I know there's feck all happening - and this thread is almost entirely random speculation anyway - but is there any chance we could keep a lid on all the spam?

Bahama Red will be up soon and we'll have to wade through pages of shite to actually read anything interesting but, until then, how's about at least trying to keep this thread limited to update on - or discussion about - the transfer of Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United?

Just a thought, like. I hear Chat Gen is where it's at for talking random bollox.

I would love it if true. But it's bollocks and he'll probably sign for us later to day

You mean...no muppetry?

I know money talks, but lets just hope Berba has some ambition. At his age, it's imperative he looks to play for a big club.

For feck sake. If City have bid in excess of £30 million that means Spurs won't sell to us for less than that.

Why the feck didn't we just pay the £28 million. Why be so fecking tight over £3 fecking million.

Pull your finger out of your arse Gill.

:D

he wanted to leave spurs to play in the champions league etc. If he had no ambition he'd remain at spurs

13.25 Sky sources have been informed that Manchester City have tabled a bid reported to be in excess of £30million for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov, who has been a long-term transfer target of Manchester United.

I sure hope so mate. Absolutely gutted if we miss out on him, to City of all clubs.

Those Dubai owners certainly don't mess about.

Just a thought.

As for this City nonsense, quite apart from the fact Berbatov wants CL football, I can't believe that anyone seriously believes that Spurs would deliberately block his move to United, in order to sell him to a club that is a genuine rival of theirs for 4th-8th position, even if they do make a few extra million quid on the deal.

Not a hope in hell of him ending up in Manchester unless he is playing for MUFC. That rumour is just ludicrous.

That's put Spurs in a win-win position i.e. either he stays or else he moves for more than 30m

Yeah but if berba doesnt fancy going to city, and he surely wouldnt. the deal will be a non starter - yes?!

this thread will provide hours of entertainment for the next little while.

Tomorrows headlines:

BULGARIAN ACE BERBA COMMITS SUICIDE AFTER LEARNING IT WAS CITY, NOT UNITED, THAT MADE HE HAS TRANSFERRED TO

(and lets face it, he wasnt the first one to think he was signing for us when he wasn't - MASCHERANO)

IN AN UNRELATED TWIST BRITISH POLICE TODAY LAUNCHED A STING AGAINST ALLEGED UNITED FAN SITE REDCAFE, WITH CONCLUSIVE PROOF IT IS ACTUALLY A SUICIDE PACT SITE, AS 3918 MEMBER SIMULTANEOUSLY COMMIT SUICIDE AT MIDNIGHT, SEPTEMBER 2.

We are now going to have to pay £10 million more than our valuation of the player. But we could have wrapped the fecking deal up if we'd paid just £3 million more.

City seem confident they might get him, they are offloading Benjani and Caceido now.

This is just a way of getting us to pay what they want for him.Won't go to City it's a bluff.

Say if city bid for him and spurs accept it and are willing to sell him, BUT Berba is only willing to join us and has no interst in joining them, does he have the right to say no?

it's a non starter. you'd think they'd have a bit more common sense and go for players they actually have a chance of getting rather then wasting their own time trying to get one up on us.

Yes, he can just reject their contract offer.

Why?

City could bid 50 million. That doesn't change anything.

If Berbatov doesn't want to sign for City (and he doesn't, he has already said he wants CL football) Spurs still only have one viable offer on the table. And that's our offer.
