Ben Arfa to Newcastle

Classy goal, really good bit of football from Ben Arfa.

It's taken him a while but he's really hit it off there now. That injury held him back for a while and then he was in and out of the team, but he's benefited from a run of games.

It was him, on Alonso

I still can't believe this one!

Scored the 2 best goals I've ever seen live this season.

I'm not having the poor defending lark. The first turn is magic, then the burst away from Davies and just as the CB is deciding what to do he's flicked it up past him FIFA style and slotted it away. Delicious.

Cmon, Crouch's was a lucky volley, this was proper skill.

 yes because Peter bloody Crouch does things like that on a regular basis. It was a cracking goal of course but one he would never be able to replicate

The goal of the season will be picked on its merits. You can't say just because it's Peter Crouch we have to assume it was lucky.

Goal at 15 seconds. I think that is a better goal but both are great. Really is becoming a very important player for them. Never understood why it has taken Pardew so long to give him a consistent run of games.

Is anyone sniffing around Ben Arfa this summer, or will they be?

I've wanted him here since his Lyon days, though he did go off the boil a bit one point. Watching his performances towards the end of the season and, in particularly, for France against Norway, I think he's really pulled his game together and is not far off being one of the best wingers around.

As always, I'd love him here, though I do think there'll be other big teams in for him. He'd be a massive signing for someone like Liverpool or Arsenal.

Good player - but trouble. I reckon he'll be itching for a move before long if he can take last seasons form into next.

an excellent dribbler of the ball and always good to watch.

with the likes of nani, young, valencia and now kagawa we don't actually need a player like ben arfa as the priority now should be a proper CM. but to have a player who is so comfortable on the ball is always a bonus. city got the likes of silva, nasri, aguero who are all so good at keeping the ball as well as running with it. to have more players capable of doing that is a good thing.

the next priority signing have to be a cental midfielder though.

Not sure why he has got the tag of being a nutter, he seems quite settled and calm in Newcastle now, seems to have stopped believing his own hype and nailed down doing the hard work.

Could turn back to the primadonna he was though i guess.

It's plainly obvious we are never gonna buy a Central midfielder so how about another winger?

Ryan Giggs can't go on forever and Young is well Young and Nani's imminent departure, by my estimation we could do with sonmeone like him.

Would be my choice for replacement if at all Nani goes(let's hope he doesn't).

Newcastle's season will mainly depend on him

If he stays fit and keeps producing the sort of performances like he did against Spurs on the opening day Newcastle can expect to have another successful season.

I see him as a great striker of the ball, and someone who has a fine level of talent. That said, for him to go up to the next level, you're looking for him to be a threat throughout the whole game whoever he plays against. He does have a tendency to be completely anonymous in certain matches.

On his right foot as well eh. Reminds me a bit of Adriano for Barcelona against Valencia yesterday.

That will always happen playing for Newcastle. For him to be that good he'd have play for one of the top clubs. I really hope Liverpool don't get him.

At the moment that is a downgrade

He is playing with better players at Newcastle with the likes of Cabaye & Tiote.

If Nani was to go I think this guy would be a great replacement, he can play both sides, he can dribble, has a decent shot, and can pick a pass and is proven in the premiership. He seems to have had attitude problems in the past but maybe now has matured.

Newcastle would probably make us pay a hefty price. Anyone know what his contract situation is?

Ain't got a clue, but he's certainly one of the most watchable players in the prem. He's so talented and unplayable at his best.. but he could be hit and miss.

Seems to be settled for the first time and I dont think its any surprise that its at a club where he can be the star of the team. On his day a brilliant player

Virtually the same age and a million miles away in terms of productivity, effectiveness and reliability, might as well sell Cleverley and buy Joe Allen.

Players like Ben Arfa look great when they're the key man in a decent team, he's not good enough to be the key man here and he's not mentally strong enough to be part of a great team.

Nani is a proven top class player. Ben Arfa is one who looks to be heading there possibly. If we have to lose Nani, then I'd prefer us to splash the big bucks on someone already top of their game to replace him. It's a sign of how good Nani is that I can't think of many who would be available.

Bloody hell! Just sign him back up.

I am not sure he is seen as the star of the team. Ba, Cisse, Cabaye, to a lesser extent Tiote and Colocinni have been mainstays of this Newcastle side. Ben Arfa had to work very hard to even become a starter. He did that without complaint. just kept his head down and got on with the job. I think he might be ready to step up to a league challenging side.
