutely brilliant.

Come to think of it, how the hell does this thread only have 2 pages?!

I actually found it a bit repulsive watching the first episode and switched it off. Went back to it and so glad I did because it's almost faultless.

They made masses of changes in direction after the pilot. Mainly on the Axe-Cap side. All of which were necessary. Repulsive was the perfect word. There was nothing likeable or relatable about that whole half of the show.

I only have one criticism of this show...

There aren't enough episodes.

Absolutely this! Sometimes I wish this was one of those shows with 22 episodes a season.

I've no idea how shows like TWD continue to have page after page of discussion and this have...nothing

Not as good as the penultimate episode but loved it nonetheless. That final scene between the two

That final scene between the two
The two of them facing off as the close to both seasons was fantastic.

And yes, 22 episodes per season would be awesome. What's with the top shows having so few episodes these days?

The West Wing, to use one of my favourite shows as an example, had 7 seasons of 22 episodes ffs. These days nothing seems to have more than 13.

Started watching this out of curiosity because I work with hedge funds... and while being quite OTT in general (Axe Capital is not really how a typical hedge fund operates), Axe as a character is not far off some of the hedge fund CEOs I've met.

Sad that Silicon Valley is only a 10 run (put a pin in Better Call Saul for now) – most action or political dramas seem to be longer. Peaky Blinders is the only other one that comes to mind that I'd like a longer run really.

Better usage of the budget and reduce filler craps that most shows have on TV.
