Barcelona: Charged with corruption .... again!

Lewandowski and Pedri are the team. The wingers occasionally do something, as does Gavi, but really - if either Lewy or Pedri gets injured for a prolonged period that team is screwed
Raphinha & Dembele not delivering?

Raphinha & Dembele not delivering?
Raphinha is doing nothing and in matches like the last one against Bayern you can see that you just have to focus your defense on Dembele so that he gets nothing through to Lewa and the entire attack is dead. Not Dembele's fault who has skill, but not the best decision making, that he doesn't get many good options what do to.

At least Xavi has figured out the league, unfortunately for us, its literally impossible for them to even concede goals.
They still have only played 2 tough teams away, one was the second game of the season and the other they lost. Next week in El Sadar, let's see if they win that...

Barcelona’s problem is lack of adaptability. Xavi’s too dogmatic and for him, possession is more important than scoring.

You guys fired Koeman for less. Xavi is your own version of Ole, except with much more arrogance.

Are you seriously backing a manager who only knows one way of playing football, is extremely stubborn, loses big games, and when he loses, comes with excuses such as the grass’ length?

If you persist with Mr. excuses, you will achieve nothing. At this rate you will have to sell the Spotify by 2025 to pay players and employees.

One win in seven CL matches. A humiliation in “El Clasico”. Only Lewandowski performing. Barcelona is supposed to be a big club, no the joke they currently are.

First of all I defended Koeman's work the first year, and he was treated badly and unfairly. In his second season, he was lost and unable to straighten the course, and I think he should be fired.
I only have words of thanks to him for his courage in accepting a poisoned charge. And he was fair and gave opportunity to young people over proven players.

Many people in this forum have said that Barcelona should not have signed and spent so much money, and bet on young people in the long term until the economic situation improves.
Well, that's what Barcelona is doing with Xavi, giving him time.

It cannot be that people ask for time and patience to improve the situation of the club and then want to fire the coach after 2 months of starting the season.
Kicking out a coach with 10W-1D-1L, 10 out of 12 clean sheets in the league is crazy.

I think I'd better lever right now
Before I fall any deeper
I think I'd better lever right now
Feelin' weaker and weaker
Somebody better show me how
Before I fall any deeper
I think I'd better lever right now

Levers, Xavi, levers.
Oooh levers, Xavi, levers.
When the season is long
And CL is gone
Then it's time to use some leavers.

Barcelona signs Kounde (23), Kessie (25), Christensen (25), Raphinha (25), P. Torre (19), F. Torres (22), Lewandowski (34).
Is that a short-term plan? There are market opportunities and you have to know how to take advantage.

Maybe we have different definitions. I understand "market opportunity" as an opportunity in the market that is outside of its typical bounds and can be beneficial for the club.

That is true of Kessie and Christensen, who were free transfers. It is also true of Lewandowski, because a player of his caliber is not typically available in the market.

But it is not true of Raphinha, Ferran Torres, Pablo Torre, or Kounde. Torres and Raphinha were both quite expensive and Barcelona paid their market value or above it. They also paid above market value for Pablo Torre although he cost much less. For Kounde they paid slightly lower than market value.

Kounde might be a future star, but neither Torres nor Raphinha look like they have the level to be starters at one of the best clubs in the world. So it's not very clear why Barcelona should have paid market value for them in the first place.

For me the team is very good and I think they simply have a coaching problem.
Xavi can be as dogmatic as he wants as long as he gets results and for years now la liga is not enough, as Valverde proved.
They need to sack him at the end of the season and bring in Luis Enrique.
I don't know if the rumour is based on anything solid but it's the most repeated name.

As a market opportunity, I was referring mainly to those who arrived free, Lewandowski and Koundé.

Raphinha was a highly desirable player for big teams and the starting RW for the Brazilian team. He and Ferrán Torres at the moment are not showing the level that was expected of them.

Pablo Torre was a signing that Barcelona either already did or signed for Real Madrid. I think he is a player with extraordinary talent and quality.

Barcelona had to pay the market value of these players because they needed quality players. Another thing is that they are not performing at the moment.

For me the team is very good and I think they simply have a coaching problem.

I totally agree. Barcelona must continue with Xavi until the end of the season and then decide what to do.

Its so weird, they are crap, but probably favorites, or 50/50 to take the league.

Think that says more about the current state of La Liga rather than Barca tbh.

Teams score against us just fine, and yet its impossible for them to score against Barca, despite the fact they are not good at defending either(see Clasico, UCL-games).
Its just weird.

