Are you optimistic?
Always optimistic as far as Fergie concerned. He's saying the right things right now about not being optimistic which makes me optimistic cause its the right thing to say.
Spurs do not want a sulky berb playing for them next year. As we would not have wanted a sulky Ronaldo who had asked for a transfer.
United are acting disinterested at this point in order to force Spurs hand. I'm confident we'll get him.

Not so happy about the Manucho "news".....looking more and more untrue by the minute.

More importantly Bahama Red is fast closing in on Pogue Mahone with the highest number of posts in this thread. Just 80 or so behind now.

BR, the world wants to know whether or not you will stay long enough to finish the job? Stay or go?
I trained for months in the Ronaldo thread for this epic battle. I knew it would eventually come about.
Needless to say I have a good supply of Ramliberbers and a case of beerb so, bar some catastrophe (like the berb signing tomorrow), I should be in good shape for the run in.

Well said, I agree

So that's an ''I stay'' until I piss off next summer when someone offers me more money?

COCKS BACK OUT!!!

From soccernet.com... just a couple minutes ago,

Ramos set to hold talks with wantaway Berbatov

Wantaway Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov is set for showdown talk with manager Juande Ramos on Friday ahead of the club's first home game of the season against Sunderland.

T

With Russian strike duo Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavlyuchenko now seemingly out of the picture, the north London outfit are now being linked with La Liga stars Diego Forlan and Luis Fabiano.

'We've got a list of targets that we are working very hard on,' Ramos continued. 'Negotiations are tough and sometimes they are even tougher than usual. We know what we are working towards and we know what our objectives are.

Agree. Take nothing at face value.

I saw the full Press Conference with Ferguson today, and I urge everyone not to take the "less optimistic" quotes flying about as if nothing is going to happen.

The Journalist asked Ferguson..."A couple of weeks ago you said you were optimistic about adding one or two players to the squad. Do you still maintain that optimism ?"

He smiled and replied..."I'm less optimistic. How many days have we left, 11?....*Smiles* and says.."Under Pressure" *In a real Scottish accent* lol.

"We're working at something...listen, you never know in football, we may get him, we may not. If we don't we'll carry on with what we've got".

He said he was less optimistic in a lightly humoured response to the way he was asked the question, and ofcourse refering to the amount of time left in the window.

He looked confident enough to me when saying what he did.

It was like last week when he spoke of the 'surprise', you'd have to have seen the interview to understand the way he actually meant it. Don't take the quotes floating about at face value.

Just to confirm aswell, he said in the conference that Manucho had got the work permit, but he is still recovering from the metatarsal injury. He has done bits of training and been quite promising, in terms of recovery from the injury, but he is still well short of playing a competitive match.

If we see Spurs bringing in a player or two next week in the forward department, then we can start becoming 'very optimisitic' ;)

I see the Daily Mail are quoting Ferguson saying .."I'm less optimisitic about signing Berbatov".

He never mentioned his name, but they love to stir things don't they.

More so then now?

I've had my cock ready since the first time he's "arrived for a medical"

The sticking point is Spurs finding a replacement, because they don't want to be left with Darren Bent as their only centre forward.

Did you see and hear that yourself? There seems to be no other confirmation in the world other than you who knows about this. Sure he didn't say "working on the work permit"?

Well, it seems that Arshavin will be off to Spurs by this friday coming at the latest, assuming the Advocaat quotes were accurate, and all they need is one more striker (and a proper Carrick replacement, but that might be for the next transfer window)...

He's seen Fergie say it with his own eyes, what more do you want? (outside of youtube?)...

That's what I asked him. Did he see and hear it himself? Your answer doesn't help. If that helps.

Yes, I saw and heard it for myself.

He was asked about the work permit for Manucho in his Press Conference. He turned and asked his personal assistant..."We've got that haven't we?"....Then he said..."Ya, we've got the permit".

Then later on in the Conference he was asked would he be in contention for the game against Portsmouth, and replied with what I said regarding his recovery.

Praise the lord, that's all I wanted to hear. Thanks.
(However, I'm still not 100% on this. Why did he have to ask his personal assistant? Surely Fergie would have been the first to know that the work permit had come thro and how come its not been reported by ANYONE except for that brief spot on Sky?)

Back to Berbanews:

Anyone think he'll be involved in anyway tomorrow after their disappointing performance against Middlesbrough?

Ramos was to meet with the berb today/tonight
I'll be glued to the tv tomorrow morning.
Would be excellent if the Spurs fans were to give him a hard time tomorrow.

He was 100% clear on it. He's got the work permit.

He may have only got it today like, so just wanted to confirm it with his PA.

My gut feeling is I think he'll start, but at the same time Ramos may want to justify the team he put out last week, so maybe start with them again.

I'd love it if Sunderland turned them over, but I think they'll get a hammering.
