Who's your Papi?

(Sorry all...my G/F is from Boston...she's gone crazy!)

lol -

the curse is still on until they win a championship. beating the evil empire was just a step , but it means sfa at the end of the day.

and JacS how is it pay back for the yanks if the cards/stros win???

the curse is broken....honestly; this has gotta be one of the best come-backs ever.

great win for the Red Sox. I guess that "reverse the curse" party held in Boston this year may have worked. hope they go all the way now to win it.

Sorry Wolverine...the "curse" is the world series which they have not won in 86 years, not the Yankees, they beat us, not the curse...yet.

and it wasn't a comeback, it was a meltdown.

A-Rod eh? What was he, 1-15 against the Sox in the last 4 games or something like that? Can someone say choke.

The Yankees just didn't have enough pitching to close out the Sox. They hit enough to win games 4 and 5 and had the lead late in both games. Last night, they were down 6-0 right away and Lowe had great stuff. The Sox deserve credit for winning a tough series and nobody choked.

good post - sometimes teams just win , sometimes they choke. the pitching was the difference. and beating the yanks especially like this is great but it means nothing unless they win a championship.

and larry luchino (sp?) said that the yanks didn't supply the red sox owners a box for first two games at the stadium. mlb mandates a box must be made avilable for the visiting team. the red sox gave the yanks one but george decided to stay home. not celtic/rangers stuff but it's about as good as it gets over here.

on a lighter note a newspaper in NY about 30-40 miles (maybe more) from NYC had a front pager

RED SOX BEAT THE YANKEES - PIGS FLY HELL FREEZES OVER

that good stuff and tounge in cheek shows some sence that - it really is only a game.

Schilling and Pedro have been shutting down hitters their whole careers, and Lowe just had one of those days. The Red Sox have a strong bullpen and they did a great job, especially Foulke. Meanwhile the Yanks only has a few effective pitchers - Mussina, Lieber, El Duque, and Rivera - and it wasn't enough against a good-hitting team like the Sox. It turned out that Louaiza pitched very well, but who could see that one coming after he got hammered all year and didn't win a game for the Yanks during the season.

The Sox gave the Yankees a sky box, but it was out in the outfield and positioned so that they could hardly see the field. It was reported that team officials had to walk over a plank to access it. The Yankees told the Sox that they would rather have tickets near their dugout and that's what the Sox gave them. When the Sox came to NY, the Yankees provided the same type seats, but no skybox. The management of the two teams serriously hate each other.

Today's New York papers have similar headlines and one has a picture of Babe Ruth crying inside. There are a lot of Met fans in NY who like to see the Yankees lose, so the papers are free to play up to them. It was like that in the bars during the series. Half of the people rooting for the Sox were NY Met fans whoi during the regular season have nothing to cheer for.

i was at the game and im in shock :nervous:  :annoyed: :(

i dont know what to say hopefully united can help heal me this weekend

St. Louis, like the Yanks, seems more cut out to being successful during the regular season. The Sox with their two dominant pitchers are built as a playoff team. I don't think that the St. Louis startes can beat either Schilling or Pedro and I don't think that their relievers will be able to shut down the Sox in the late innings. As much as I hate to say it, I think that the Sox will win. If Wakefield pitches well enough for the Sox to win the first game, it could be over in 4 games. Might as well just shoot me.

No need to shoot you Kenny.. The cardinals will not get swept. Of course the Sox have an undeserved advantage (home field) and in the end that might be the difference. No Wildcard regardless of Bud Selig "It Counts" all star games should have home field.

The cards have to win game 1

Prediction Cards in 7

first game 6-3 Cardinals Wakefield goes 6 but pen gives up late homer to renteria for the final diff in the score

second game 5-3 Sox Schill gets through 6 and Sox survive late Rally

Third Game 2-1 Cardinals Pedro and Suppan lock up in a pitchers duel

4th Game 7-6 Sox - Cards can put strangle hold on Series but Redsox pull out a slug fest

5th Game 4-3 Cardinals - Cards do enough to beat Lowe

6ht game 8-2 Sox - Sox get to marqui early and often Wakefield befuddles the cards

7th Game 11-4 Cards - Schill strikes out first 6 batters then a pig falls from the sky and schills ankle finally gives in. The cardinals small ball there way to the world series title.

MVP - Edgar renteria

Cards should bunt on Schill, like the Yanks didn't do. His velocity went down for a bit after he had to cover first a couple of times. If he's not healthy, Cards have a much better shot.

That's just gibberish.

It's rounders.

Trying to take credit for baseball too.

I understand exactly what kenny is saying. It reminds me of the karate kid when they tell that dude to sweep the leg. You got a problem with it? NO sensay.

The cardinals may do that but not early in the game.

If you really knew the game, it wouldn't be gibberish - so I have my doubts.
i used to think baseball was the most boring game in the world, but then i started to switch to the sportsnet channel and ''study'' their plays.. and started to understand the rules and stuff, then I found out it was not that bad afterall.

he did throw 92-94 fastball in game 6, which i think was not bad, i think he should be back in form by the time the cardies visit Boston.
anyhow, i still hate boston, GO CARDIES!!!

did the curse leave with garciaparra? are the cubbies cursed twice now?

Its all over! Boston has beaten the Yankees! Has the curse been broken?

The curse isn't about the Sox not beating the Yankees, but about the Sox not winning the World Series.

But hey, they've got to win sometime? And believe it or not: if you believe the Cubs-rule, the Sox would actually win, since they have fewer ex-Cubs on the team than their opponents...

And its only a by product of a book that was written 30 years ago discussing the fact. It really has come to the head the past 4 or 5 years.

Cards let the Sox of the hook last night and now they face schill
Dont like my chances

CMON REDBIRDS.

Lock and load. If Lowe pitches like he did against the Yankees (and I think he will), the Sox will win. Meanwhile, I'm calling all my Sox friends and congratulating them, hoping to put a jinx on them.

I heard that Boston has already made plans for a victory parade.

I bloody hope not.

(but I'd be kidding myself if I didn't think that things look good).
In some ways I'd love to see the series go back to Fenway but if that happened I dunno if the Sox could finish them off there.

Don't worry about the Sox. They could come back from 3-0 vs the Yankees because they have Schilling and Pedro and a good bullpen, while the Yankees didn't have a dominant pitcher and have a shaky bullpen. Without dominant pitching, I don't think that the Cards could beat both Pedro and Schilling.

do you think Pedro will return to Boston after this season? rumors said he MIGHT be going to the Yankees

Congrats to Boston.....I bet they're having a wicked good time, there in MA. :p

it's a wicked pissa.

actually it will be a crazy once new england wakes up from sleep walking. but it's only been 86 years so only a 3-4 day drinking binge.

ted can sleep - headless but sleeping. ssweep the team that did them in 46 and 67 - i can remember the later. and almost makes 75 and 86 pain free.

pitching , pitching and more pitching, and lets not forget pitching.