Barcelona have been quite good in league competition for well over a decade at this point. They are just good domestically.

Even last season, their worst in ages, they got more points than Real Madrid in 18/19 and just a few less than RM 17/18 (a CL winning season).

Good match yesterday from P. Torre. He is a player that I love and with a lot of quality.
Let's see if Xavi is giving him more minutes.

Marc Casadó, well in the minutes he participated. Player with very good pass but who will hardly have a chance. Barcelona will sign someone for Busquets' position.

And yesterday debuted in the youth league with 16 years Pau Prim, a pivot with a lot of quality in the pass with 2 legs.
If he evolves well he can be a player for many years at Barcelona.

Debut Pau Prim

It's because Madrid's and Barcelona's style are very different.

Barcelona plays for possession very high on the pitch, deprieving the opponent of the ball or recovering it fast when they loose it. It's a safe approach when there's no fast players in the opposing team, which is the case in La Liga since it's often slow as feck and even the technical quality dropped a ton for the past couple of years. When they face a team that can evade their first wave of pressure a can launch the ball to a decently skilled player with good pace, they're done.

Real Madrid is more patient and allows the opponent to come a bit closer to their goal, which is a bit more dangerous against teams that takes time to build up but more balanced in big games against top teams because they're not as exposed.

Yeah, especially his quality inside the penalty area looks very promising. A very nice goal too with his weak foot. I hope we will see him more often in the second half of the season. Xavi needs more courage in that regard. Look at Balde. Xavi ignored him during the last season's second half completely because he had no trust in him. Now imagine Balde today with half a season more experience.

xGA RM 11.1; Barcelona 8.5

I agree with your analysis - Barcelona concede by far the fewest shots in the league, and they don't even concede a high quality of shots either - but also, oppos are just shooting poorly against them and Ter Stegen has been really good. By contrast, Courtois hasn't had a good start to the season so far

Piqué retires from football.
Feeling old knowing... just a few years ago... he was a Spanish youngster trying to get his first minutes in senior football when he was at United... and now he's retiring.

Hopefully now that he is retiring the awful barca fans in here slandering a club legend can stfu and have some respect

Big injury/illness or something? Weird to just retire in the middle of the season.

That surely deserves its own thread.

Don't know if true but it would not surprise me a bit

It says that due to a new Spanish law of sports no active player can have a business relationship with the competition he partakes in.

The same thing happened to me when there was a young Argentine who stood out in the Barcelona academy.

He said that when he didn't feel necessary at Barcelona he would leave and he kept his promise.

There'll 100% be some agreement in place regarding deferred wages / outstanding wages.

Isn't there talk of him foregoing a fair chunk of it in order to boost popularity for a presidential run within the next few years?

The information now says that Pique will forgive around €30M for the remainder of his contract.
Barcelona will have to pay him the deferred salary.

Yeah well he can’t claim a wage if he retires. It doesn’t make sense if Barca keep paying him. Getting the money owed is huge

Does getting Pique to retire early equate to another Lever?

Shakiro retiring can only be good for Barcelona. Get off the books a big earner, who was playing at a mediocre level.

He is actually a pretty good businessman, I can see him eventually becoming club’s president. Maybe he will be the one who rescues Barcelona after the terrible administrations that they have had over the years.

He's been shite for years, he knows it, everyone knows it.

It's probably him not getting any enjoyment out of daily trainings and EL games, I mean his main job has been using culeros (who are not quite the brightest bunch) to get new business opportunities, and I can't blame him.

He's be worse than Rosell.

Although he missed the perfect opportunity to leave the club last summer, I still had teary eyes during his video.
An absolute legend and the behaviour the last few weeks towards him especially from culers was shameful. I also didn't wish to see him on the pitch anymore, but the insults from "barca fans" towards a player with such achievements were and are a disgrace. He was not only in the club for 25 years, he was also one of the best defenders in the world and a captain some time of it. He was also a culer and we fans loved him for it. The more espanyol and other spanish stadiums hated him for exactly that reason, the more we loved him.
His five fingers hand in the clasicos became legendary. Blanco fans still have nightmares from it. He won 8 x LaLiga, 7x Copa, 4x CL (once with United), as well as the Euro and World Cup with spain. Other players would sell everything they own to have half a career he has had.
Enjoy the last game at home Geri.

Farewell legend!

Sums up Barça's general behaviour over the past few months pretty well, yep.
