I really hope we are still in for the other schnederlin Though. He is still the long term successor to Carrick imo. Schweinsteiger is just a stop gap albeit a very good one.
You've summed up what most fans in this thread are thinking I reckon. Hope that VG is thinking it aswell.

Idiots who did not believe and spent june and all of this month to act all high and mighty in here deserve to be shot. How can they be sharing all this glory with us believers?

He is as old as Scholes in 2005. Scholes gave us a few world class seasons since then. I am not sure that the injuries of last year will be the norm. Again for comparison Schweini played 28 matches last season. Scholes played 27 in 2005-2006.

If he is past peak then it is bad, but if not then we will have a fantastic midfielder for a few years. At the worst case, I think that he'll be a very useful player and a much needed leader in a team who lacks them.

Anyway, I am most excited for this signing because there is the possibility that Van Gaal will Schweinsteiger Schweinsteiger. How cool that would be?!
Didn't Scholes have an eye problem that year where he missed half a season and some people thought he might not return?

Dont want to be all in the know here. But I've got a mate who works for Sky Germany and is good mates with David Alaba and Jerome boateng and he told me it's happening!!
Cocks out Lads!!!! We have a worldie at United Ana Ivanovix

Just seen the article in Bild, this is definitely happening! Who can I speak to around here about getting a name change to Super Schweini? We all need to crack open some German beer to celebrate this news. He's a proven winner and will be a great signing.

You need to make a thread in the general.

Why not Fussballgott - that is his nickname... :D

Feel like the only United fan who is completely unenthusiastic about this.

Even if it's for one season, the money we can seemingly lavish on anything we want will be worth it. It'll be a pleasure to see him at OT, and ultimately entertainment is the thing we watch football for.

I'm in the same boat. I've always wanted us to sign him but if it means we don't get Schneiderlin then I'm not happy. Signing an expensive 31 year old instead of a 25 year old who is used to the league is ludicrous. I hope we sign both

Look how continental we are this window  An Italian, a Dutch and a German. See it off with an Argentine/Spaniard and a Frenchman and we'll be laughing.

I can't believe if we pull this off he'll be playing holding midfield for us so I really don't see it being an 1 or the other scenario in regards to Schneiderlin

Im only commenting on the expensive part. He will cost around 12-13m pounds. The wages Im not worried about. We can afford it. We also got rid of three big earners in RVP, Falcao and Nani.

This is a fantastic signing

I dont understand the people complaining about it being too much money for a 31 year old...£14m is nothing. 130k is fine as well...especially when Falcao was here doing nothing last year for 200k

Well the other end of that is, we just let RvP got for about 5?

This is how it feels to be City, this is how it feels to be small, you've signed Bastian we've signed Fabian Delph, Fabian Delph, Fabian Delph.

You're not.

His age and injury problems make this a pretty silly signing imo. It's been four years since he played an injury free season and now he's turning 31 and moving to the most physical league where he no longer has a winter break to help him through the season. He also seems to be costing a hell of a lot for an old player in the last year of his contract who Bayern aren't keen on keeping.

Schneiderlin would have been a far better signing.

Going from Carrick, Fletcher, Fellaini, Cleverly to Carrick, Fellaini, Hererra, Mata, Schweinsteiger, and Schniderlin is a huge upgrade!
