You're telling me David Silva wasn't born in Didsbury and raised in City's academy? Damn.
Again, your opinion. I think Silva is the best I've seen at that type of dribbling. I accept people may think it is a ludicrous view but it is based on what I have seen.
Have you extensively watched Iniesta over the years, and then decided that David Silva has the better control and close quarters dribbling? In fact, to resolve this question, one only has to watch a few games of each player. And hey, what a convenient coincidence! Both play for the same national team which makes it easier to compare. You might also want to consider that one is the main man and always a starter for said national side since their golden age begun, and the other has been in and out.
As I've mentioned, I have watched more of Silva than Iniesta. Mentioning Iniesta's involvement in the national team is pretty irrelevant, I'm not arguing Silva is the better player. A manager doesn't pick his players based solely on close control dribbling. I have my opinion, you have yours. Neither can categorically be right or wrong.

Messi all day long in any context except this weird spring thing you've made up where I'd go for Bale or Lucas Moura.
Iniesta's main asset is his close control dribbling, it is what makes him world class. In fact in all other departments, you would be justified in arguing that Silva has the upper hand, shooting, finishing, final ball, maybe even playmaking (debatable) but in terms of close control no one comes close to Iniesta. Trust me dude, i have been watching the current generation of Spaniards since their very early days, matchday in and matchday out, plus all the Spain national team games. I have been watching as much PL as I do LL, why would I lie to you?
No, I think it's justified, this whole sprint thing I mean. Messi, as mega as he is, cannot burn defenders for raw pace like Ronaldo, Bale or Robben. Granted, Messi's overall dribbling ability pisses all over everyone else, but in terms of skinning defenders in open space (something Barcelona never-ever enjoy in any case) players like Bale, Ronaldo and Robben will just eat you alive. Messi cannot come close to that kind of speed.
Iniesta is quite clearly much better at dribbling than Silva. How on earth can you like football and not have seen loads of Iniesta?

That's not really dribbling, it's just being really fast.
Give Usain Bolt the touch of lets say Clint Hill and he'd destroy Bale, Ronaldo, Lucas or Robben at this spring dribbling thing because really it's just about speed.

I've only seen him in the odd Barcelona domestic game, El Classicos, Champions League knockout games, Euro + World Cup matches. I've seen Silva in every single game he has played for City since he signed. I have simply seen more of Silva and I just think his dribbling is incredible and the best I've seen.
To be fair that last part simply isn't true. Bale, Robben, Ronaldo etc. all have explosive pace in short bursts which for one, Bolt doesn't have, and two, their is a reason they are among football's best. It isn't an aimless kick and run approach, it requires a football brain that not many other players possess.
This is an incredibly dumb argument. Is he also better than ronaldinho because you've seen less of him?
Nope. It is one aspect of Silva's and Iniesta's game and whenever I have seen them I have felt Silva's is better. I'm not saying categorically Silva is better in my view because I have seen more of him and I would need to watch Iniesta every week to give a fair view. It is not a case of 'I have seen more of him therefore he is better' it is a case of when I have seen them I haven't felt Iniesta to be any better than Silva at it, but concede I would need to watch Iniesta every matchday as well to give a completely balanced view.
Lionel Graham Messi. Is this really a question?
Perhaps bolt doesn't have the best acceleration on the 100m finals circuit but he would decimate any professional footballers.
Would you say its a coincidence that the only two people who don't find that laughable are City fans?
In a 100m race he would. But how far does a player have to run to beat a man in football? About 10 metres? Bale and Ronaldo's explosive pace with the ball at their feet is probably better than what Bolt could offer.
Sorry OP but to rate dribblers in terms of category and have Hazard and Luka effing Modric top them and no Messi is just blasphemous. He and Iniesta are the best dribblers in the world and it's not close. Guys like Ronaldo and Bale for example are rated highly for their dribbling but they're just pace merchants. Knock it past the opponent and use your pace to beat him to it.
Prosecution rests!
so after all that thought, the answer still wasn't messi? So I was having a discussion with some friends in the last week about the different types of dribbling and the best in each category.
Obviously there's some dispute on the separate sections but heres how I split them.
Close Quarter Possession (Xavi, Iniesta, Modric, Lahm etc)
Close Quarter Explosive (Messi, Hazard, Neymar, Aguero etc)
Sprinters (Ronaldo, Bale, Miralles, Lavezzi etc)
So a little discussion and game away from the Moyes stuff.
Remember this is from what you have seen this season 13/14
Mine would go
Close Quarter Possession: Modric
Close Quarter Explosive: Hazard
Sprinters: Bale
Overall best dribbler: Hazard
What do you guys think?
You're being ridiculous here. Bolt's first 60m in the 100m he did in 2009 is the fastest anyone has ever run 60m. His first 50m in Beijing were 5.65 seconds, 0.09 seconds behind the world record even in a 50m race. He would absolutely rinse any football player extremely easily over any distance
No I'm not at all. Over 10m or so the difference between Bolt, Bale and Ronaldo bursting pace a defender will be so minimal it would be pointless to compare.
