Barca could enter Berbatov equation

Dimitar Berbatov's proposed move from Tottenham to Manchester United could be in doubt, with rumours that Barcelona are keen on the striker.

Even if Barca does come in, they won't bid anything near to 20mil for him. In any case, they've decided to keep Eto'o and Henry, there's no reason for them to throw big money for another striker.

If anything, it's just another attempt to jack up the price. And possibly Spurs are looking to drag this just that wee bit longer so that we won't go into our first 2 matches as ready as we'd like to be.

You have to laugh. They could've easily have written 'Dimitar Berbatov's proposed move from Tottenham to Manchester United could be in doubt, with rumours that Inter are keen on the striker'.

Nothing in the article suggests a Barca link.

Complete nothing article. The only mention of Barca is as some sort of evidence that this might speed things up. The rest is just re-hashed bollox.

Even the Barca link is old news and - now that they've publically stated they're holding onto Eto'o - completely irrelevent anyway.

exactly , but so is every article linking him to us in the past week..
nothing from the player , nothing from us , nothing from any agents ..
he has been playing for tottenham , he has been training with them ..

it all started when fergie said we were looking to sign someone in a few days .. and that was also the time we made a bid silva

i want berbatov to come to united (or any decent striker) , but the media reports (in the past few days) arent exactly reliable

If they do that then I'd love to see them handle his sulking for a year, and I'd love to see how little they got for him next year if they try and sell him then.

But it'd be Uniteds fault for not lining up an alternative. Putting all their hopes for a new striker on signing Berbatov is a big mistake.

Jol's comments (That the only problem with Berbatov is he had his heart set on United) suggest that he was 'sulking' last year. I dont think any Spurs fan will tell you they were dissappointed in what he did for them though. And most who arent transfer muppets would likely be very happy with him staying.

Whether he stays, goes, comes or leaves he'll score some goals and set up plenty more.

Jol admitted Berbatov's heart was set on United.

What about the tapping up story?

Are you seriously suggesting there has been no interest from United?

I was actually thinking the same thing.

Very Drifter like.

Tell me, that you didn't promote him, Sults.

Not guilty. Before my time Spoons.

Admittedly, I must have also let in some spazzers in my time mind.

Obviously Ramos has to come out and say what he's said today but does anyone else think that the past 48 hours might well of been nothing more than media bullshit and that nothing has actually happened since Fergie's last comments? :(

Anyone else feel a bit uncomfortable when they read comments like this?

I'd be surprised if United have not made another bid this week. But it may well be that Spurs have not even started any negotiations.

probably spurs have rejected our 2nd bid and we cannot find an agreement at the moment. :(

No, I feel there definitely has been some action on United's part these past few days.

You're a confused soul

You've been very anti Berbatov all summer, even upto this morning.

What's changed your mind?
i want a striker , i didnt think berbatov would come after levy accused us of trying to tap him up
we most probably made a bid for him too which was turned down .
the interest is obvious , but the stories suggesting the move is imminent and almost a done deal that have been in the papers in the last few days might not necessarily be true (i dont think they are) as there is no basis to it other than our interest which has been obvious for over a year

and i have never been against the transfer , but ive been pessemistic about it since they rejected our offer (20+m most likely) and levy reported us

fergie then, a few days later, gave an interview where he hinted that we might not sign anyone followed by another one recently suggesting we are looking to sign someone within a week (during which time we also made a decent bid for silva)

we might sign berbatov tonight , i dont know , but there hasnt been anything to suggest that the deal is anywhere close to being complete other than some typical tabloid bs

tottenham have sold keane , even if they sign arshavin , there is no reason why they cant keep berbatov and offload lennon or some extra man in midfield
they dont have to sell berbatov

fergie looks like a turtle in the berbameter.

Still stuck

:lol::lol:

This feels like the Carrick saga 2 years ago. That being said I don't think the deal with go through. I can't believe Campbell is going to have to do what Saha is suppose to do. That's tremendous pressure on someone of his age and current ability.

You contradict yourself in most posts.

You'd look seriously foolish if I copied your posts from this thread.

In future we should just get it all done the first week of the window and be done with ti after that*

*i realise this may not ever be possible

I'm sure I have seen pictures of Maurice Watkins, and I've definitely met Sultan - the two are not that similar in appearance.
