Balotelli signs for Liverpool - Official

Unlike Balotelli, Rojo plays like he gives a shit. Which is more than enough for me to cut him some slack. Not to mention that - also, unlike Balotelli - he is adapting to a league he's never played in before.

Balotelli has, at the very least, played like he gives a shit. He has worked hard and he is trying.

It's pretty obvious he feels he could be at a bigger club. He just can't be arsed. Has he ever warranted his huge transfer fees wherever he's been?

He's worked harder for us than he has previously at 'bigger' clubs. He was apparently desperate to join us too. He clearly does care and is trying, but he's also clearly not a lone front man.

Yeah hadn't you heard? He never even defended a corner before joining Liverpool!

Ridiculous really. Januzaj is talented, Kovačić is talented, so is Sterling.

Balotelli is fe.king 24 years old..

Is the same as some people treating Anderson talented till few years ago.

He is talented but not so much productive. There's a difference you know. Age doesn't have anything to do with it.

Desperate to join you? More like desperate to leave Milan and Liverpool were the only club willing to take a punt on him. He was being hounded out of Milan by the fans and the management and his teammates weren't particularly fond of him either.
Granted he wasn't the most hard working player during his Inter or City days but he did mature a wee bit during his spell at Milan and started to track back and defend more. Don't think it's only Rodgers' genius that's turning him into more of a team player.

Not sure what the Liverpool fans and the press are making such a fuss about. I watched him recently and he would have had 2 goals against QPR if the 2 centre backs hadn't put it in for him.

Could prob should have had 2 against Hull, thought he got in several good positions and could have had a penalty too when someone made contact from behind in the box.

They're just looking for a reason they've regressed so much since last season and he's the easy target as the press love to jump on any balotelli headline.

I don't understand this. Iniesta is old, but I'd still regard him as one of the most talented footballers in the world. Same with Ibrahimovic, Silva and the likes.

I guess its the difference in language then.
Here when we say talented it means its some talented young guy who has a future in front of him. Till he's 23 or 24 he's not talented anymore, he is good or he's not good.

Sure some players are late bloomers but as I said when I hear about talented 25 or 26 year old its just weird.

Being a talent (young and promising) vs being talented (skillfull)

He was a Milan fan growing up... I'm surprised the fans turned on him so quickly, or that he was not willing to bust his hump for the side.

Having said that no doubt the racism played a part.

He did save a lackluster Milan side several times during last season but the general consensus was that he wasn't worth the hassle and the money from his sale and wages could be better spent trying to balance and improve the squad, which didn't happen, but that's a whole other story.

From that article,

Haven't the dippers been claiming it wasn't his signing, it was made by a "panel" and forced upon Brentan?
Standard knee jerk response if a player isn't an instant success, can't cast a shadow over the messiah brentan now. If he turns it around brentan will be praised alternative if he ships ballotelli out we'll hear how great and decisive Brentan is, just like with Carroll (even though he then bought an older, shiter, slower, less injury prone Carroll in Lambert)

Aside from their build, Carroll and Lambert are absolutely not alike.

I don't know why people keep saying this seeing as last season was his most prolific and Milan set up like this:

Clearly not a lone frontman in our system at any rate. He looks completely different when there is another striker around the penalty area to worry defenders.

I've been fine with his workrate in the basic departments. His languid style and sour expression is misleading in that regard. But he tracks back and moves around the pitch to be available.

Really not ok with his movement. He is far too reactive in his runs, especially when he drops deep and then just watches the situation in front him unfold while he remains deep ballwatching as if his participation in the attack was now over. But in general, he just never makes a run unless it looks likely that the ball will be going there.

I suppose that is a form of laziness too. But I'd much rather he invested himself in that than tracking back for corners or harrying the defenders.

And his shooting of course. His f*cking shooting.

Think his future here is as a squaddie. Too much of him needs work.

Really doesn't strike me as someone who'd take to a substitute's role particularly well.

That said, Liverpool are going to have a hard time shifting him so maybe there's no choice.

Sums-up this 'footballer' perfectly.

What? You have no idea why he was late on to the pitch. Could have been receiving treatment for a minor injury. He could have been having a shit. Point is, if that was, let's say, Steven Gerrard, you wouldn't even give it a second thought.

Are people really using this as a stick to beat him with? :wenger:

It annoyed me that video. You were on BT Sport the other day so Goals on Sunday only get to show 45 seconds of the game or something the next day....instead of showing a clip from the game they wasted about 10 seconds on that video! Like it really mattered, probably just having a piss or something hardly the end of the world!

It's getting ridiculous.

He's a good footballer who is finding his ground in a team struck by second season syndrome. The knee jerking has been excessive on here (understandably so), but moreso the media.

If you ask me the most violent knee-jerking on here was the amount of people deciding he was a good signing for Liverpool because he was relatively inexpensive. As though his chequered career to date was somehow irrelevent, because he cost less than what it would cost to sign him on Football Manager.

It's all knee jerk when he is involved. The declaration that he is one of world football's greatest talent and a great striker was kneejerk, the ridicule and scrutiny he gets now is kneejerk. One can just hope that he settles at a mid-table club in spain and we never hear from him again.
