Best 10 players in the world atm?

What, no di Maria?

@Di Maria's angel hasn't posted yet.

How the hell is Neymar getting so many mentions?

One good season in La Liga is good enough to put you in the world's top 10...really?

He was the joint top scorer in the Champions League and scored 3 goals vs. PSG in the quarter final, 3 goals vs. Bayern in semi final and a goal in the final vs. Juventus so it's not as if you can say he racked up goals vs. the poor teams. In La Liga he also scored against the big teams like Real, Atletico and Sevilla. For the national team he already has 46 goals at 23 and helped carry his team to the semi finals in the World Cup in his own country.

What else can you really judge him on? He's only had two seasons at Barca and before that he was rattling in goals for Santos in a league that's not as good as the best in Europe.

I might be a bit biased, but Marcelo has to be on there surely? He's been fantastic for a few years now.

Marcelo's a fantastic full-back but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who'd put him down as one of the top 10 players in the world, unless you meant to post in the top defenders thread, in which case you have a valid point.

Neymar has been absolutely fantastic for club and country, top 3 player in the world. Surprised anyone would dispute him in a top 10.

you seriously think De Gea is better than Neuer? De gea is probably the 2nd best in the world - but Neuer is better right now.
He really isn't, ask Scotland.

Nah, not only in the defender top 10. Marcelo's a great all round footballer and probably one of the most technical gifted players in our team along with Ronaldo and Isco. He is very underrated.

Marcelo is very good but in the end he's a defender who isn't very good at defending. Not top 10 for me. Neymar, yeah comfortably.

He's great but there's too many footballers who are clearly ahead of him to consider him a genuine top ten player. You only have to look at some of the players not included in some people's lists to realise that.

I think Suarez has been better.

Was disappointed when he stupidly got banned from Copa America. He had a brilliant first season with Barcelona but I don't think that is enough to make him top 3. You're saying that apart from the 2 freaks, he is the best player in the world. Somehow that doesn't sound right.

1. Messi

2. Ronaldo

3. Suarez
4. Aguero
5. D Silva
6. Muller
7. Neymar
8. Modric
9. Robben
10. Muller

Which 2nd Müller? It can't be the one from Hamburg, can it? :D

  1. Messi
  2. Ronaldo
  3. Suarez
  4. Neymar
  5. Aguero
  6. Muller
  7. Hazard
  8. Robben
  9. Sanchez
  10. Ibrahimovic
Not including goalkeepers. Not sure on the order from 5-10, but the first 4 walk in and are a level above the rest IMO.

Since when is Neymar a level above the likes of Robben? ImO he is still behind Robben when fit.

Yeah it's personal opinion, I think he's an incredible player (and it hurts me to say it given how sure I was he'd fail when he signed for Barça), but I can understand that people wouldn't rank him in top 3. But top 10, surely you wouldn't dispute that?

I wouldn't dispute him being in the top 10. And it also pains me to say he is good, I thought he would be a massive flop.

Messi Ronaldo Suarez Aguero Mueller Silva Neymar Robben Thiago Silva Neuer

I'd have Suarez and Neymar as 3 and 4, not sure which way round. Suarez started slowly but was unbelievable in the last part of the season and I don't think those first few months playing in a new team after a lengthy ban should take too much away from his ranking because before that he was the best player in the Premier League as hard as that is to admit (fortunately Slippy G happened to save us from Liverpool winning the league :)). The Man City Champions League away game (on February 24th) where he scored twice in the first half was the turning point in his season as including that match up to the end of the season he scored 18 goals and assisted 8 times in 21 games. That's a fairer reflection of where his true level is.

The bizarre Caf hard-on for Aguero persists in spite of him (again) failing to truly shine and elevate his game at the very top over the course of a full season. I digress.

Messi
Ronaldo
Suarez
Neymar
Muller
Bale
Lewandowski
Robben
Benzema
Silva

Neuer and De Gea would be in there if I was going to include goalkeepers, but I'm not.

Muller has to be in there somewhere. I'd put him in the top five to be honest.

Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Neymar, Muller.

I completely forgot about Muller. I'd have him in over Thiago Silva then. I wouldn't have him in my top 5, but he'd make my top 10 easily. Can't believe I forgot him.

Are we talking just about attacking players? Most of the players being named seem to be.

I don't think any defender stands out to be one of the 10 best in the world, but it's all subjective.

It's really hard to place defenders in lists like these, so they usually get ignored.

Messi
Ronaldo
Suarez
Neymar
Robben

David Silva
Aguero

Benzema

No place for Modric? Best central midfielder in the world for me.

Messi Ronaldo Robben Suarez Neymar Muller Lewandowski Aguero Silva Bale

Barcelona have 3 of the 4 best players in the world, Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez and Neymar (in that order). Unfair :(

And Iniesta and Busquets, both of whom could very easily be in the top 10-15.

Ronaldo, Messi
Suarez, Neymar, Iniesta
Robben, Muller, Bale, James, Neuer

No really outstanding player in the PL. Hazard, Silva, Aguero, Schweinsteiger, De Gea, Courtois not too far off though.

How does Bale heavily feature over this while James doesn't? So after the season Bale just had, where James was arguably one of Madrid's top 3 players, he's top 10 material again?

How odd.

Silva's been the best player in the league so far this season I think.

Very biased toward attackers, but that's the life.

I swear to God that Caf doesn't even watch Madrid. It is completely unexplainable how Bale gets so many nominations despite doing feck all for a long time.

Very dissapointed in @Invictus.

The thread says best players at the momment. James had a better last season but Bale was still very good imo. Bale has started this season brilliantly though and James has only started 1 game.

Vato watches a lot of Madrid... and thinks that Marcelo could be considered one of the top ten footballers in the world.

So, we can rule out just watching more of a team as meaning someone's opinion is more valid than another's.

So a couple of good domestic and International games this season and he's suddenly top 10 again? In that case then Mahrez should be scraping top 5 at this rate.

Mahrez was no where near the top 10 last season, Bale was.
