Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Much Better than MW2

Introducing the latest installment in the Battlefield series.

Bad Company 2 (being released on all platforms & PC) will feature a revised battle damage system that allows players to realistically damage the environment they're fighting in.

With a max player count of 40 people, Bad Company 2 should provide enough action to entice those gamers still playing Battlefield 2. But Bad Company 2 should be one of the most eagerly awaited games next year. Perhaps trumping the latest installent of Modern Warfare.

Check the above trailer out for ingame footage. I personally didn't buy Bad Company 1, but might feel inclined to purchase BC2. As long as they don't axe any of the promised features mind you!

That looks ball blowing. BF1943 on live arcade is still going strong.

Do I have room for this, Modern Warfare 2 and Operation Flashpoint in my collection though? Seems like overkill.

Not bothering with Modern Warfare 2 personally, and i'd buy ARMA2 rather than Operation Flashpoint which is a huge disappointment in my eyes. Which is a shame because i'm hopefully getting a job with Codies next year *fingers crossed*. I'll sort em out!

Cool. I like Codies. What job are you looking for?

Also can you make sure that they de-americanise the Colin McRae series a tad though? ie.. completely.

Out of interest - What's your issues with Op Flash 2? I'm having second thoughts on that myself. Looks a bit too serious and sterile.

Environmental Artist is the position i'm applying for.

My issues with Op Flash 2, well I'm disappointed by the overall finish of the game. The vegetation is pretty sparse and the texturework is pretty ugly. I'm also not too keen on the gameplay videos, it seems a little too repetitive and dare I say boring. Espically with the low player count, I'd prefer to play ARMA2 with a much larger community and in general better gameplay.

If ARMA2 hadn't come out, then i'm sure I would have bought Op Flash 2 mind.

Can't we all just agree that COD is the only FPS worth buying and be done with it.

More of the same, theres nothing really new about it. It's like buying an expansion pack for the Sims, sure the singleplayer is normally pretty good fun. But i'm not spending 30+ pound of 6-8 hours worth of gameplay.

Having spent a good few hours playing MC1's multiplayer, the 2nd doesn't bring anything new to the table apart from more maps and some new weapons.

Bad Company 2 is the way forward. Having a fully dynamic battlefield sounds more like my cup of tea :)

In fairness I really quite like Bad Company's singleplayer. I didn't play it online because I can't stand console based competitive multiplayer. It would have been ideal for co op, and I'm slightly bemused that it didn't have it.

I'll definately buy BC2 but on what platform remains up in the air - if the multiplayer looks boring Xbox, but if it looks like top fun then computer.

Oh yeah I forgot youve played MW2

And if you knew anything about it you would know that MW2 is going to be very different

Yup I was also one of the few that liked bc, had a good go at the multiplayer too.

Me. Only because I can't stand WW2 games though.

What got me about CoD4 was that there was no scope for a varied style of play in singleplayer or multiplayer. It was always medium to close range stuff - the inclusion of sniper rifles was near pointless - there was on map they were of any real use in (Bloc). All anyone else ever used them for was to show their manliness for using a sniper rifle when a sane person would use an assault rifle.

In singleplayer it was a corridor affair - there was little scope to approach from a different angle like circling around for a different angle, like there was in BC (or Far Cry 1/2, Crysis, etc etc)

I bet you it won't... if it was there'd be uproar. MW has it's fans and I don't think they would react very well to change, how many people still prefer COD4 to WaW?

All of the changes have been welcomed by the fans.

And the only reason WaW sucks is because it was made by Treyarch

Yes, because they are minor changes, perks, weapons, camo, etc...
You said it would be different, no. Improved maybe, but not different, you understand what I'm saying right?

My point is that as far as differences between the games, there aren't many, but enough to for people to not like it.

You were saying that MW2 will be different, I took this as you saying that it is going to make waves in the industry much like the original MW. I can't see it... unless you meant different as in the difference between two iterations of a sports game (PES for example).

Yeah, by different I mean the "minor" changes even though to me they arnt minor because they are seriously going to change the online experience

Yea I get you, I'm not usually a run and gunner. I like planning and executing a mission stealthily so the games you mentioned above are classics for me. I don't mind corridors or urban warefare, and a linear story is cool with me as long as there is a bit of variety in how you can approach tasks. Tom Clancy games are brilliant, GRAW1/2, most if not all of the earlier ghost recon and rainbow six games are classic. I even like all of the splinter cells.

Yea, I reckon it will improve it, they now what they are doing. This won't be that go to game for me though. I'm hoping BC2 or OFP2 will be like when I first played OFP1... I was like WTF? You can do that? BC1 didn't quite get there, the earlier battlefields were weak on story and I haven't tried ArmA yet.

What do you think of that death perks thing?

Tbf, ive never played Battlefield and the like, will have to give them a bash from what people have said about them.

I think the death streaks are good and bad, I think they should make it only available to people on the first prestige otherwise it will just get abused by "pros" like martydom.

It's a love/hate thing, some people find the scope daunting... try it though.

love the thought of destructable enviroment, i always enjoy battlefied, its one of those pick up and play games.

Well got the beta last night and played it for an hour or two.

Bit hard to judge the game from 1 map, but I love the destructable environment. Adds so much to the game, providing more tactics and helping to evolve the gameplay. Not being able to prone is a real headfeck however, i'm so used to doing it!

The vehicles are very easy to destroy, again this maybe map related, but they were being taken out extremely quickly. The laser tagging aids this because frankly, it makes destroying them alot easier.

So far its very promising, much better than MW2. More dynamic, more satisying and a damn sight harder!

im downloading the online multiplayer demo, cant wait.

Can't get enough of this... anyone wants a sesh just add me.

I downloaded the demo. Not fussed on it. Probably because I'm just too used to playing Call of Duty.

I've played AVP3, MW2 and this. Personally, MW2 is probably the worst of the 3, AvP3 is fantastic, can't get enough of it and thats just a blooming demo!

The beta however is very good. The map is pretty poor example to show off the multiplayer of BC2. Conquest on larger maps should be more entertaining and tactical.

AVP's good? used to play it on the PC ages ago... is it similar to that or an entirely different game?
