Awesome United pics

Law, United's captain, didn't finish that season. He watched the European Cup final in hospital. As did I.

Law played in the European Cup semi final first leg against Madrid.

But missed the second leg and the final.

A couple of images from the '67-'68 season:

United lose 3-1 on the first day of the season at Everton.

Best scores against Liverpool in a 2-1 win in November '67.

United's last match of the '73-'74 season. Already relegated, United lost 1-0. End of the yellow and blue kit, I think.

Mick Martin, Macari, Holton and Brian Greenhoff for United.

John Ritchie's goal for Stoke meant they qualified for the UEFA Cup instead of Burnley.

Not awesome, or iconic, or of any import at all. But I love the old random stuff.

Ian Ure and Derek Dougan in August 1969. Ended 0-0. United's fifth match of the season and still no wins. McCalliog also sneaks into shot.

Picture from the old Shoot magazine.

The Watney Cup again. The pre season competition for teams that scored most goals across the four divisions, as long as they hadn't been promoted or qualified for Europe. United qualified three seasons in a row, but didn't bother playing the third time in '72.

1970: Reading 2. United 3 (Charlton (2), Edwards)

Kirkpatrick. And United's Clive Griffiths. Probably the 0-0 at home in '73-'74 against Southampton.

Jimmy Rimmer, Holton and Newcastle's MacDonald in March '73. United won 2-1 (Holton and Martin).

Ruud Gullit for Feyenoord in a pre season friendly in 1984.

Robson, Albison and Moses for United
