Berbatov

I guess Tottenham wants both Pavlyuchenko and Arshavin for the Berbatov money.

Would cost them around £30 million surely for both, so would make you wonder how much we are willing to pay.

So is Pavlyuchenko actually signing for Spurs or is it merely Hearsay?

Pavlyuchenko story is now on Setanta

Roman Pavlyuchenko has pulled out of Spartak Moscow's Champions League qualifier with Dynamo Kiev and indicated he is likely to join Tottenham.

Sources in Russia claim a deal can be done before the end of the week as the striker, a major success at Euro 2008, has revealed that the move is at an advanced stage.

Spartak are 4-1 down from the first leg and set to go out of the competition in Ukraine, barring any miracles.

"I shall be granted a visa now and, as soon as it is ready, I'll go to England for the signing of the contract," he told uefa.com.

"I have already returned to Moscow. So I will not play in Kiev. I can confirm I'm going to Tottenham.

"Everything happened very quickly. I did not even have time to say goodbye to my Spartak team-mates."

Pavlyuchenko emerged as Spurs' leading target when a protracted move for Andrei Arshavin stalled, although that transfer could yet be resurrected.

Initial indications from the centre forward were that he would reject the chance to move to White Hart Lane but it appears as though he has been convinced to sign with his club admitting a verbal agreement has been reached with the North Londoners.

Spartak's general director Valery Karpin had said: "We were obliged to tell the player about interest from a leading English side. An offer like that might come along once or twice in a lifetime."

Spurs are looking for a striker to enable Dimitar Berbatov to leave the club with Manchester United still favourites to snap up the disenchanted Bulgarian.

he he he. I've made him famous.

Is he usually ITK? :nervous:

He's usually on KEY 103 in the mornings with Chelsea Norris and Chuck Ferris.

According to the incompetent swedish commentator at C+ all that money was spent on Bentley.

Well they should have around £5 million left. And they will get £28-£30 million from United. That should be enough to buy the Russians.

On sky now about Pav

Roman Pavlyuchenko has claimed that he is set to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26-year-old Russia international striker has been linked with a move to Spurs all summer.

Now it appears that the North London outfit have sealed a deal with his club Spartak Moscow.

Speaking to Uefa's Russian website, Pavlyuchenko confirmed he had not travelled with the rest of the Spartak squad for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kiev as he was finalising the details of his move to Spurs.

"I am back in Moscow and I will not play in Kiev, and I can confirm I am going to Tottenham," he told uefa.ru.

"I am waiting for a Visa and as soon as it is granted, I am ready to go to England and sign."

Pavlyuchenko revealed he was yet to discuss the move with Spurs boss Juande Ramos.

"Juande Ramos, I have not yet met, it seems like he will call me - but I know for sure he is very interested in my services," he continued.
No done deal

Spartak spokesman Eduard Nisenboim has told the Russia media that the deal is not yet signed.

"I would prefer it if the deal was described as very close," said Nisenboim.

"At the moment the papers have not yet been signed - we have only reached a verbal agreement with the England club."

News of Tottenham's move for Pavlyuchenko will cast further doubt over Dimitar Berbatov's future at the club.

Manchester United are desperately trying to prise the Bulgarian away from Tottenham - but as yet have been unable to strike a deal.

Surely that raises the odds of us getting him? Just a matter of days now.

I don't know, Spoony can be difficult to understand sometimes. I guess it means that he won't join United.

Nonsense. Spoony is as clear as mud. Examination of the correct entrails is all that is required. His every meaning can be divined at the merest glance at his gnomic utterances. All is clear. All is simple. All is forthcoming. The sum of his all is the truth behind the hidden meaning, When the sun sets in the saucer of milk, Spooney's cat will sing to the cuckoo clock...

I think the signing of Pav will be enough to let Berbatov go.

They'd then have Bent and Pav as out and out strikers, with Dos Santos as a support striker.

I suppose they could do with another support striker to balance things up with regards cover and rotation, but the main thing here is getting a like for like replacement in for Berbatov, which it seems they are going to do.

I just don't want to see Madrid coming in offering Saviola and cash, as we'd end up with serious egg on our faces if it all backfired on us now.

There would be mass suicide across the red world

Berba-on then?

I used to love this:
