Benzema or Kane? Genuine question.

Which striker would you prefer at United?

Benzema

Advantages- Proven world class, played at the highest level, strong, powerful, in his peak

Disadvantage - latter years of his career, hunger?, no Premiership experience, goal scoring not 'that' high in number.

Kane

Advantages - English, young, strong, clinical, hungry, Premiership proven

Disadvantages - one season wonder?, Daniel Levy, not that good?, not proven on the world stage

Poll would be nice. For me, if they were both available for £30m-£40m I'd go with Kane. Don't know why but there's just something about him that makes me want him at United. Perhaps I can see him becoming a legend for us whereas Benzema may do great but wouldn't do it for that long and wouldn't perhaps be remembered that well in say 15 years time.

Benzema is better at everything (including goalscoring), I don't see how this is even a question.

Despite the apparent interest from us since his Lyon days, the rumors are that he's never wanted to join us, so it's a moot point anyway.

If they were both the same age I'd obviously pick Benzema. As it is, I'd take a gamble on youth and go for Big Daddy Kane

Is this a real question? Benzema of course! Also later years? He is only 27

I would wait one year but even now I would risk and rather take Harry Kane, he's humble young guy who work so hard that he will undoubtedly reach his high potential if things go well, he's 150% team player with fantastic work ethic, combinng twith the ability, long time we had such striker..

Benzema latter years of his career? He's coming into his prime.

As mentioned the fact Benzema seemingly doesn't want to play for us puts me right off, no doubt he's the better player though.

if they were free, I would choose Kane but since they aren't, Benzema.

Out of curiosity, as a Real Madrid player, why would Benzema come out and say he wants to come here?
Kane btw has also said he wants to stay at Spurs.

I love the excitement of a new, young attacking player, so Kane. Pretty much just for that reason.

Benzema by a mile. Imagine what he could do in England where the focus of attack would be on him? At Madrid all focus at all times in on Cristiano and you might be in trouble if you don't pass to him

Benzema has turned his nose up at united loads of times, quality striker, arrogant twat. Harry Kane please.

Benzema... Though if Kane replicated this season next year as well it would be a much tougher choice next summer

Agree with this. Would be a different prospect if Kane did it again next season.

It's a very well balanced dilemma. It's easy to say it's clearly Benzema, but there are a lot of less tangible factors that make it pretty close.

Put it this way: If one of them had set their heart on joining United and was making a massive effort to get here, that would tip the balance in their favour for me.

If Kane did this, it would mean that the hunger / desire / "right type of player argument" referenced in the OP wins out over the uninterested mercenary etc and so on.
However, if it was Benzema who was doing so, it would negate that argument, and so I'd happily taken the vastly more proven option.

I'm a huge fan of Benzema and he is a proven world-class player with pedigree at the highest level.

Kane has had just as good a season as Benzema, but it's just one season he's performed to such a high level. Far too big a risk to take a punt on a player who may well be a one season wonder - if unlikely.

How do all these people know Benzema doesn't want to play for us?

Benzema.

Kane is a bigger risk, unlikely to move just yet and can always be pursued later if he proves to be all that. Maybe when Rooney is closer to retirement.

Neither. Rooney needs a role up front up next season. We need to get a young pacey striker who can play out wide in a front three or cover for Rooney if he is out injured. If Rooney shows he is not up to the task any more next season, then we can think about replacing him. I just don't want Rooney being moved around the pitch anymore, kills any kind of rhythm the team has.

If we absolutely had to buy one of them this summer, then Benzema. Really need Kane to prove that the season just gone was not a flash in the pan. He is going to cost c.£50m now or next season anyway.

Kane for me.

If only that he's younger and I don't really feel that Benzema wants to play for us anyway. Didn't he reject us for Madrid in the first place? I don't want their cast-offs. Kane is at least proven in this league and has 10 years at the top ahead of him. Benzema right now is better, but of course he is because he's been playing at Madrid for years and he's seen it and done it. He'd view us as a retirement home whereas Kane would fight to the death to make his name.

On balance I'll say Kane. I just can't get that excited about Benzema (burnt by Falcao maybe?).

Whereas Kane has the possibility of becoming a legend.

We'll get neither, especially not Kane!

What a thread

Yeah, the responses have made it even more bizarre. Referring to benzema as some 33yr old on the verge of retirement, him not wanting to come here being used used as a reason as if kane has been lining up outside OT and finally the famous "PL proven" argument. Hurry Kane. Over Karim Benzema

Benzema.

Costs less, better player.

I strongly doubt that Spurs would swap Kane for Benzema if offered the choice. The former is odds-on to become an absolute super-star in my biased opinion.

....except for last season....Kane's first season in the first team....
No. There is a difference between goalscoring ability and the number of goals scored. Kane averages almost twice more shots - because he isn't playing in the same team with Ronaldo.
