Bebe

Why would Evra be playing at right back?

I took the artistic license to assume that at the point the fictional hero Bebe is talking to him at the point he is stood or playing in front of Evra due to the probably injury crisis that has lead to his inclusion in the first place. That and his name sounds a bit like Ever.

Lyrics man?

Would you pass
If I asked you to pass?
Would you run
And try to track back?
Would you try
If you saw me trying?
And would you score one goal, tonight?

Would you tackle
If I gave you some tips?
Would you laugh?
When you probably miss.
In A league cup tie
You can be involved
A cross is in the stands, up high

I can be your hero, Bebe.
I can talk you through the game.
That guy behind you is Evra.
You just gave the ball away.

Would you swear
That you'll cross down the line?
Or would you lie?
and then cut back inside?
Would you play too deep?
To get in the side?
I don't care...
You're sub tonight.

I can be your hero, Bebe.
I can talk you through the game.
That guy behind you is Evra.
You just gave the ball away.

Oh, I just want to loan you.
I just want to Loan you, oh, yeah.
was the price too steep?
Did youtube lie?
Well, I don't care...
Valencia's outwide.

I can be your hero, Bebe.
I can talk you through the game.
That guy behind you is Evra.
You just gave the ball away.

Too bad he didn't score, but that run was very good.

His ball control has dramatically improved. There was a time where it looked like he'd lose control of the ball at any given moment. Was like he was running with a time-bomb at times.

I say give him a chance next season! He has the talent, it was the confidence that let him down.

We need more Bebelievers, next year will be the year of the Bebe.

I haven't seen much football lately, the loss against Malaga and loosing ground to Benfica really tuned me off a bit.

But judging from what I read in the forums quite a few Benfica and Porto fans wouldn't mind seeing him playing for our teams, so he must be doing very well.

Yeah, that was actually really good. I was expecting a simple burst of pace past somebody, which was there, but the way he took it past the second defender was great.

Looks like this loan is working out really well for him. Good to see.

I hope he gets a second chance here some day. Great story - well done to him for working instead of sitting on his pay.

great pace for a start. we have been a bit slow on the counters for quite some time now. someone quick and direct like bebe could actually help that a bit. not that i think he is ready to play regularly for us, but by the look of it it seems that he has improves and benefits from this loan deal. so would not mind if the gaffer give bebe a chance to prove himself next season. and given valencia's form at the moment, bebe would probably would not be a downgrade at all to have in the squad.

However well he's improved, let's be realistic here. While he might be given 1 or 2 chances here and there, he'll never even be a even squad player here considering he has to compete against Young, Nani, Valencia, Zaha on the wings and against RVP, Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck up front. We're well stocked in those departments and I can't see him even cementing a bench position.

Let's get real - we don't know what Fergie's thinking is on Bebe. A few more highlights like this and we may well see him on the bench next year. He was never going to be an overnight sensation - more like a 2-3 year project to develop his natural abilities to where he can gradually get incorporated into our system.

Pace and movement are oddly reminiscent....

I think as well, we don't know what Fergie's thinking is on any of our wingers. Obviously he wants Nani to stay, but will he? Has Young made the impact Fergie expected? Can Valencia return to previous form? is Zaha going out on loan or will he be in contention for starts? Alot of possibilities there.

I have a feeling one of our 3 current wingers will be off in the Summer, and I do fear it is our most talented one, Nani. If we do lose a winger, then Bebe may well get some time on the bench and even on the pitch.

Trying to figure out Fergie is a game with only one winner, Fergie; but in recent times, players who go out on loan abroad (to non affiliated clubs) tend to not come back, so there's a question mark over whether we'll even see Bebe again.

Just spoiling the party here, but from what i've read in recent weeks his form has dropped and his team is dropping down the table as well. He's gotten substituted early 2 times in 3 game or something and is doing averagely right now.

He had a buyout clause in his previous loan to Turkey, so i am assuming SAF knew about that and didn't mind him being off. Has he done enough to change that opinion now, dunno let's see.

It might be better for him to play regularly vis a vis just be a backup too.

Form is going to dip and spike and may have a lot to do with how he's being utilized by his loan club. I think what will be of interest to Fergie and staff is how his development as a footballer is coming along relative to where he was when we bought him, also relative to him coming off a massive injury and whether the rate of his development can be parlayed into a return to OT, a spot on the next summer tour, and a proper chance at competing for a squad position. With Nani potentially off this summer and Young and Valencia not exactly lighting the world ablaze this year, I could easily see Fergie giving Bebe a full chance this summer (even with Zaha in the mix).

I'm glad that he's been doing well on loan at Rio Ave because there's something likable about this lad and his story, and at one point it like he would not only struggle to make it at United but also at a professional level anywhere. He's improved and looks nailed on to be a pro footballer somewhere - I still don't expect it to be United but if he could be a regular in Portuguese top division or even in a stronger league it would be spectacular for him.

As much as i would like him to make it at United, i don't see how it will work tbh. Even If Nani leaves we will still have the numbers, but will be lacking in real quality on the wings especially if Valencia doesn't go back to his best. 8 players in 4 positions is sufficient if you consider Kagawa and Welbeck have played on the left quite a bit this season. And even if there is more time to be given to someone as backup i'd rather it be Januzaj than Bebe tbh.

Similar to his stay in the U21's he will gain little from being backup here and just playing the odd game at that age. Needs to be playing regularly as he is behind his development curve as it is.

Edit - There is also some possibility that We might also go and buy a top percentile prospect like Rodriguez, Isco, Gotze, Lamela etc.. if Nani leaves after missing out on Hazard/Lucas last summer.

Hope he goes out on loan again next season. Wigan if they stay up would be great...

Doubt we are loaning anyone to Wigan too soon after he Henriquez loan. They don't play with wingers anyway.

I think we'll move him on next year. I doubt any of PL teams would actually give him time so it'd be pretty much pointless. He doesn't have a PL experience that would help promoted teams and the ones that will stay in the league will probably have better forwards at the minute. He could find a club in Portugal, France or maybe even Spain that'd play him week in week out.

They do play wingers.. They have beausejour and that Arsenal kid has been injured all season.

Henriquez was never going to get games at Wigan. He's a kid and they have Kone who is doing alright. That never made sense.

If Bebe can perform against decent sides in the Portuguese league, I'd imagine he could get games at a lower premier league side.... and after another pre season with us, he'd probably improve further before next season starts.

I genuinely think he could be good enough to be a squad player in 18 months time.. Whether we keep him or get someone else in who is similar in ability is another matter.

HAs anyone seen the apparent quotes from him about Fergie that have appeared on twitter via some Portugese website?

I've no idea if they're legitimate (I suspect not) but if they are they're absolutely fecking hilarious.

Absolute class.

@joao_ruela: Bebé in an interview in Portugal:"I never took Manchester United seriously and never understood a word about what Alex Ferguson was saying."

@joao_ruela: Bebé: "Alex Ferguson asked me to cut my hair. I did it, but in the next day i've passed around him many times and he didn't recognize me."

@joao_ruela: Bebé: "Alex Ferguson is always complaining with Nani. Maybe because he always expected him to be the new Cristiano Ronaldo."

@joao_ruela: Bebé: "One day I've passed the ball through Ryan Giggs' legs. And he told me: 'Go on, go tell your mother you did this to Ryan Giggs'."

Supposedly his words have been twisted and he was laughing and joking.
