Aymeric Laporte | Txiki doesn't forgive (except for when he does)

One of his representatives was, and given the talk in the press that followed I'd say there was some substance to the claim.

Was he actually there? I have no idea, I was just curious.
Has the guy broke any major news before there was ever talk of something happening.

Just for comparison's sake, how much is Varane's release clause?

Also, IMO the move from Laporte doesn't make sense. Surely, Athletic wouldn't be his dream club. Everyone fancies a dream to RM, Barca, Bayern, maybe us. You can always reject a club you don't want to play for(City or any other club) but signing a release clause basically enslaves him to Athletic.

He'll be 26 when his contract expires so he'll probably get a chance to choose his club in his prime. Athletic are making him their highest paid player, which would be attractive for someone with an injury history.

If David Luiz is worth £50m or whatever, someone will pay €70m for Laporte if he comes back from this injury, and in the mean time he gets a nice bump on pay.

Also, lol City.

Well no official confirmation but there never is for something like that. As for his track record he called all the big ones last summer right (Sterling, de Bruyne, Otamendi) but mainly I took notice once he revealed Delph's second u-turn to join City, he was on that before there was even a murmur in the press about it.

Fair enough. Wouldn't mind somebody like that here
I just remember him guaranteeing that Pogba was 100% moving last summer. Might not have been your guy but whoever it was, was supposed to be quite reliable

Once City came in with massive wages, he would have asked for a hike even though he chose to stay. Well, once you ask that, the club will ask for a bump in the release clause as well. Everybody wins. In any case, if he does well and continues to progress, the sort of money that is coming into football atm, he will get his move if he wants in a couple of years time.

He may not be the same player as he was with the injury, but I am glad he has signed a new contract. I'd rather see City with Mangala and co.
Doesn't mean Laporte wont ever make the move, but we will see

The way transfer fees are going, by next summer €70m won't be as expensive as it sounds.

How many goals would a pairing of Stones and Mangala concede?

Is that normal in Spain, openly mentioning the release clause in the tweet? Don't think I've ever seen contractual details publicly announced by the club itself.

Different person who has been harping on about Pogba. That's a poster who is the resident ITK and has been for some time, the owner Ric has only the past season or so started to provide his own information. The poster who talks about Pogba has never convinced me, attention-seeks too much and I can recall quite a few things he's called wrong.

Everton have their balls in a vice now. How much is Stones going to go for?
It really is the perfect storm of young player + contract + English tax + stubborn sellers + desperate buying club + oil club tax. £50m + add ons to £65m.

This is good news if it means City won't get him.

I'm going to get panned for this but I think it's that's a bad move. He's basically priced himself out of a move to a host of top tier clubs now. So he's going to need a PL club or Barca/Madrid to cough up the money.

Backwards step IMO.
Agreed.

Barca are starting to struggle financially. They don't have a sugar daddy or a commercial operation like United's and it's starting to bite them. They've also got a stadium remodelling to pay for.

They're either going to have to start a United-esque drive for noodle sponsors, tampon partners etc or ration their big signings in the coming years. Players like Laporte might well be beyond their budget.

Can't believe a few people are criticising him for seemingly being loyal to his club.

James Robson

He should get together with Sam Lee from Goal. Help brainstorm more propaganda pieces. Having said that, at least he's acknowledging that it's a huge blow to City. Makes Robson look even worse.

We would like to state that we are very relaxed about Laporte signing a new contract. We thought he was overrated anyway.
