It's Sun click bait, but hell, I quite like the idea of José, Louis and Fergie sitting in an office with a good bottle of wine at Old Trafford discussing how they're going to 'knock Barcelona off their bloody perch'.

Agreed! If areas of responsibly can be strictly adhered to, it would make for an amazing think tank.

 I know confidentiality is well and good. But bloody hell this is insane. The conspiracy and speculation over this puts the JFK killing and alien sightings to shame.

Wouldn't go that far, nobody has looking for codes and shapes which represent Mourinho, yet...

So LVG will go upstairs to do what exactly. Work as DOF? No thank you. Move along LVG, you're finished here.

Why do I have this feeling Fellaini will thrive under Mourinho and become a starting 11 player.

Mourinho to make Felli his Matic.

Let's wait and see.

Everyone was convinced Fellaini wouldn't last long under Van Gaal. Yet his the first name on the teamsheet.

I'm not old enough to remember that, but surley it was a disaster.

It was, it was basically just a way to get around the boot room tradition Liverpool had since the days of Shankly. Where every manager had to come from within the club or in the case of Souness be an ex player.

They hired Houllier probably knowing full well they would sack Evans a few months later.

Nah I would assume that would be Schneiderlin.
It will be 1 or the other I think unless he goes for a 433 In which would sound absolutely crazy on paper... But here me out.

Martial - Ibra - Mahrez
Rooney - Schneiderlin
Fellaini
Shaw - Mustafi - Mike - Valencia
David
But that is a very strong and powerful Midfield 3. Won't be the most technical or ball playing midfield ever but one of the most physicalist. In all honesty that front 3 if we sign Ibra and Mahrez wouldn't really need a ball playing or technical midfield. Martial & Mahrez are arguably the most creative and productive wingers in the league and Ibra is one of the worlds best finishers.

Schneiderlin in his Southampton days played as the box to box which is where all the interest from all the top teams came from, he is limited as a holding Mid and doesn't allow him to show his true colours.

I'd be happy for Rooney to spray that diagnol ball to Mahrez and watch him make fun of defenders. Rooney will probably grow into this midfield role and bag 10 goals and 10 assists in all competitions next season.

Fellaini who is probably the most hated player in this current United squad can do what he does best (not elbowing people) Chesting the ball down and playing it. Just let him sit in the CDM role and chest it down or try to head it, Tbf he actually isn't as bad on the ball as some make out. He has actually been pretty solid this season bar 1 or 2 performances.

I can see every physical player thriving under Mourinho. We would actually be an intimidating team again; Ibra, Rooney, Felli, Smalling, Schneiderlin, Valencia are all big strong lads. Then you have the wide areas as a huge threat with Martial and Mahrez doing there thing and King Dave in goal stopping everything.

If you took the time to read, what are your thoughts on a Physical United side under Mourinho?

I don't have an insight of who would thrive who would not. Just saying Fellaini is not suited for midfield/ deep role that takes huge responsibility. Same with Rooney. Being physical/ work rate/ has a good Hollywood pass doesn't equate to being good midfielders.

We don't know Mourinho plan for Fellaini or Rooney, but one thing for sure Mourinho;s man management is good. H has good eye for impact players. Fellaini can be an impact player if being used correctly at the correct time.

Valencia is not, never has been and never will be the class of right back needed by any team with aspirations to be the best. He's probably the best available to us right now, but that's a completely different story. Would he even be in the picture at Barcelona, RM or Bayern? That's the standard we must aim for.

Fellaini simply isn't mobile enough to play the holding role. That player needs to be able to be able to get from A to B quickly in the case of fast breaks, Fellaini is just too lumbering. The game could very easily pass him by.

And what about the younger players like Rashford and TFM? Presumably they'd get thrown the crumbs of a few minutes late on now and again. We'd very soon lose them and other promising youngsters. I really don't see the point of signing an aged Ibrahimovic just so he can block Rashford's progress.

We should stop accomodating all this wannabes

If you're not contributing and not needed, you're out.

I've had enough of this "he can play here, let's try him there", "Fellaini can play (whatever position he never plays before)", "Lingard can cover the whole front 3", they don't. You can put Pete john and harry anywhere on the pitch, but do they really justify being played there?

I can understand accommodating a very special player in a new position (Fabregas, Martial on the left, Giggs in CM) but that's very special case, there's no point trying to accommodate players who aren't very good in one position just for the sake of it.

