LaLiga position has been ridiculous. they just kept the exact same limitations. they only let inscriptions for this year because it was literally impossible to make changes for the last season. 0 help to fix the economic issues. exactly same rules applied as if covid never existed. they couldn't loose a little bit to give the clubs some extra time to adjust.
barça is obviously in the worst situation, because of the big salaries and because it had the biggest revenues and they fell dramatically due to covid. but it is not the only one.
- real madrid had saved money for a big signing this year (hopefully mbappe). this money and selling some players like varane will allow them to respect the FFP. but it wasn't the plan.
- atletico had an increase of capital (180 million euros) a few weeks ago. this is the reason they have signed somebody, but they will probably need to sell some players.
- sevilla cannot buy anybody and that is why they sold bryan gil and they want to sell kounde, so they can accommodate to the new salary limit.
these are the champions league teams and their situation is bad due to laliga rules, but i could continue with more teams...
basically all medium/top teams are screwed this season due to LaLiga FFP. around 90% of the revenues of small teams come from TV rights so it is not a problem for them (you can check it if you want). besides, it is easier for them to get rid of players.
Doesn't Barca have this thing where owners are personally liable for bad financial results?
Yes, but that is why we had some clearly "weird" swaps like arthur-pjanic, to cheat the financials. He didn't put a loss in a season, he just made the ball bigger and bigger until it exploded with covid.
anyway, he is a felon, there are other ways to try to put him in jail.
Bartomeu might still go to jail over the whole anti-own-player-pr-campaign that was payed for with club money but probably not for the financial disaster he plumeted Barca into.
exactly, this has been looooong before his disaster management, if you can call it management
Barcelona sinking into obscurity is delightful. I initially said it’ll take about 5 years to recover but now it’s probably going to be a decade. Messi gone, a lot of unhappy players, a dysfunctional board and that massive debt
we are in the same boat then. nobody likes, quite the opposite, clubs with 0 history before an oil man bought it for pennies. fake team forever.
