I knew it. Our midfield is crap tonight. Ze Roberto and Basturk are dominating. Fergie please switch Veron away from the right - we are getting killed there.

Saying that, RVN just scored from a penalty.

Now bring on Keano and hold the fort!

The defense plays awesome at times, then shite the other moments. It has totally cost United a huge lead in this game. What if RVN connects on one of those 3 chances in the first half...would Leverkusen had crumbled down 2-0 at half?

Just to add to a strange night -- P. Neville who came on for Gaz Neville now replaced by Irwin . . .
 
On the bright side, Juventus drew at Old Trafford in the 99 CL Semifinal (thanks only to Giggs last gasp equalizer). Then United went on the rode, having never won in Italy, fell behind 2-0 in first 10 minutes, and rallied to win 3-2 and take aggregate 4-3. So hope is not lost and I think United will be strong come next week. Keano will definately start and lead the team to victory. Of course this match is still not over. Let's hope for some United magic before the final whistle.
 
Maybe you guys didn't know before: Lucio is probably the best defender of the world, and the combo of Ballack, Bastuerk and Ze Roberto in midfield is kind of unique too.

Anyway, there is a chance in Leverkusen as well, but that needs first of all a very good defense. We will see.

Guess Liverpools 1-0 win at home is not looking so bad, is it! Mmmm, uphill battle in the second leg for Man Utd!!!

United didn't play well in the second half, but they can play better and hopefully will next Tuesday. So we go there and win -- nothing to it! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />
 
Not easy to trash a team like Bayer when your defense is dodgy! Ours was considered the best in Europe and we were made to concede 4!!!

Seriously though, Bayer were superb tonite, shaded possesion, and completely outclassed you guys in the 2nd!!!

we were lucky not to lose.. our midfield looked disorganised and lacked any sort of shape.. giggsy was all over the place, veron should've been played in the centre..this way we would've stretched the game more...


anyway, when was the last time we won a CL semi at home??? hopefully with keane starting at the Bay Arena we'll have a chance...

Expect the scousers to come out of the woods for this. I see that one has already arrived and his 2nd post in the United forum was to trash them. Typical scouser. Hey, what was Liverpool's result this afternoon?

also, Utd were supposed to slip up at Chelsea and creamed them last Sat. Why did Scholes come off? injured?
next week will be velly interesting....
 
Quite simply, they were better than us tonight and easily deserved the draw. We need to play a lot better than that next week. We do usually play better away though so let's pray we do again next Tuesday.

That's my point...they're sitting at home watching two great football teams battle for a European championship. Liverpool fans have no room to talk. No league titles in over a decade, no Champions Cup in nearly 20 years.

Totally agree.

I still prefer to see Giggsy on the wing, and Ole in the middle. It may have worked recently, but was that down to the opposition's short-comings?

Few observations:
United played far too deep.
Veron was very very frustrating tonight. Perhaps he's not fit, or just because he was out of position. But, it needs sorted, we cant afford to carry him any longer.
Butt was the best player on the pitch tonight.
Keane looked like he'd never been away when he came on.
Ole is no right winger.
We could do with a keeper that opens his gob a bit more and shouts at the defence to get out, or tells a defender when to play it and when to leave it.
England are fecked for right-back if Nev has a broken bone.

Still, its only half-time. Game still on.
