Why are some people so against Mourinho?

I know the season he had with Chelsea. He was definitely at fault, but it's possible there's issues behind the scenes we don't know of.

He guarantees trophies. He's won at every single club he's managed. We haven't won a trophy since SAF retired(discounting the community shield).

It's odd the stick he gets on here. Someone above said it though - a manager you hate when he's managing the opposition but you might not mind managing your club - like Fergie to be fair, who was a complicated character whose methods worked.

He's one of the most successful managers around and has the personality to take on what is a massive job.

His record speaks for itself. A good move by the club.

I understand that it was driven by the Pep situation, but it's rather frustrating that after doing nothing for months while we were abysmal, the club wait for the first time we string a couple of decent performances together in a row to begin discussions with a new coach.

I hope this distraction doesn't take from the little bit of attacking momentum we have started to see.

Cantona attacked a racist who had just racially abused him. That is completely different than gouging the eye of an opposing teams coach.
All you drama queens about how he 'doesn't have the Man United dignified personality' etc, pls see exhibit A (from previous post in other thread):

 One of our best players! Who hates an absolute cnut! What a pisser.

You must read posts where real united fans criticise this decision and cringe. When you've put half the time or money into United as I have I will accept your criticism.
You're not even a t0p red, man. You're a caricature of that epitome.

Good news for everyone with the exception of Juan :(

Although he'd probably be second to Fellaini on my departure list after his performances on the whole this season.

If we're in talks, then I very much doubt it was only spurred on by the Guardiola situation. We've probably been planning/thinking about this since Mourinho left Chelsea.

I wouldn't be surprised if we've been trying to get Guardiola.

What changes do we expect Mourinho will make in terms of personnel? What kind of changes did he make at Inter and Madrid when he joined them?
Mata is the obvious one, though he might not be sold right away because a general lack of quality and depth in the attack. Lingard probably won't play much either but he's pretty average anyways so no big deal there. Think he'd go for a center back and quality in attack mainly, possibly a midfielder as well. Lineup wise it'll probably be kind of similar to what Van Gaal picks, just with Blind rotating with Shaw at left back and an actual center back next to Smalling. Schneiderlin/Schweinsteiger/Herrera all seem exactly like the type he would like, and he's always liked Rooney and was interested in Martial last summer so those 2 will probably still have important roles. Not sure what he'd do with Memphis. Possibly keep him as a squad option and give him a chance, as he can be a very effective player like Mou likes, but then again, he could just send him out on loan or something. Januzaj needs to show he has it in him to be a top talent again, otherwise I fear for his future regardless of who is in charge. Pereira seems like an Oscar type player, and Mourinho loved Oscar. Darmian and Shaw are already basically Mourinho type right backs, being very defensively solid.

In terms of incomings, he was interested in Griezmann and Stones for Chelsea for a while, and both would be perfect signings for us, so those could be potential targets. No idea who else though. Maybe Ibrahimovic in as his contract I think is out in the summer, to be a stop gap? Pretty sure he had a good relationship with Mourinho.

He's a cheat. That will stoop to any level to win a football match. Some of the tactics he gets his players to perform are unsavory.

Would love it if Mourinho see's this as the best opportunity of his career. A great challenge but one where he knows if he performs to his best, then he'll win the lot. Redemption, trophies, the chance to emulate Sir Alex and the best 2 managers in the world, bar none, managing in Manchester.

It still boggles the mind how Moyes was picked over him. At the time it seemed crazy and looking back...crazy

I wonder if Ferguson even likes Mourinho

Id be mostly happy (the completely will be if / when he starts / continues playing and promoting youth). Id rather see CBJ as LB cover than a midfielder out position. I know it took injuries to get to this position, but hopefully we see some of that with Jose.

I thought Jose should have taken over from Fergie. Will be interesting to see who he tries to get to our club (probably will go for Bale, Griezman, Stones and maybe even Pogba).

Let's be honest, the cheating Giggs did was far more unsavoury. Maybe you're not for Giggs but needs must. I hope Mourinho cleans his act up a little bit for us but better the devil we know than someone unproven. Mourinho is the closest thing to a guaranteed league title there is.

Even Mourinho doesn't like Mourinho. He strikes me as a self loathing individual.

It will be interesting to see him here that's all I'll say. People can change and he will need to if he takes this job on.

I do have an open mind to it, and will welcome the news if it becomes true, but it all just feels a bit dirty to me.

Reckon Poch, Blanc, or Conte would fit us better, but Mourinho would certainly make things interesting.

His time wasting tactics from minute 0 to beat Liverpool and destroy there title win was pretty savory

I couldn't care less if he falls out with Sir Bobby or pokes a make-a-wish kid in the eye. If he wins us trophies, I am all for it.

He might be the only non-United fan who hates Liverpool more than any United fan. Which is a bonus point.

I have said in this thread that while I'm not happy I will accept him as manager if it happens.

Sky Sports have spent the last few days carving City's name into the 17, 18 and 19 Premier League trophies, and all the cups too, ffs.

I think his potential for longevity will be a lot higher at a club with no boardroom interference. No Perez, Emenolo or Shevchenko gifts etc He's made it clear that the English league is his favorite and he now has a seat at the biggest and richest club in the land so I can see him staying here for a quite a bit. If he loses this job whats left...PSG, Porto, Inter? Huge step down

Then he really will be bad with youth.

The fact his appointment will piss off dippers is a plus. First game Vs Wenger will be interesting too.

Barcelona, Ajax, Celtic?

And the list goes on how fecking far? And apart from Barca, how good have Ajax and Celtic been compared to Mous teams? Ajax had their time, agreed, but for how long? I'm just saying that Mourinho gets far more shit for this than deserved compared to others. If someone is successful, pwople will always try to pinpoint something "bad".

Yeah its great. Next season we will have some pretty intense rivalries again...Mourinho and United vs Liverpool, Mourinho vs Guardiola, Mourinho vs Wenger, Mourinho vs Chelsea. Exciting

Mourinho, Klopp, Pep, Wenger and whoever Chelsea get. Some solid entertainment there.
