Yes, but if I understand correctly, he now specified it more clearly. That's likely true, as they won't qualify for the CVC money, 15% of which can be used to cover salaries as far as I understand it anyway.
110% of the revenue ? Barca revenue is 700M , so their wages are 770M ???Yes, but if I understand correctly, he now specified it more clearly.
He says the financial situation and the 'salary mass' they found was severe (110% of revenue...) and it was impossible to comply with FFP rules going forward. He hoped the league could be "more flexible" but that it's not an excuse, they knew the rules beforehand and other clubs understandably want the rules to be applied evenly. So he takes responsibility as the club there.
Then, if I understood, I think he said there would have been a way to re-sign Messi and get the FFP approval had they accepted the CVC deal (meaning the CVC deal money could have made it possible, not that the league blackmailed them tying the issues together), but he can't in good conscience make a decision that would affect the club for 50 years going forward.
Which are good statements.
He doesn't completely shut the door on a turnaround, but doesn't want to give "false hope" as long as FFP remains "unflexible" as Messi has other offers....
No idea what timespan he's refering to, just said that the numbers they (the new presidency) found when they came into the club were much worse than they had thought.110% of the revenue ? Barca revenue is 700M , so their wages are 770M ???
Yeah, but he's still putting pressure on La Liga.Sensible press conference from Laporta.
Says they needed to make a decision and not 'prolong the agony'.
Yeah, but he's still putting pressure on La Liga.
I purposely avoided that word, but yeah one could see it that way. Even if he doesn't mince his words concerning the financial situation of the club.“Pressure” or “blame”, or both.
I'm positively surprised in the way he explicitly takes responsibility, as the club, for the FFP non-compliance, says the rules were known and it's due to the 'inheritance' (the previous administrations mismanagement) that they can't comply. He's not actually acting like they were entitled to be let off the hook.“Pressure” or “blame”, or both.
In fairness it seems pretty clear that Regulus was making the point that the league will survive without Messi, as good as he may be, given how the PL (and United) were fine after Ronaldo left.
Ladron you definitely seem to be the one derailing, by being so desperate to state multiple times how much better you think Messi is (which is a reasonable opinion to have, I actually agree he's better, even though you seem to exaggerate wildly and referred to Ronaldo as "the other guy" for some bizarre reason). There's a thread dedicated to just that, you don't need to bring it up every time Ronaldo is mentioned.
Anyway the original point is correct, La Liga and Barca won't suddenly stop existing. Besides, Barca need to get used to life after Messi. It was always going to happen eventually, this way seems like ripping off the plaster rather than slowly peeling it off - it'll hurt more at first, but will heal quicker over time.

Surely if Messi leaves it is not good for the La Liga profile. Who will want to watch it without him? It could set them back this season until they can sign big names again or produce their own superstar.Tebas tweeting while Laporta is talking, Trump style
google translates it as "Hello @JoanLaportaFCB, you know that the CVC operation does not mortgage the TV rights of @FCB 50 years, what it does is that they have more value for all the clubs and so you can MORTGAGE your BANKS and solve the great debt. you understood hours ago."What does it say?

The plastics who were following Messi not Barca or la Liga might jump the ship but there are enough people who will still watch it. Or do you think that La Liga started in 2004?Surely if Messi leaves it is not good for the La Liga profile. Who will want to watch it without him? Laporta: "Last season's losses are 487 million euros. This Season it will be more "
Holy shit , 500M loss ? How is Barca not banned because of FFP
He literally said this in his Press ConferenceThat's too much, it must be a mistake.

People will still watch La Liga. Sure, Messi leaving hurts but the financial mismanagement of several teams hurts the league more.Surely if Messi leaves it is not good for the La Liga profile. You seem emotional too. And you have the other thread for that comparison as well. This thread is about Barcelona being in a perilous state.
It's probably dawned on him how fecked La Liga really is.If he loves them he’ll cave and agree to play for a measly 300k a week.
I think he’s already on blower to PSG.
They probably are in cahoots after being butt hurt with the ESL fiasco. Hardly a theory, let's roll with it.I’m going to throw a conspiracy theory out there that I’ve just made up:
Barcelona and Real Madrid are both secretly in cahoots with La Liga over this salary cap. It’s a chance for both teams to have a major reset and a chance for Laporta to get Messi off the books while holding his hands up and saying it’s not his fault.
When was this salary cap introduced, I dont recall hearing about it last season. Also, more pertinently, why was it introduced? Surely la liga knew this would screw over the top teams. Star players leaving means la liga is less lucrative for broadcasters
