Was just talking to a source of mine at The Sun and they know feck all about what is happening. Usually they hear some rumours and they are stunned with it all....

That ties in with this, but he's running late:smirk::
1413: My mum works as a receptionist at the chauffer company used by Man Utd and she has just had to book a car to pick up a Mr Benzema from Manchester Airport at 3pm to go to Old Trafford.

1526: WINN3RS on 606 reports that Karim Benzema has been spotted boarding an easyjet plane at Lyon airport heading for Manchester. Any obvious flaws with this story?

I wouldn't mind Benzema at the moment!

But it must be bullshit

This is my view on things, no ITK business.

We have a deal with Spurs for him, but City have also had one accepted. Similar to the whole ramsey business. We have learned our lesson and are not going to tell everybody that we have agreed a fee.

Spurs will gain a lot more if he goes to City, but can do nothing if he decides to join us.

The only thing is IF the deal had already been agreed between Utd and Spurs. Notice neither team has mentioned anything, only City have stated that a bid has been accepted. For all we know, our deal is already in place, and Spurs cannot go back on it, but can sure accept other offers.

Now, it all boils down to the persuasive powers of Hughes because I am sure his heart is set on Utd. Ofcourse, this could all be a moot point if we have not yet agreed a fee with Spurs, as no way they will accept less than what City are offering now.

The deadline-day race for Spurs' wantaway striker Simitar Berbatov is really hotting up as Manchester United have made Tottenham an improved offer.

Sportsmails online understands that boss Mark Hughes will meet with the Bulgaria centre forward after Tottenham accepted Manchester City's £34million bid.

Berba does not HAVE to sign a contract with Citeh, he can say NO. That is the power he has.

Levy, as everyone says at glory glory likes to balance the books and virtually everyone of their old boys has been telling him to sell him for the last week.

So Berba can reject citeh and see if levy has any pressure to sell, plus erba can continue to unsettle spurs and hopefully get them relegated.

No he doesn't want to go to city. Which makes City's offer a nonentity really. It doesn't matter whether City offer 28 or 34 the player won't go there. he'll stay at spurs. This isn't really about money. Spurs want the player to leave but not to United. They would sell him to Barcelona for 25!

But Berbatov travelled to City anyway, presumably on the advice of his agent so that at least he is in Manchester when we finally get this deal wrapped up. I reckon Hughes doing us a favour. Get Hughes in Manchester - get the deal wrapped up and then Campbell can go to City on Loan as thanks.

Any obvious flaws?

Saha on his way out, Campbells loyal (rightfully) in question after hints from the front office that they might offload him to Hull, Donk gone....

I wouldn't want to be in Fergie's path.

Why hasn't anyone posted the 'panic stick-figures'?

great business by spurs here...

since united do not meet their asking price, why not accept united's biggest local rival and see how united will panic and increase their bid.

20m + campbell, sound a good deal for us, hard to see spurs accept that though. :(

As a point of policy, I don't think United will ever put themselves in a situation of hostage to a bidding war. We might improved the existing offer to a certain point past what we feel is fair but not much, IMO. It's just good business sense, that sometimes you bite the bullet and take the long view. It's a powerful statement that we send out for the future that we are prepared to pay fair value and also a certain premium but will not however allow ourselves to be hostage to another's unrealistic demands.

if we had agreed a deal then we wouldve signed berbatov .. he wouldnt take over a day to discuss personal terms if he wants out so desperately

i think we were delaying it to be in a better negotiating position and citeh coming in has screwed that

Berba does not HAVE to sign a contract with Citeh, he can say NO. That is the power he has.

And with no other offers accepted he then most likely ends up back with Spurs. At the end of the day a British transfer record and 100-120k a week will massage his ego, and its a much better option than staying at Spurs right now.

If we were a few days off the deadline he could call their bluff and refuse to sign but with no other offers accepted he is up against the wall.

How about £150,000 a week and the promise of building a mega-team around him...

I'm shitting myself to be honest.. If this goes through i don't think i can handle it..

If he joins City, then I'll just laugh.

So Berbatov held out all that time do move to.....Manchester City.

It just doesn't make sense, from anyones viewpoint. Not from Spurs, not from Berbs, not from us to let it happen.

I'm confident we will have someone by the deadline.

This is far less than the supposed 34M£ offered by City.

Only he hasn't gone anywhere.

All that's happened is that City have made a bid, which has been accepted by Spurs. Sparky is "planning" on meeting him but we've no idea whether or not Berbatov has any intention of even listening to their offer. I mean, why would he?

This is no different to Cardiff City accepting our bid for Ramsey, before he went to Arsenal.

I think you usually post a lot of sense but I think you may look a bit stupid come this evening.

Relax everybody..

"However, the move for Berbatov is unlikely to result in anything other than complicating United's summer-long pursuit of the player, particularly after United today completed the sale of Louis Saha to Everton.

Berbatov, who is believed to be en route to Manchester, has already made it clear he has set his heart on moving to Old Trafford and the chances of him changing his mind to join City are believed to be minimal, if not non-existent - even if there might be more money available to him at Eastlands."

Two things

1. If he does sign for City (which remains a very big "if") this whole Arab takeover business will have been a massive curve-ball. Completely impossible to predict and shouldn't have meant that we were any more willing to pay over the odds before now. We've had Levy and co over a barrel, right up until all this Arab cash entered the equation. Which makes all the whining about United fecking this deal up kind of silly.

2. If you're the Norwegian fan-club bloke - who broke the story that first soured relations between United and Spurs - how scared would you be about meeting Fergie, if this all goes tits up? On a scale of 1 to 10?
