Bayindir HAS to start the next game.
He didn't
The first one was down to the wall having a huge hole in it and the 2nd was Martial's fault.

On the 2nd freekick the angle from behind the goal shows Onana positioning his feet on the goalline ready to deal with it but when the ball comes in he sees Martial motioning like he was going to make what should have been an easy header clear and adjusts his feet accordingly but Martial dosnt make the easy header leaving Onana only a split second to react and make a save which causes him to fumble it.

Genuine question.

Have you ever actually watched a football match in your life?

I genuinely don’t think Bayindir will start a game for the rest of the season now that we’re out of Europe

Onana won’t want to go to AFCON and Ten Hag will want to try to justify the Onana fee

And there will always be those videos where any keeper would be looking very very good.

Bayindir may end up being crap but we don't know at what stage in the career when the errors were done , he might have gotten the errors out of his system.

Give him some games and see how he goes on from there.

"Bench Onana and start Bayindir"

First game in months:
Knees weak, arms are heavy
Theres vomit on his track suit already

I'm pretty certain he won't play a single game. Cameroon will not qualify and Onana will be back before our next game.

Unfortunately this is looking a likely scenario

Shame for Bayindir - he deserved a chance at some point

Listened to his interview with the club podcast and despite his limited English (massive Borat vibes!) he came across really well

Exactly. It's not aren't any ball playing goalies out there. Onana's key selling point is that ETH trust him.

I love this narrative that Onana was some unknown, unproven dud and the only reason we got him is because of ETH.

ten hag would rather start with no goalkeeper than trust one of his own signings.

I think the guy was brought in for FFP shenanigans. At this point there is absolutely no reason to think otherwise. I do feel sorry for him. We will probably sell him without him starting even one game.

I was in the camp of getting Costa from porto younger and looked a better keeper.

Honestly we really don't know unless we are professional scouts and even then there is a huge element of luck n uncertainty. Even a manager like ETH with a season under his belt still gets us players that can't fit in the PL.

The best we can hope for will be our brilliant 20/20 hindsight vision.

If one thing ETH has taught me is that as fans we know feck-all. We thought he was the modern-day Messiah manager. Then even Murtough, took the chance on his career and almost lock stock got him the players ETH wanted.

They were after all, familiar with his philosophy and coaching approaches. We bought into the him; with each transfer getting more important in getting us to the promise land.

Feckin' onana was supposed to be transformation a player. All that hype and trust in both the media and mainly it was ETHs choice over say Costa like you suggested.

We need ultimately need to develop some humility and self-awareness. Don't look for messiahs, transfer hypes. They don't exist. A lot of it is sheer luck and timing especially when it comes to managers.

He'll probably play Heaton if Onana doesn't come back

Gambia are whack. They'll beat them and either qualify directly or as one of the 4 best 3rd places.

The thing that has surprised me the most is our lack of organisation this season. Aside from man management, PR, signings and all that other mess I thought we would at LEAST be organised on the pitch. Those ajax teams looked so well drilled, even when in Europe against the giants. I really don't get it.

Please identify the FFP shenanigans

Neither do I. But it's been shit on the pitch since march 2023. And at best, very inconsistent.

That period where we were playing 3 games a week for 2/3 months for me we showed very good signs of a top team. Especially Spurs at home. That was the archetype of what I expected from Ten Hag. We were on the halfway line, pressing high. We had the 8s high up and the fullbacks tucked in, every time they tried to break out we had them cornered. Fast forward a year and Spurs came to OT and dominate us and we play the opposite of all of those things!

100%.

It's like ETHs system is such a finely tuned machine, one piece out of order it doesn't work? It's really difficult to understand what's going on.

I dont think any goalkeeper would succeed in this Man Utd side with fans who will turn blame them for almost every goal we conceed despite them not having any proper defence in front of them.

DDG made awful mistakes on a regular basis all through his time at Man Utd but never got anywhere near the amount of abuse Andre Onana has recieved.

All through his time at Man Utd? fecking hell this is a bullshit post.

Upgrade on De Gea, fine, but for several seasons De Gea was our one world class footballer.

Onana is trash but Ten Hag will die on that hill with him. His efforts at the AFCON show that he's just not in the right space to play as a no.1 at the moment. His signing is another indictment on the ETH era.

We seem to collect goalkeepers like the first team collect parking tickets whilst letting the promising Kovar move
