Wasn't much impressed by Berbs, at first.

But his preference for United despite a bigger packet from City, endears him to me.

Love the bloke.:)

is there a press conference today or any times soon? Or any video footage of him signing or talking about it?

I have always rated Berbatov so I am delighted with the signing. Pity about all the crap surrounding it though. Still he signed despite Citys offer for him so Kudos to him for that.

I can't wait to see him play for us , he is a special player from the same mould as God.

Absolutely delighted we've finally got our man. I honestly think he can make a high difference to us this year and only aids us in our quest to win trophies.

Can't bloody wait to see him in a red shirt on the pitch!

30.75m. For a player who will turn 28 in a few months that's excellent business for Spurs: 20m more than we paid for him just 2 years ago.

As I predicted eons ago in this thread, all those posters previously talking about 20-25m were well shy of the mark. I said the fee would be 'well north of 25m' and that proved correct. Levy held out for what he wanted and got it.

You've acquired a brilliant forward, but Spurs are rid of a player who didn't want to play for us (and was proving disruptive) and have acquired a huge boost to our transfer kitty for January and beyond.

I'm happy enough with the overall outcome this window. We've sold Robinson, Chimbonda, Malbranque, Tainio, Lee, Kaboul, Gardner, Keane and Berbatov, but acquired Gomes, Corluka, Bentley, Modric, Dos Santos, Bostock, Pavyluchenko and Campbell (loan).

This leaves us probably weaker in the striker department, but with a much strengthened midfield and an improved back 5. Overall I think our squad is now stronger than it was last season.

"Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me," he said.

"I look forward to playing my part in helping this club win more honours in the years to come."

christ im hard again

Feeders club.....:D

Yep, we get any player we want and we'll loan out our reserves to spurs. Feeder Club:lol:

Why you sign for Spurs

a) they are a friendly club situated in London.
b) We are the unnoffical Manchester United's academy. If you do well you end up signing with them.

:D

If anyone has footage of Fergie whisking Berba away in his car that would complete the surrealness of the signing

No thanks.

Half of his goals have come against the worst defences in the League and teams that shouldn't even be in the PL.

For what it's worth (no direct quotes):

"Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is confident Dimitar Berbatov will sign a new contract after holding talks with the striker.

Ramos ... for next season ... wants to build his team around the Bulgarian international.

Good, the sooner he signs that contract, the better.

We need a young, pacy striker, that can get in behind the defence.

We need pace.

Berbatov is NOT what we need, for a variety of reasons

He doesn't 'fit the bill'.

And for £25 million, there are better options. Plus he's 27, by the time the season starts, nearer 28.

Not as good as many think... just not what we need.

Contrast to,

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Get the feck in!!!!

Thank feck.

I'm sooooooooooooooooo happy.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

YES YES YES YES I'M SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY.

It's just orgasmic.

It just goes to show how fickle some football fans are.

Indeed

Was waiting on something like this from you, very predictable. Business isn't important here, excellent or not. Making the team better is all that matters, thats the 'business' I'm interested in seeing Manchester do, and yes it's EXCELLENT football buisness for us.

As I predicted eons ago in this thread, all those posters previously talking about 20-25m were well shy of the mark. I said the fee would be 'well north of 25m' and that proved correct. Levy held out for what he wanted and got it.

Levy wanted much more that what he got. He did very well to get what he did though, I'll grant you that, and no doubt the unexpected arrival of City/Madrid on the scene forced us up a bit. However, the fact that City bid £34/35M shows clearly that he's lost out on £4M, that won't go down well with his money minded way of thinking.

You've acquired a brilliant forward, but Spurs are rid of a player who didn't want to play for us (and was proving disruptive) and have acquired a huge boost to our transfer kitty for January and beyond.

What's the point in having a huge transfer kitty if you can't sign world class players? You couldn't manage to sign a single decent forward, besides the unproven at top level Pavyluchenko. Much better having the players and not the cash, (same as better having the points not the games in hand) if you have the money and you see a player that will significantly improve the team, spend it, we just did that.

Inproved in quality, but have a lighter squad. Several of those players are going to take a season or so to bed down, and Bostock isn't going to figure for you as a genuine first team player this year. Also claims that you are a United feeder club as bullshit, but it does seem funny that you'll be helping with the progress of one of our younger players, Fraizer Campbell. Hopefully he'll come back to us stronger and wiser, then we can get more out of him next year football wise, or 'business' wise if we decide to sell him then ;)

This leaves us probably weaker in the striker department, but with a much strengthened midfield and an improved back 5. Overall I think our squad is now stronger than it was last season.

I know ours certainly is, thanks to Spurs for that. A great bit of business indeed. Thanks for all the help. ;)

I've got to say I'd be disappointed with those acquisitions if I was a Spurs fan - you've bought a lot of very lightweight midfielders, and I also have to say I think I've seen stronger Spurs squads in recent seasons to what you have now.

I'd also be very disappointed with Pavlyuchenko as the only replacement for the departed Keane and Berbatov. I'd say, again, that he's also too lightweight for this league, and not an adequate replacement for two proven Premiership strikers who together formed probably the best strike force in the league.

With recent developments, it seems that Spurs are further away than ever from breaking into the top four - City certainly look light years ahead at the moment.
