Barcelona: Charged with corruption .... again!

Still don't understand why these big clubs bring back former "legend" players as managers/coaches. Will they ever learn that it's almost guaranteed failure. Look at Ole, Lampard, Gerard, Xavi and I'm sure there are others. I'm sure there is a chance of success but it's very small. It's mind boggling......
Well, there are many success stories too...

Capello, Del Bosque, Guardiola, Zidane - making history at their former clubs in their first senior team gig...

Cruyff doing good at Ajax and then leaving a huge mark at Barca...

Beckenbauer, Ancelotti, Conte, Simeone - achieving great things in their beloved homes without that much prior experience...

Vialli and Di Matteo being cup magnets in their brief, almost casual, stints at Chelsea...

Paisley and Dalglish of course...

And I'm sure I'm forgetting many others

It's a young team and all they need is a replacement for Busquets at this point. They're really not in as bad a position as you think. The fecking cnuts.

That's why we laugh so hard at them right now, chances are they'll be no joke next year
Not an easy player to replace. They need fullbacks too. And probably a better manager. And im not really convinced by a lot of the supporting cast in terms of Raphina, Fati or even Dembele to an extent. Gavi is still very young. Centre backs seem injury prone.
A better manager would probably figure a way out of most of them problems mind you. Actually competing for the champions league as equals of anyone is a ways off in my opinion.

Is club PTSD a thing? Everyone associated with Barcelona must shit themselves at the thought of Bayern.

When it comes to Bayern definitely. Arsenal and Tottenham can talk about it.

Doesn't look a particularly young team out there tonight
Their starting XI is supposed to be Kounde, Araujo, Balde, Pedri, Gavi, Ansu, Dembele. The oldest of those guys is like 25. Yeah they have Lewandowski and they need to replace Busquets and find a RB, but that's not exactly going to need a lot of money.

I hope they're fecked, but i'm used to being disappointed

Zagallo, Deschamps, Heynckes… arguably Clough (not “great” great but a fantastic goalscorer who could have broken lots of records)

But APART FROM them, basically good players hardly ever become top coaches? :)

Still wouldn’t say that makes them a particularly young/“inexperienced” team.

Dalot, Martinez, Sancho, Rashford, Antony ….. ….. McTominay :)

No sympathy for this lot. Conducted themselves like absolute dickheads in the Summer, so this is great, tbh.

Kounde looks like Maguire-type player. Slow on the ball and thinking too long. More mobile though.

is so good to see the more cnutish and arrogant club fail again.

UEFAlona is done if they persist with Xavi the gardener. They need a real manager and to change like half the team, too many people not good enough.

Feel a little bit sorry for Lewandowski, but he was the one who decided to leave a powerhouse to join a joke of a club.

Frenkie must be feeling stupid now. Not wanting to play Europa league with us to now being in the Europa league with Barcelona where he isn't even a starter any more and still being owed. Hope we have moved on from him

Well deserved. :wenger:
NOPE, the referíng was a disaster. Exactly the same handball judged differently in the same game.
UEFA Hates us for spporting the superleague.
Madrid are more powerful in general but as long as we are in this together I would rather them win than any of those corrupts teams like PSG or Manchester City.

Not wanting to play Europa league with us to now being in the Europa league with Barcelona
They played there last year as well. Either he is completely delusional or those reports were completely fabricated from the beginning.

Kounde and Raphinha could have been playing CL football with Chelsea as well.

I mean in the beginning of the season. They made the Champions league this season and didn't want to go back playing Europa, that fact that he played Europa last season doesn't mean he minds playing there every season. He and many others didn't think they will drop to the Europa this season.

Now imagine Lewandowski...

It's not only "replacing Busquets", it's about changing their dogmatic view of football because it's not compatible with the highest level unless you get a genious manager and 3 of the very best midfielders in the world. It requires far more than just replacing a player, they need to eat their humble pie.

Just seen the following on BBC livetext:
Bayern Munich have scored the last 14 goals in their Champions League ties with Barcelona.

Insane really.

They can still win the league but other than that getting dumped in the group stages after that heave investment, at the expense of future revenue, must be seen as a huge failure. It's going to be mostly on Xavi but I'm not too concerned about him just yet, so don't mind if they sack him or stick to him. Like I already said he has potential but with all the levers he's just been pressured to deliver right away.

Anyway this works for us quite nicely and I hope their early elimination serves as catalyst for them to implode this season and bottle their chances for winning the league.

What does it mean, "he has potenial"? I don't see any achievement testifying of his potential. I see lots of proof he's really stubborn, not spectularly smart and favors his friends over the team though. These are not good qualities for a coach.

Petty but love to see it after levers.

Guess you can’t pull one to get out of the groups.

Playing Europa whilst getting your owed money, in a city you and your girlfriend love > playing europa somewhere you didn’t want to move to.

Also, didn’t the manager just recently say Frenkie’s convinced him to be their pivot?

Very much doubt he feels stupid in any kind of way

Do think the summer fiasco has turned the casual off of Barcelona.

Without Messi and with farcical ownership mes que un club has turned into messy club.

I mean he's still a novice at his job and I think he could use with more development before making the jump to Barcelona, so of course he hasn't achieved anything of note. So I'm just thinking he could had benefited from having more experience. Now he's in a position where he needs to deliver and being a novice won't cut as an excuse. I think if he doesn't win anything he will be sacked but that doesn't necessarily make him a terrible manager.

I don't know, I just don't feel to shitting too hard on him just yet. I'm enjoying him failing in the UCL but they are still challenging for the league. :nervous:

Used to be a big fan of theirs, but now there aren't many clubs I despise more and I'm thoroughly enjoying their downfall. I just want to see more levers pulled.

Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern...

Another team in white storms the Spotify Stadium.

Lewa is not an adult child like CR7 he will know how to cope with this situation.

Sooner or later, this weird allure Barcelona have to players is going to wear off. Messi isn't there anymore lads, no one's going to save you from your own shitness and the board will flog you to the highest bidder next season when they realise you're overpaid or they simply can't afford to pay you anymore.

Ending up in the Europa league is quite problematic for them in my opinion. Had they remained in the CL, if they got to the quarter finals or so it may have at least been considered acceptable (I know they were budgeted to reach the semi finals or something like that but I mean in terms of what would be deemed acceptable in football terms) however now that they are in the Europa they will be expected to win it, which is not an easy thing to do.

I preferred the Barcelona of Rivaldo and Kluivert days, then more recently the Ronaldinho days. Since Messi came along they became massive money grabbing hypocrites.

Real Madrid I think are universally the biggest pulling club.

Barcelona under Guardiola with Messi was the place to be but now they are a shadow of that.
