We ahould give him a job in our PR Social Media team, all he seems to do is wish people birthday wishes and do selfies.

He would be perfect at Arsenal.
 He'd become even more injury-prone too, if that was ever possible.

I still like him and hope some how Jose lets him back into the first team.

How bad is it to let the guy play the Europa league and cup games and the odd PL match if we have injuries and to help Pogba and the young guys learn what it means to be a pro.

We have Carrick ,Herrera and Schneiderlin far ahead of him. And they aren't even starting.

He won't play . Mourinho isn't here to run a sentimentality retirement home.

He's a legend but he's not a United legend, the club should cut their losses and pay a club a percentage of his wage to get rid of him.

I'm not that negative about the transfer though, he was a high profile player and it was one of the turning points in our transfers, it attracts major players.

He was still signing and posing for photos with fans on arrival. Dream signing for me, but it's not going to end well.

I have no doubt he still wants to be here because he feels he has something to offer as opposed to seeing out his deal and picking up his wages on the side.

His best hope if he survives the window is to knuckle down and if and when an opportunity arises (we get injuries combined with Jose not being an advocate of chucking in youth) grasp it.

Really sad how it's turned out for him here.

He was one of my favourite players for years. A true fighter in the middle. Would love to see him next to Pogba if he's fit.

I think his PR-strategy is to show as often as he can that he is in Manchester. Not somewhere else. To kill the rumours that he is flying to WTA tournaments or Munich every free minute.

He has always done it. So it's unfair to say it's a PR strategy.

He was not doing that before. That was during the time he was injured. And I still do not understand why somebody that cannot help the team should spent all his time alone in Manchester when he cannot play or exercise with the team.

Was their not issues with him disappearing off last season back to Germany? Injured too much for my liking and we have so many options in midfield now we don't really need him.

That's what came out in the press yes, along with visits to watch his missus play tennis in various destinations while he was injured.

I have a feeling he'll be around until January, or until we pay off his contract ala Adebayor.

If he has any pride he'll take a big pay cut and move to a decent club.

Or he might be confident he can force his way into Jose plans. Ala Beckham in his last year at Real Madrid

Team building, team spirit, cohesion, getting to know everybody, showing that you care about the club. Escaping at every opportunity means you're distancing yourself from others in the club.

Not sure what you mean by this. Surely it's that Jose is 100% right and he isn't needed.

Yes, but also look at the change in style of play. I suppose his supporters would say he would have adapted, but to me he was LvG's main representative on the pitch, that wholeheartedly followed his negative instructions.

He's probably infront of a blue screen in Munich as well.

Just do the right thing and move Basti.

Fair play to him still giving the support.

Needs to get a move though. This happens in football, it's noone's fault. The whole point of a new manager is new ways of doing things

Noone's fault again!

Steffen Freund has said a few days ago that he was in the same situation (like Schweinsteiger) at Tottenham under Hoddle but a few weeks later Hoddle was very impressed with Freund and he was back in the first team.

And maybe Mourinho will be sacked in a few months.

But if Schweinsteiger wants to move to the MLS then it's better for him to stay here till January/February.

I really think Basti will be another Valdes situation.

He won't want to give up his 200k per week wages & no other club will offer him that.

Basti might just stick around to collect paychecks till he runs his contract down or earns a move elsewhere hugely subsidized by United.

Could have had Gündogan, LvG said no, ends up giving his old mate 200k\week, now we can't get rid.

Another masterstroke by the rusty iron tulip.

Im glad he is acting with class and supporting the team.

especially considering it is starting to look very likely that we arn't going to find a buyer.

I think he knows that he's finished and will sit out for the rest of his contract. This guy has won it all and thanks to the media he's the victim in this story

He was out on vacation until the news broke out. Actually people at the club were annoyed by his absence while he was injured. What he's doing now is too little, too late.

Some rumour sites were linking him with Celtic over the weekend. I can't see them being able to afford his wages. He's probably on more than half the Celtic team combined.

he was on vacation because he has been at the eruos' he reported back when he was meant to and was sent to train with the reserves, which he has done without complaint.

i completely agree with jose wanting to sell him as he is in noway the player he was, but the guy has acted nothing but professional, which is all we can hope for in a situation like this, where a player of his stature seems set to be staying at the club despite not having a place in the squad.
