Some of you lot compared Fergie to the devil ffs :D That's as bad as it gets

I bet if you took a poll of Liverpool fans and asked them to compare Fergie to Mourinho, Fergie would be overwhelming preferred. Do the same with every club in England and it's the same result.

Fergie was hated by Liverpool fans, but Mourinho is a whole new level. He's poison to football.

Or out of sight out of mind!! Who is going to remember Fergie hatred 4 years later.. I forgot all about Steven Gerrard and he left only a season ago.

Do the same before Fergie retired and it's the same.

Cover your ears and close your eyes if you want but the truth is Fergie was more respected and less hated by rival fans than Mourinho.

Fergie was hated for entirely different reasons than Mourinho by rival fans, and respected a lot more. Mourinho is a disgrace of a man, who doesn't even have quality football to excuse it.

Spoken with no hint of an agenda - I am sure you were fulsome in your praise of Ferguson when he as in charge :smirk:

What? I never said I liked Fergie, but I respected his achievements. Mourinho doesn't have my respect, the sooner he fecks off from football the better.

Sure thing pal, I'm sure that when Ferguson was piling on title after title for United you could barely suppress the desire to tell everyone how much you respected the man. And the strength of ypur hatred for Mourinho is in no way influenced by the fact that he's fairly likely to be our next manager.

That and the fact Mourinho absolutely hates Liverpool with a seething passion

No one takes Liverpool fans views seriously here though.

Especially on considering who to make our manager.

Of course Liverpool fans hate for Jose has nothing to do with that fateful day in 2014.

That and also because Bob supports Barcelona

Liverpool fans have hated Mourinho since long before 2014.

There's no talking to these people.

I don't really care if they aren't bothered by what rival fans think - when Liverpool sign a player/hire a manager, the opinion of a rival fan isn't my concern, but the denial here is weird. Like people can't accept that Mourinho is hated more than Fergie was.

Does it matter though? I'm looking forward to having a manager who is hated again.

It doesn't matter. Which is why all of you getting in a pissy fit over me saying what the rival fans opinion is is odd.

It's quite clear there are a lot of fans here trying to pretend they want Mourinho rather than want Anyone-but-LVG

Is that something that you want or something that you accept?

Because I don't really understand the first option, I don't see the appeal.

This. Who gives a shit about which one is more hated?

Bob supports both Liverpool and Barcelona...which makes it natural for him to hate Mourinho so much as both those clubs have had the biggest run ins with him (2014 title ruin, Inter knocking Barca out of the CL in 2010, the shhh in the league cup final, eye poke, being manager for the only time Madrid finished above Barca in the past 8 years etc.)

Exactly this, it was nice to know everyone feared your manager, for the last 3 seasons, our manager have been the butt of most football related jokes around the country.

This. Who gives a shit about which one is more hated?

Nope, just Liverpool. He's been hated by Liverpool fans since 2004 for what it's worth.

Comparing Mourinho to Fergie is a travesty.

Fergie was hated for entirely different reasons than Mourinho by rival fans, and respected a lot more. Mourinho is a disgrace of a man, who doesn't even have quality football to excuse it.

Travesty, get a grip. I pointed out all things opposing fans mentioned with regards to my teams former great manager.

Mourinho only being second or third in most fans wishing list doesn't make him unwanted and it doesn't mean that people want Anyone-but-LVG.

BS tbh, many wanted him in 2013. Personally hes not my first choice, would have preferred Pep or Poch, but I wouldnt say no to Mourinho, who would.

What happened in 2004?

He joined Chelsea. There was a lot of fall outs and angst between him and Liverpool fans since then - back when we seemed to play Chelsea every week .

I know it stems from the Rafa vs Mourinho days. The Garcia ghost goal and Mourinho's comments stoking the fire.

But the 2014 moment added to it. And gloriously so too.

I genuinely don't think it added to it. That day was a crushing moment to all Liverpool fans but it would have been regardless of the team we played.

No it's not. Many newspapers work by plucking a story from their arsehole and printing it.
I was responding to a post that suggested it was probably true but Castles was on a wind up by reporting it, since there's no chance he'll join Everton..

If you want to claim it's fabricated then fair enough, I guess someone on the Caf would know better than the Sunday Times.

I really don't get some of this. We're in serious danger of sinking into mid table mediocrity, whilst one of the most successful managers is available and apparently wants to manage us. The days of being able to pick and choose are over guys - get it wrong this time and we're screwed - well and truly. We might not like it, but let's try to live in the real world. People say Mourinho's options are limited - in reality ours are even more.

If we get this wrong we are the new AC Milan.

There are a few choice members on here who would argue that you're in the wrong.
