Ben Arfa to Newcastle

Aye, heard it's supposed to be a corker.

The talent was always there with Ben Arfa, it was just about getting it out of him. Credit to Pardew for that.

Come on Laurent Blanc, don't be your usual bitch and call him up for the Euros. No one in France is as technically gifted as him, not even Benzema

Not happy with Blanc? I thought he was doing well?

A few months after being nominated as the national team coach, Blanc was involved in discussions with the FFF regarding the facts that there were too many blacks (therefore physical players) playing for France. That and the fact that he comes across as a moaning cnut, he's done well as a coach but I don't like him as a person

Unbelievable goal. If Crouch hadnt goal of the season wrapped up this one would win it. A run from inside his own half that Messi would be proud of

Cmon, Crouch's was a lucky volley, this was proper skill.

That's easily the best goal this season. Unbelievable. Jaw dropping stuff. Wow.

So Zidane's volley in the CL final was lucky too? As was Rooney against Newcastle?

 yes because Peter bloody Crouch does things like that on a regular basis. It was a cracking goal of course but one he would never be able to replicate

It's all down to personal preference of course but I think a solo goal like Ben Arfa's is always going to be better than a speculative volley.

Very nice goal but his goal in the FA Cup was notably better, for me.

Apart from the turn, all he did was run straight towards goal and the defenders moved out of the way for him.

His goal against blackburn was better.

I thought these discussions were doctored tapes that made him sound like he saying things he didn't actually say.

At least that's what Phillipe Auclair said on the Football Weekly podcast a few months back.

That deft flick at the end seems inconsequential first time round but I do think it takes him past that last defender so he deserves a bit of credit there, but yeah the Blackburn goal involved a lot more close control and sharp changes of direction and the emphatic finish really tops it off nicely.

It's his main line of defending but he's shocked many people (not only him is at fault but the entire FFF).He's a world cup winner and a great media client, they'll always defend him

I distinctly remember the time when you pissed on me for saying Ben Arfa, despite his worse attitude, may be a better bet than Obertan in the PL.

The most important thing in this goal isn't the Cruyff turn at the start but the way he shrugs off the second player running at him. That player goes for a tackle and completely misses Ben Arfa, who gave him the impression he was close enough to catch the ball with a tackle but failed miserably. This is 50% of the goal, something Zidane often did to his opponents (notably in a France-Scotland game a few years back). When you manage to make your opponent think he can get the ball with a tackle but he effectively ends up missing you altogether, that's a sign you have immense technique

The Obertan tangent might've been an argument you had with someone else because that part of it doesn't really ring a bell with me but yeah I was and still am against the idea of signing him until he's proven he's not going to be more trouble than he's worth and he's still got a long way to go to prove that at Newcastle, IMO. You'd have to be blind not to see his talent though.

Didn't think the goal was all that, the first touch was superb but apart from that he just kept on running straight and the defenders stood off him. He has scored better goals than that!

Also I wonder if Newcastle would sell him, considering how wanted and got for Carroll god knows what they will get for him!

They will. As soon as Suarez leaves Liverpool for 40m and they buy him(Arfa) for 38m and then bloat on all the live long day about how the combined geniuses at the club have a net spend of -2m.

To be fair they'd have to be something just shy of genuises to trick someone into spending £40 million on Suarez.

He can fetch upwards of 20m easily, all you need is a good run of games from him and money rich idiots a la City, PSG and voila!
Vast difference between 20 and 40 though. I don't see anyone paying more than 30m for Suarez and that too only by likes of PSG, City.

Difference between 20 and upwards of 20 too. Liverpool themselves paid 23-24m iirc. So its unlikely they'll sell him for the same or a tiny profit anyway. Besides, you're letting the twat in him cloud his abilities, he's a good player. No world beater, but someone who playing with a good bunch can be quite effective.

Watch it again. He did 4 things really well. First one was turning the defender. Then holding off the challenge of the defender chasing him. And probably most importantly, after that there's a sudden change of pace again to take him between the two last defenders and through on goal. The timing of that made going past them look so easy.

Remember when forum was having a ******** over benzema and mentioned then that this boy was worth a punt, yes benz scored a good goal against us though this boy glided accoss the park. shame

Watch his goal against Blackburn, now that was sensational. I've seen the goal a few times but he literally runs in a straight line after he is past the defender and the Bolton players just keep backing off him.

This one ain't half bad either!

Great run, but there have been much better goals this season. Average Messi goal.

These types of goals are hard to replicate for anyone - that's why you don't seem them very often. That's why Zidane hasn't scored too many volleys like that. That's why Rooney hasn't scored many volleys like THAT one against Newcastle either.
