Bayindir HAS to start the next game.
He didn't
Yeah he won’t. If Amorim drops Onana now he will kill the confidence of our first choice keeper, Andre may never recover. We are stuck with him until we sign a replacement.
Or it will be a kick up the back side he needs?

Why does everyone say how good Onana is on the ball? I know he's had periods where he was good but look at Brighton and ignore the error that led to a goal that no professional football should ever do, he had 4 accurate long balls out of 15 (26% accuracy), 14/26 passes (54%) but don't worry as he held onto the ball for 20 minutes and told everyone to calm down about 20 times
It’s more that he can find the simple pass under pressure, should the option be on.

You’d have noticed in the Brighton game he was happy to allow the CF to get within a yard or 2 of him before playing the pass, it allows an overload to occur somewhere on the pitch as the CF has now taken themselves out of the game by effectively being stood on the same spot as our GK. that leaves 10 outfield reds vs Brightons 9 should be play vertically.

This is something Byandir does not have the composure/ability to deliver, and something that the passing accuracy metrics struggle to show. It’s about details on actions.

That being said, he’s really poor from a technical goalkeeping perspective, you can view my comment history, as I’ve said just as much throughout his time here.

I think we should be in the market for a keeper in the next few windows, or imminently if this form persists.

What have we got to lose? Onana's blunder at 1-2 yesterday was as bad as it gets, doesn't get worse.
You are right. Nothing to lose. Onana is destroyed. Might be better to give him a run. Also, no one talking about this, but 2nd goal is a huge blunder, ball crossed him with 2 meter distance. Its as stoopid not grabbing it as Antony going down when he could just tap in.

Bad mistake, dropping him would be undestandable. At the same time, it would make playing out the back worse.

Pop

Can we afford to give Bayindir a go to build up his confidence? Too much pressure already but he also plays for Turkey so maybe he can handle it?
I’d be surprised if Onana is dropped , expect him in goals Thursday night

But wasn’t there indications from early on that Onana was wobbly? Then he lets in two goals. Big big decisions incoming

True - the ballboys and girls would be shattered collecting high-flying footballs from all over the country

He also performed great saves, so we have to consider that.

It could be that we can use an upgrade on Onana, but the Bayindir vs Onana argument is not obvious.

A PL level keepers ability to stop shots, should be a minimum requirement, not a sole reason you should keep starting a keeper who's actively destroying any chance of us salvaging points, at least once a month. Performing saves should be a given it's everything else he's a liability at.

Bayindir will surely start vs Rangers and if he does well again you'd think Amorim will be starting him for rest of Europa and Fa Cup games. Then who knows, perhaps he can take Onana's place in league as well. Or he's bad in some games and we then may even look for 2 GKs in summer.