Well done, you've managed to put Fellaini in his absolute worst position. He cannot play as a holding midfielder, he can't track runners, he's not disciplined enough to hold his position, foul bonanza, basically it's a shambles. His passing and ball control is decent enough, I'll give you that. And that attack looks just .

The "play anywhere" players should be squad members at best. There to fill in when injuries dictate. In the first eleven you should have specialists in every position, not people shoehorned in just to see if that position suits them better because you drastically overpaid for them.

This thread will be an all-time Caf Classic if Mourinho doesn't come.

It'll be a memorial for some posters.

It was just a suggestion that my brain came apon at 2:00am.
Reading your replies, it didn't go down too well.

@Floyd & @Sky1981

I saw someone else's post saying on the lines of 'Mourinho would make the best use of what we have got'.

I don't have an insight of who would thrive who would not. Just saying Fellaini is not suited for midfield/ deep role that takes huge responsibility. Same with Rooney. Being physical/ work rate/ has a good Hollywood pass doesn't equate to being good midfielders.

I assume Rooney is staying and that he will play no matter what and more than likely in Midfield hence why he is in there otherwise he wouldn't be. I think both will stay and get game time, I guess we have to wait to find out how both are used.

Valencia is not, never has been and never will be the class of right back needed by any team with aspirations to be the best. He's probably the best available to us right now, but that's a completely different story. Would he even be in the picture at Barcelona, RM or Bayern? That's the standard we must aim for.

Regarding Valencia, there is a major lack a good RBs and at this current time between him and Darmian, Valencia is putting out better performances. Only RB currently out there who looks a potential world class RB is Mario Gaspar from Villarreal. Who'd be a step up on both Darmian and Valencia.

You mention the CDM has to be quick in case of fast breaks? Carrick isn't quick, Schweinsteiger isnt quick, I dont see how that is a factor in being able to play a position or not. Not many CDMs are actually that quick.

Rashford and TFM will get game time and you know it. You said it yourself about Valencia 'would he play at Bayern or Barcelona' no he wouldn't. Not saying that Rashford is bad, he's not. He is a potential top top striker in the making but he isn't that now. He's is good but Ibra is better. Rashford would be burnt out playing what 40/50 games next season. You need to rotate him. Ibra & Rashford will share the Minutes like 60/40 I reckon. That's still alot of games and you have forgotten the fact everyone gets injured at our club hence why Rashford even exists. Both will get minutes. TFM will be deployed in multiple positions to find out where he is best.

Switch Fellaini and Schneiderlin and I'd take that for next season. That's ONLY 3 signings.

Martial - Ibra - Mahrez
Rooney - Schneiderlin
Fellaini
Shaw - Mustafi - Mike - Valencia

That midfield could see me quit football.

Fellaini is judged as shit useless this year.

All of a sudden in the same position he'll become super fellaini next year while playing in the midfield of schneiderlin and rooney?
That trio would seriously be the midfield from hell:lol: We're well fecked if those three were to lineup for us in midfield next season

Meltdowns, bannings and e-suicides galore

I'm going to go full Stan on Ed "The Real Shady" Woodward.

"See Ed; [*screaming*] Shut up bitch! I'm trying to talk!
Hey Woody, that's my girlfriend screaming in the trunk,
But I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you
'Cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die, too
Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now
Oh shit, I forgot, how'm I supposed to send this shit out?"

A Mourinho midfield is a guarntee success and world class claibure. He's always built the team around the midfield. From Makelele-Lampard to Motta-Cambiasso to Modric-Xabi to Matic-Fabregas.

No way he builds his team around Mr. Elbows.

How many premier league players would get into those teams?

If we are being honest, from United, only DDG would be a starter with Martial maybe on the bench.

Valencia is good enough for what we require now. If we are applying that criteria to him, might as well apply it to all our players.

He would. Real Madrid have Carvajal who is better I'll give you that. Barca have Dani Alves who hasn't had the best season and is on way to declining. They have Sergi Roberto who can fill in but he is more of a midfielder. Also the way Barca play, with the 3 up top who like to be scoring goals and coming inside, will leave a lot of space for Valencia. Bayern have Costa and Coman who I think would work brilliantly with Valencia. Bayern have Rafhina who has been used a lot as a right back over the Pep seasons when Lahm plays in midfield, and I think Valencia is better than him. If he was there, he would defiantly be in with a shout. Also his link up play is defiantly one of the best we have and would suit the style of Barca/Bayern.
