Australian Open 2015

Very well done by Murray, massive imrpovement over the last 12 months. I'm starting to root for Murray to win it. As long as it's not Djokovic.

Wow, this Murray is looking very impressive. Love the emotions he showed, especially the fist pumps at the end.

From stats, it looks dominating win for Murray. 94% success on net approaches is good for a baseliner. He did attempt almost half of net approaches than Berdych though. I am keeping an eye on Murray's stats from round 4 when there were strong opponents and his unforced errors have stayed around 1 per game on average. That's decent. Today his first serve in % came down a bit. In needs to be up further in 70s in final. His 2nd serves will be treated more ruthlessly than anyone else by Djoker who is best returner around and among best ever returners of all time and given how poor Murray's 2nd serve is, it will be tough.
Of course, this assuming Djoker takes care of Wawrinka tomorrow ;)

Murray has come back really well over the last 2 months.

Hope he wins the tournament.

What's she saying?

"F*** off you sh1t fat f***"??

Charming!

I think it's "fecking have it you czech flash feck".

She's gorgeous.

Nothing like someone as good looking and hot as Kim Sears swearing

Wawrinka just won a point with one of the sweetest half-volley drop shots I have ever seen.

Edit: Just to meekly surrender the game and 3rd set right after with a horrible double fault and an even worse forehand into the net on set point. *Sigh*

Because of his epics at the start of each season vs Djoko....although this is the weakest of three based on the tennis, the last two were superb with both playing far better. And that backhand, what a beaut that is, best since Justines.

Also, the consistent top 4 becoming a consistent top 2 helps. Murray and Djoko are the only guys on streaks of 10+ QF's, ignoring one absent for Murray.

Still a bit too early to make that call.

Hopefully Stan can somehow push through.

Horrible set from Djokovic, didn't hit a single winner. And that game where he couldn't seem to hit the court with a single forehand was just bizarre. Still reckon he'll win though.

I think Wawrinka would beat Murray. He's so aggressive and Murray's still too passive at times, he'd probably tee Wawrinka up for those big backhands.

I think this match has been a little disappointing, considering some of their previous encounters.

Not sure who I'm rooting for

Didn't think the Stan/Djokovic match was great. Probably spoiled by their previous encounters. Rooting for Murray in the final so have taken the pessimistic view that he will lose. Can't see Novak playing two poor matches in a row. He'll also not be as passive against Murray. IMO Murray has to be aggressive. If they both look to push and grind each other then Djokovic will win it.

I hope Murray wins, then wins the French after some miraculous draws puts Nadal-Djok in the Quarters which Djok wins but fluffs it in the semis vs whoevers hot and claims the most random career GS ever and a "claim" to be above plenty of superior players on the GOAT list -_-

Serena has won a grand slam title in 3 different decades. She is playing in what experts consider to be the most competitive era of women's tennis. She is a cut above the rest. She is amazing. Saviour this people.

Last 4 sentences of yours. I agree with all except one. The competitive era one. Steffi got more stiff competition from ASV, Novotna etc plus Seles before stab and later Davenport, JHH and Hingis. Current era in women's tennis is very very inconsistent. Except for Serena. I will rank Steffi above her but will agree that Steffi would have had around 4 titles or so less at least had Seles not been stabbed.

To win 24 Grand Slam titles like Margaret Court will be tough....but i think she will reach 22 titles like Steffi Graf.

I don't understand why Sharapova can't beat Serena....it's now 16 straight defeats!!!!

You seem to be better versed in the history of tennis than I am so I will defer to you on that point. It just that tennis seems to have become a much more global sport and that Serena is facing competition from all corners of the world. That probably doesn't necessarily make it more competitive I will admit.

Yeah no way is this the most competitive era.

For one, I'd say 05-08 or whatever superior. The Belgians, Mauresmo, Venus and of course Maria still around, forget the early to mid 90's, which had a superior array of talent that Graf/Seles(pre injury) somehow made mincemeat of at times, I would of loved Serena in that era, as much I'd love Federer to be like 6 years younger. Oh well.

No denying that she is one of the all time best, but not the best imo. As Zen has said, when Mauresmo, JHH were around, Venus was in prime, that period was relatively competitive for women's tennis since 2000s. To Serena's credit she won then too so she is absolutely fantastic but it is also true that she benefited from so many other women being inconsistent. 6 of her slams are past age of 30. It tells about her quality and stamina and fitness but also about how others are either under performing or are not good enough.

Margaret Court sounds like the name of an aristocrat who was afforded a 2 point head start in every game because of her patronage towards the Royal Federation of Tennis, hence her perfect 24-0 record in majors, surrealistically the only tournaments she ever played in her career. PS: I wasnt looking for that one, it just came to me.
